Hi Bakazaka, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Hi Bakazaka, it is Mynamies. You've recently put my page S.D.C. for deletion Nomination for not meeting WP:NOTABILITY. It actually does I am going to put all 68 coasters the company made and I am going to add more sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mynameies (talkcontribs) 00:22, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

@Mynameies: I did not nominate that page for deletion. Bakazaka (talk) 01:05, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Doug Imbruce

Hello, you reviewed my complaint for the article Doug Imbruce, which has been nominated for deletion. I was hoping you could review the article itself, as it is puzzling why the original admin suggested it for deletion. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.226.109.165 (talk) 05:59, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

Well, I only fixed a formatting issue in the AfD discussion. But I just took a look at the article, and I agree with the nominator. Take away the sources that are actually about Qwiki, and there isn't enough significant, independent coverage left to support a separate article on the subject. That doesn't mean the subject isn't accomplished, just that Wikipedia notability guidelines do not assign the same weight to PR, alumni news, investments, and "top X" lists that the business world does. The Tangent Line

I see you redirected The Tangent Line to Mason–Dixon line#History. That would be fine but Tangent Line redirects to Tangent and the top two search results for "the tangent line" are Tangent followed by Mason–Dixon line#History. I reckon anyone typing in this phrase would be better off seeing those search results rather than being redirected to somewhere which doesn't mention or link to Tangent. What do you reckon? --Pontificalibus 13:34, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

@Pontificalibus: No strong feelings about it one way or another, particularly given variation in search and javascript settings, so I suggest taking it to RfD so other editors can weigh in. Bakazaka (talk) 18:18, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Sources

Because I didn't know how to add sourced, but Olamide released songs like "Poverty Die" Oreratile1207 (talk) 15:35, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

@Oreratile1207: I understand. But without a source, your edits will probably be removed on Wikipedia. If I add information without a source, it will probably be removed too. So the easiest way to stop people from removing your edits is to add a good source. It looks like someone on your talk page has given you an example of how to add a good source for that song. Try following that example for future edits, and see if your edits stay in place. Bakazaka (talk) 19:40, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Franz Klainsek

Hello

Thank you for moving Franz Klainsek article issue onwards towards the art section. I am new to to Wikipedia editing and want to make sure I get this right. Not sure why this article is still being submitted for deletion. Can you please advise on how to resolve the outstanding issues and format the article in accordance to the Wiki guidelines? Thank you! Did not know how to add references and what the proper rules are. Not sure if it is alright now? Thanks for your guidance.

Looking at the history of the article, no one seems to be concerned about formatting, but many editors have had concerns about notability, conflicts of interest, and copyright. So my suggestion is to focus on addressing those concerns. For notability, use references to reliable secondary sources that discuss the subject in detail. For conflict of interest concerns, disclose any connections you may have to the subject, following the instructions at WP:DISCLOSE and, if applicable, WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE. For copyright concerns, do not add images or text from other sites without an explicit license to do so, and use your own words when writing text. Bakazaka (talk) 19:22, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you Bakazaka I have addressed these issues as I know best. Do you have any further feedback for me? Thank you.Artlover06 (talk) 23:46, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

I don't have an opinion about the article, only some vague advice about the process: deletion discussions take at least a week, so there's no rush, and even though it's tempting to respond to every single point in detail, it's best to give other editors a chance to weigh in if you've been commenting a lot. You've already shown how you've tried to address other editors' concerns, so maybe wait a bit and see if other editors think that's enough to keep the article. Yes, it does seem that this student try to create a few stubs related to their main topic (Korean variety show) but they are unreferenced and there are no English sources so it will be difficult to rescue them. And since the grades are out, it is doubtful any students will want to fix things. I try to make them finish early, there are deadlines and such, but there is only so much I can do... The student never told me she created those stubs, never asked for advice... and now the class is finished :< --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:02, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Deletion Sorting aviation accidents

The pages they get sorted to are- Aviation, Events, Transportation, and location of where the accident took place. If the accident is military, Military deletion sorting is also appropriate. I removed Ohio deletion sorting from WP:Articles for deletion/PSA Airlines Flight 5320 because there is nothing Ohio related about the accident. Not even where the plane was headed to. I did add Events and Transportation....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 18:46, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

@WilliamJE: Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. PSA Airlines is based in Ohio, raising the prospect of local coverage of the company there, but I'm fine with following the usual conventions if it brings the right eyes to the discussion. Bakazaka (talk) 20:18, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

This is obnoxious and unacceptable. A cursory google search yielded nothing and many of us don't have as much free time as you apparently do. There's literally no excuse for explicit personal attack in response to an AfD nomination. Endymion.12 (talk) 23:09, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

That's not a personal attack. It is a reminder that when someone says "I can't find sources on X", it is a statement about themselves and their own capabilities, not about the article subject. For example, if someone says "I can't find sources on this French author" it might be because they can't speak French, or don't have access to French newspapers. It's not insulting to say they can't speak French, and it's not a personal attack to say that they lack access to French newspapers. In this case, you've just said that you don't have as much free time as I do. Is that insulting? I don't think so. It's just a statement about different capabilities, right? Bakazaka (talk) 23:28, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

Confusion on my recent edit that you reverted

Hello, a few months ago I took a lot of time out of my day to make a Wikipedia edit on the Covenant School (Texas) because I was very bored that day. A few months later, I checked up on the page that I edited, and I saw that it was reverted. I was wondering why you reverted it. I am just wondering so that I can learn from my mistakes and be a better Wikipedian. Thank you for helping me :) ThomasOwen12 (talk) 22:45, 13 April 2019 (UTC)

I reverted it because it was using promotional language like "visionary pioneers". Upon review, I see that it is also a blatant copyright violation, as the text you added is copy/pasted from the school's own site without evidence of permission. Please review WP:COPYVIO, as Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Also, if you happen to know BenOwen112, maybe let them know that they shouldn't be copy/pasting copyrighted content to Wikipedia either. Bakazaka (talk) 22:59, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
Oh, I understand now. The reason why I accidentally used copyright has to do with me just learning how to edit Wikipedia. I will try my best in the future to not use copyright, but I still have a few questions about copyright: how does one know if a text is copyrighted or not? how does one get information that is not copyrighted? how does one get permission from the school's site? Sorry for a load of questions, I am just learning from each of my mistakes and I want to be a good Wikipedia editor one day. Yes, I do know BenOwen112 and I have informed him and he is well aware of this too. Thank you for helping me :)
In order: 1) Assume any text is copyrighted unless it explicitly lists a license to use it elsewhere. 2) By putting verifiable information that you find into your own words (see the paragraph beginning "Aside from limited quotation" in the long message about copyright on your talk page). 3) By contacting the school and asking them to release the content under a suitable license. Since you've expressed an interest in becoming a good Wikipedia editor, I highly recommend that you go through The Wikipedia Adventure, which is an easy way to learn about some of Wikipedia's policies and practices. Bakazaka (talk) 17:09, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

AfD disruptive editing warning

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lantern Entertainment (2nd nomination). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. At AFD, it expressly states "that commenting on other users rather than the article is also considered disruptive." You also did so in the original nomination. Spshu (talk) 18:52, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

You mean, reverting your unilateral reopening of a closed AfD? The one that was closed by an uninterested closer, and was later endorsed by an administrator? (For anyone keeping score, that's the second AfD, which you opened after you kept trying to redirect against consensus following the first AfD.) Multiple people have told you to drop the stick on this, but you aren't listening. I'm not usually one for WP:ANI reports, but I'm willing to make an exception if you keep this up. Why are you deleting that sentence it fits there and the source is reliable?

@WIKIZILE: If you mean this [1], the "deleted" sentences in that edit were mischaracterizations of source material. I replaced them with accurately represented quotes from the same sources. @Syun respect for music: Your battleground behavior at Japanese Wikipedia led to an indefinite block. Please do not repeat those problems on English Wikipedia. Here we try to be collaborative and work together, but we also have standards of language and quality. Threatening editors as you did here [2] and here [3] and now here on my talk page, is completely unacceptable. However, if you want to request a block, the correct place is WP:ANI. Bakazaka (talk) 03:51, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
I think it is a shame that I have regarded it as a threat. Warnings are common and common practice in Japan. Block attention is also a common practice. There is nothing wrong with Wikipedia's universal rules. Japanese editors make more attacks. If you want to edit your own criteria, please go outside of here. I did not create a new page to meet your needs. Everyone in the Japanese entertainment world also sees here. I have linked my blog and my user page. --Syun respect for music (talk) 05:06, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

User:Pinnakal

Hello, Bakazaka,

I see that you tagged this page for deletion. If you are doing CSD work, you must post a notice of the tagging on the creator's talk page so that they are aware of what is happening. This is easy to set up automatically with Twinkle, if you are using that tool. Please post notices for any future tagging. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:43, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

But I see you notified the editor when you tagged User:Vaprime so maybe this was a single oversight. Liz Read! Talk! 22:45, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
But then you didn't for User:The original playboi! Please just do the notification every single time and be more consistent. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 22:47, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
@Liz: Thanks for your note. I agree that notices to the page creator can be helpful. For U5 or spamuser G11, usually I send CSD notices when the user's most recent activity is within the last 18 months or so, or if they have been active outside of creating their own promotional user page in recent years. Usually I don't send notices for, e.g., a user whose single edit in 2009 created a promotional user page. Pinnakal last edited in 2009. Theoriginalplayboi last edited in 2012. Creating a talk page for a user that last edited in 2009 seems very WP:BURO, particularly since instructions vary depending on where you look (WP:DELPRO says "in some cases", WP:SPEEDY says "should", and the templates themselves say "consider"). However, I can start treating the notification of all users as an absolute requirement, if you think that's best. Bakazaka (talk) 01:15, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

I saw this comment, and I want to say that I had not taken that bit about being offensive into consideration before. My source of "inspiration" wasn't exactly PC. This is still personally my preferred image, but I'll see if I can whip up something that more closely matches the source while being more sensitive to other cultures. –MJLTalk 04:36, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Hey! You recently referenced this essay in a very kind comment reassuring me that my contributions were appreciated. The really ironic/funny thing is, though, that I was actually likely one of the original targets of the essay's original author, who added the earliest draft of it where once had been a paragraph on specifically about me and other "people not really all that knowledgeable about the topic". The hilariousest part is that I later went to college, learned how to read sources, and confirmed that the original author of Randy in Boise had in fact been Randy in Boise himself, at least in the majority of his interactions with me (which focused on his ideosyncratic belief that "mythology" could not be a countable noun referring to the set of myths of a particular culture and that the plural "mythologies" didn't exist). It's funny how things work out like that. Hijiri 88 (やや) 11:44, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

@Hijiri88: Interesting, though I confess that my "Randy in Boise" memory is of the Wired article, and my relatively short time contributing to Wikipedia leaves me ignorant of the many rich histories of interaction here. Indignant Flamingo (talk) 19:06, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
