- Please stop adding birthdays to articles about bands. 1) content, particularly personal content about living people MUST be reliably sourced. 2) the birthdates of the band members are completely inconsequential to the topic of the article, a band. - Per your message on my talk page - generally the "members" sections of band articles are not appropriate. A listing of the names of the members of the band should be in the lead section, with any appropriate changes /member turnover discussed in text in the appropriate chronology section. Birthdates are personal information that CANNOT be added to article without reliable sources and even with reliable sources, the birthdates of individual members are inconsequential trivia to the subject of the article, the band. (and yes there are a lot of other articles that have inappropriate content and also need to be cleaned up as we can.) Active Banana (bananaphone 22:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- For the least resistance: 1) dont edit war. 2) dont disrupt the encyclopedia just to make a point 3) you can start by stating on the article talk page your intention to remove and why. 4) place {fact} and {irrel} (only use two braces on each side like this[citation needed]) around each piece of data 5) allow a little time for discussion 6) when you remove it, and clearly label in your edit summary what policies are supporting the removal. - The "unsourced WP:BLP" is the gold standard policy reason for removing unsourced birthdates. If you make it as a link, anyone who is interested can go read the policy for themselves. (in general, telling rabid fans that the tidbits that they want to include is fancruft generally does not have much of an impact on their persistance of including it- telling them that it breaks a very important policy that will quickly get them blocked if they violate it often will work) Active Banana (bananaphone 00:47, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think you just got caught up in someone vandal patrol sweep of recent edits where yours registered as "section blanking." I will remind you again that attempting to change all the articles in a 10 minute time is likely to be percieved as disruptive and that first stating your intention on the talk pages will likely result in better, less confrontational outcomes.
