D&D articles for Wikipedia 0.7

Hi there!  :)

As someone who's worked on D&D and/or RPG articles before, I'm inviting you to participate in our goal to both improve articles that have been selected to be placed in the next Wikipedia DVD release, as well as nominate more to be selected for this project. For more details, please see the WikiProject D&D talk page for more details. :) BOZ (talk) 18:58, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks! :) If there's anything else you can do to help us push this Gary Gygax to GA status, please do! :) BOZ (talk) 12:40, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
No problem - I'll probably do some more on the biography section and see if I can help there, as it looks like it might be an ongoing issue for GA. There's certainly enough around to write a GA. :) - Bilby (talk) 12:47, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep, and it does need some work. As mentioned in the GA review thus far, his second wife is mentioned before his first wife!  :) BOZ (talk) 13:44, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
I've put a ton of work into the Gygax article so it's looking quite a bit better. Do you know if you'd be able to help work on the Personal Life section, which probably needs the most work of all? :) BOZ (talk) 23:00, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I've been following the great work you've done - it is terrific. :) And yes, I planned to put a couple of hours into it today, so hopefully I can start being useful. (I've got about four assignments to mark, and then I plan to play here) - Bilby (talk) 23:17, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Here's where we are at! :) BOZ (talk) 14:19, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Bah, if you make it 1% better, then you've been useful. :) I put a bit more work in the bio for now, and will do more soon. BOZ (talk) 07:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Saw that. Nice work. :)I've spent some time today reading through all the sources I could get here, and I think I've got a potentially great one at home. I'll see how much of this I can apply tonight. - Bilby (talk) 07:38, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Great news! :) Gary Gygax is now a Good Article. I have now nominated Wizards of the Coast. BOZ (talk) 02:29, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Have a look at what I've done so far with Wizards. :) BOZ (talk) 04:40, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Wizards of the Coast has been successfully promoted to GA status! :) Thanks for your support on this and the EGG article. I was also thinking of nominating Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms; see the project talk page for discussion on that. BOZ (talk) 19:57, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Vietnam War Memorial

I've just acquired a new set of photos for this memorial outside the torrens Parade Ground. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 08:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Cool. :) I was thinking of working on the Big Orange next, but it would be neat to do something on the Torrens Parade Ground. As I recall there are some interesting facets to its history. I'm not sure if the Vietnam War Memorial would be better served as part of that article, its own article, or as part of a List of War Memorials in South Australa. (As an aside, I tried to grab photos of it a while ago, but he balck marble and backlighting defeated me). :) - Bilby (talk) 11:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Club Penguin

I think we can now get that page to fa now, because the coms director for Club Penguin contacted me regarding this matter. :) --Vinni3 (talk) 10:28, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

It's probably worth giving a shot. :) I'll start looking into it and see what I can do to help. - Bilby (talk) 11:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Thats Bilby, I think one day, you might become an admin. :) --Vinni3 (talk) 16:44, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
I think that will not be for quite a while - if nothing else, I'm very happy as a mere editor. :) I'll try and get to work on the article with you soon. I've got a couple of urgent wp tasks (and a lot of marking) to take care of, but I hope to do something worthwhile to help you with this asap. - Bilby (talk) 03:13, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :) (Vinni3)--86.6.119.146 (talk) 18:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey there! Your article on Frog cake is on hold, please see the talkpage for details on this OMG EXTENSIVE edit. ;) CarpetCrawler (talk) 00:52, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

You're too lucky... yummy Froggie cakes! :) I really must see if any bakery around here has some, or atleast one of their alternatives. They look so cute!! :) Let's just hope you had some good upset stomach medication on hand. ;) I also see that you're reviewing the article on Dr. James Naismith... being a basketball fanatic, these things interest me. Have a good time reviewing it! Have a nice day! CarpetCrawler (talk) 01:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

James Naismith GA review

Hi there Bilby, thanks for the postive and useful review of the James Naismith article. I have edited the article according to your sound input, and I hope it looks GA-worthy now. —Onomatopoeia (talk) 22:37, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Those darn malls....

Sorry to have given you extra work. I was unaware that you could not request a speedy for something in AfD. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 08:30, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

  • That's cool - I'm not sure if it is strictly against the guidelines, but with existing keep votes for the malls it would prove problematic, and may result in a DRV. Normally if there is no chance that something should be kept the AfD is closed early instead (such as non-notable bands that go to AfD rather than being tagged for CSD). :) - Bilby (talk) 08:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Thanks. And you know... I would not mind the mall articles if they could actually show some notability in their sources, rather than sourcing their own corporate website. And with the few "keeps" making notability assertion... claiming that having a mention (however trivial) establishes notability... not one has actually been able (or bothered) to add a source showing notability (rather telling). I have not myself been idle in this... as I have done my searches and cross searches... I'd like to be proven wrong... but an advert telling how a realtor has his offices in the mall.. or a blurb bragging about air-conditioned comfort... just don't do it. Sigh. Again, thanks. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:49, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
  • PS: I hope you are as resourceful with Booval Fair and Mount Gravatt Plaza Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:09, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
        • Thanks. I thought what you were saying made sense, so I figured I would try to help. But Booval Fair looks to be beyond me, and while there are a lot of articles on Mount Gravatt Plaza, most of the commentary is trivial or incidental. - Bilby (talk) 05:13, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
How about a merge of theae last two to List of Centro Shopping Centres in Australia so the information is not lost? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 16:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
That's a great idea, but given that there were serious copyright violations in the other articles, it might just be easier to recreate with new text in the list. It is well worth doing, though, and I'll see if I can help. Thanks for the suggestion. :) - Bilby (talk) 03:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

DYK for Big Orange (South Australia)

Updated DYK query On 5 October, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Big Orange (South Australia), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

WP:N and Lists -- interpreting the RFC

I know you mentioned that you were looking at the RFC, trying to find some general principles that people agree upon if we should carve out a list exception to WP:N. I was wondering how it was coming along, and how long it might take you to figure it out... also, is there anything I can do to help?

(As an aside, when the RFC formally closes, we're gonna have someone do a more detailed analysis of the RFC. So don't stress yourself out trying to capture every nuance. If we only get a few general principles, supported by a few numbers, that's okay.)

Thanks in advance, Randomran (talk) 21:19, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

The analysis was intended for me, originally, so I've been writing it semi-academically, as that's how I write outside of Wikipedia. I've published a bit using variations of discourse analysis, and thought it might prove valuable in identifying core arguments in consensus-based debates. The methodology is supposed to provide rigour to qualitative analysis, or at least that was what I was told by the people who introduced it to me (they'd done some cool work analyzing forums). However, I normally use it for longitudinal studies, which this isn't, so part of my interest here is to see how it copes with this type of data.
At any rate, I wrote up some of the findings for the support section in A1 at Notability RfC analysis so that the general approach can be seen. It is only half the argument, so the summary only presents that half (the oppose section is needed too for meaningful results). I'm adding the summaries because I suspect people will find the rest to be horribly long, (which it is), and I'll probably end up putting the main analysis into those expandable box things. :)
Because of the approach, I can reasonably guarantee that no argument will be missed. :)
I'll see if I can write up findings to A4 today. - Bilby (talk) 21:41, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Looks like it's coming along nicely! Think you'll have something about A4 for us to work with by the weekend? (No real rush. Just antsy.) Randomran (talk) 05:35, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Looks likely. I just finished data collection for the support section - no analysis yet, but it is ready for it. There's a few things I'm surprised at, but I try not to identify patterns until the categorization is complete. However, I think there will be something to get out of it. - Bilby (talk) 07:54, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. Even if there isn't 100% agreement about how to interpret it, I think it will still reveal a lot of common ground to work from. Randomran (talk) 18:21, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Editing direct quotes (Gary Gygax)

I suspect you just overlooked it, but in this edit you modified the text of a direct quote. I've restored the text per the source. — Alan De Smet | Talk 13:46, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

So I did - thank you. :) The editing software raised it as a spelling error, but in the mass of wikitags I didn't realise that it was a direct quote. Thanks heaps for picking it up. - Bilby (talk) 21:38, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Rezai family - thanks

Thanks for indicating to the editor who labelled my edit as vandalism that he/she was in error. This stopped me having a go at the editor concerned! Cheers, --A bit iffy (talk) 17:17, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

No hassles. :) It seemed like a simple mistake. - Bilby (talk) 01:35, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification, and making the article distinctly shorter. A talk 17:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

If you don't mind my asking, what can I do to make Pride & Joy (comics) a GA, or FA? Thanks! A talk 23:43, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Rezai family

I wrote the article Rezai Family, i am new to this and not sure why you deleted most of it and the pictures.I got the pictuters from the Rezai family and they gave permission for them to be used. I would appreciate it if you would change the article back to its original form. I am not sure how to contact you directly. Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by PayandehIran (talkcontribs) 23:26, 20 October 2008 (UTC) Thank you once again. I am very new and not sure how everything works or how and where is the best place to correspond with you, Besides the sources that are listed, my other information comes from interviews with members of their family and others as well as with their ex-wives. As you saw the info was generally positive with no derrogetory comments or anything, so please let me know what i have to do so we can have the original article back up. thank you . —Preceding unsigned comment added by PayandehIran (talkcontribs) 22:48, 21 October 2008 (UTC) Thank you so much for your help. I would appreciate your assistance to get up as much of the original article and pictures as possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PayandehIran (talkcontribs) 18:23, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Notability RfC

Hey, please let me know whenever your results are ready, I'm interested to see the methodology you used, for my future reference. Thanks!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Aervanath (talkcontribs) 01:53, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I can't believe I forgot to sign! (I'm so ashamed...) :-P --Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 08:17, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
  • :) I have a rough draft of the methodology at Notability RfC analysis if you haven't looked already. It's an approach to qualitative analysis that I've seen used in a couple of Information Systems papers for analysis of forums, and isn't entirely unlike some of the grounded theory methodologies (with grounded theory, you can get pretty desperate for methosologies that can show the emergence of patterns!). Those who used to argue for it used it to show that you can handle qualitative analysis in a rigorous, quantitative-like way, although I think that there's room for debate about whether it is possible to compromise between those two groups. I've used it in one published paper, but in that paper I was conducting an longitudinal analysis, in which case this method allows you to graph the arguments over time, and as such is particularly valuable. Here the possible value is because it finds and categorises (in theory, anyway), every single argument proposed during the discourse. So it might give a useful summary of all the points that were raised, and by being "mechanical" it avoids most of the problems of personal bias. :) (Oops - I'm getting too wordy again - I promise to trim it back next time). - Bilby (talk) 08:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Ditto that. In case anyone hasn't asked formally, I'd like you to be one of the people who compiles and analyzes the RFC. Think you can handle it? How are things going? Is there anything I can do to help things along? Thanks a million, Randomran (talk) 18:28, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
  • I'd be happy to, but it will be a couple more days until I start putting togeather anything that someone can read. I have a pile of marking to finish today and tomorrow for my students, but after that I have a couple of weeks until the end of semester when the next lot come in. At the moment A4 data collection and first run analysis is done, so I need to trim down the argument list and then I'll be up to writing it up. And it looks really interesting - that one was quite close, I think, to getting through. - Bilby (talk) 08:26, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks a lot for taking this on! I'll check in now and then just to see how things are moving along. No rush. I definitely agree that some of these proposals were close to being passed, and maybe understanding the support/opposition will reveal how a modified proposal can lead us towards progres. Randomran (talk) 19:56, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing. Have you had any free time to continue the analysis? Randomran (talk) 17:30, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Rezai Family

Thank you so much for your help. I would appreciate your assistance to get up as much of the original article and pictures as possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PayandehIran (talkcontribs) 18:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

The complete lack of sources and the non-existence of the book convinced me this was a hoax. If you can provide secondary references to back it all up (not the party website), I'd be happy to reinstate the article. The reason I don't accept the party site as source is because it's not independent and there have been several cases of people making up political parties in the past. - Mgm|(talk) 11:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

  • I really don't care too much about the article - I'm pretty sure I'd vote delete, especially given that it seems to have been created by an SPA. I suspect it would be self-promotion, and more than likely non-notable. That aside, the book exists, so I'm not inclined to say it was a hoax. (Well, that, or it's a very good one). On the other hand, I don't see much point standing on process, either - I can't dig up anything other than proof he exists, and it would have probably been snowed, anyway. So you certainly made a good call. :) And yes, the frog cakes were good - my children refused to eat them, so I was forced to eat the lot. Writing Wikipedia articles can be hard. - Bilby (talk) 12:16, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Why did your kids refuse to eat them? Were the cakes too cute, or didn't they like the taste? I'd love to have some on hand for Christmas. I think I'll have a go at recreating them in my own kitchen and see how it pans out. - Mgm|(talk) 17:30, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I am happy the article was deleted with reason: I just joined in his morning and I would hate to see the very first article I ever nominated for deletion turned out to be no hoax at all. If it isn't, however, it should be re-created of course, but I highly doubt it would go that way. Ah well, ya never know! Good luck, take care and please keep me informed on your findings! J.B. (talk) 12:22, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

  • The short answer is that yes, they exist. :) According to the Bangladesh electoral commission, they contested the 2001 election in Bangladesh with three candidates, winning no seats but garnering a tad over 500 votes. One of the three candidates was Sheikh Mahiuddin Ahmed. They didn't contest the 1996 election (presumably because they didn't exist at the time), and there hasn't been an election since 2001. However, the other question is whether or not they are notable: there are no secondary non-trivial sources that I can find in English to use to write an article (noting that I have limited knowledge of politics, and no knowledge of Bangladesh, so I might not be looking in the right databases). A stub is viable, (just), and there may be something in sources from Bangladesh, but I can't evaluate that. I would suggest that a political party probably warrants a stub, even if nothing more, just to help with the completeness of Wikipedia's coverage of these issues. As an aside, I really doubt that the associated think tank is notable, so I'd lean towards saying that the think tank isn't, Sheikh Mahiuddin Ahmed wasn't, and the Liberal Party Bangladesh is ok as a stub, and may grow if the controversy is sizable or if there are sources elsewhere. - Bilby (talk) 23:29, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Indie Spotlight

Thank you for fixing the Indie Spotlight article. We keep getting vandalized by User:ShockerHelp and have to keep reverting to last changes made.--JMST (talk) 14:46, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Bilby I am sorry I said your name wrong when I edited the Indie Spotlight topic back to the one you started to fix.--JMST (talk) 22:15, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I checked Shocker Toys and seems they have been deleted on wiki before by a bunch of people who signed up and didn't like them. Even though the had tons of resources stating they were a notable company. which means as a novice I wouldn't dare write an article about them as it would cause a huge problem much like this article did. Someone experianced should write a Shocker Toys article if that is to happen and I def think it should be trimmed back I just don't know what to trim.--JMST (talk) 11:30, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

If you are interested in doing a Shocker Toys page I am willing to help out a bit. Then maybe the Indie Spotlight article can be redirected.--JMST (talk) 14:18, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
It's looking good at the Shocker Toys article. I added a few magazine refrences and some interviews. Maybe we could get a more defined released product section (they have something on their forums that lists all products released to date) and maybe a Licenses section like NECA toys has on their Wiki page. Alot of the other companies I collect from have alot more section with alot less refrences.--JMST (talk) 03:43, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Well I guess thats it. I don't know why ShockerHelp didn't AFD it a long time ago and he had someone he knew under a non wiki account nominate it so he could come in and second nom it. I think the article needs a little more work but I find it highly offensive that trolls can come into wiki and destroy something and their is no rules against it. Every other toy company like Shocker Toys has a wiki page and some with no refrences!--JMST (talk) 15:46, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Comment Seems we got an editor to mark Speedy Keep which I also changed mine to Speedy Keep. It says under wiki rules that when a Speedy Keep is ruled that the article has the AFD removed and marked cause Speedy Keep and AFD vote closed. Problem is wiki recommends a higher up must do the deed rather then a loley newbie like myself.--JMST (talk) 20:48, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Now I am being called a man and the CEO of the Shocker Toys company by a guy throwing around slanderous comments. I knew this would be hard but didn't know I would be attacked so bad. Well its been the alloted 5 days under wiki rule so let's hope it ends in keep so I can learn more and improve the article alot more.--JMST (talk) 04:47, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Good work

Howdy Adam! I've finally had a bit of a chance to start catching up on things around the 'pedia and I just wanted to thank you for the great work you've been doing with local articles. I've enjoyed reading them! As an aside, I've also noticed your vandal fighting efforts popping up on my watchlist -- if you'd like, I can enable the rollback feature on your account so you've a more efficient reversion method at the ready. Just let me know ;) --cj | talk 15:20, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. :) I keep coming across the work you did whenever I work on something local, (an not infrequently on non-local stuff, too), so I really appreciate that - you've done some great work over a long period of time. As to rollback, I don't do a great deal of anti-vandal stuff - mostly I just keep an extended watchlist and revert if I spot something someone else has missed, or manage to pick it up first. Nevertheless, if you think it would prove useful, I'm happy to see if it helps. :)
While I'm at it, thanks for getting the National War Memorial article underway. They've finally finished cleaning it and have removed the fences, so I'm hoping to see if I can get a couple of better detail photos of it soon, and then I might see if there's any chance of getting it through FAC. - Bilby (talk) 13:11, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
I've enabled the rollbacker feature on you account; mind, there's no expectation that you become a vandal-fighting extraordinaire, it just means you've got an extra tool at your disposal when you come across mischievous edits. Though, if it causes you any hassle, just holler and I'll remove it pronto. :)
I'm rather impressed by the transformation of the National War Memorial (and, on the topic, the Boer War Memorial article was one I enjoyed reading in particular). It's been a while since I've followed FAC, but I'd say you have a very fair shot at getting it through (unless the standards have changed markedly in the last year). Good luck! --cj | talk 16:43, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

War memorials

I just read Shrine of Remembrance and was very impressed. Do you have any plans to work on non-Australian war memorials (you know about the MILHIST taskforce, I presume). I have an interest in WWI war memorials myself, and created La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial. Would you have any advice or be able to help there? Carcharoth (talk) 06:39, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks. :) Although Shrine of Remembrance was very much a collaborative effort - which I greatly enjoyed, as well. :) I'm interested in memorials outside of Australia - I don't have anything here on the La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial (most of my print sources are focused on Australian memorials, which seemed to have increased in interest with academics over the past decade), but I'll look around in the hope I can find something. I'd definitely like to help. Generally, what I've found, though, is that there aren't as many academic publications as I might like, so I've tended to have to turn to local historians instead, especially given that many of the fancier sources have significant errors. So for the three memorials I've worked on, I tended to have to rely on archival secondary sources, rather than the more recent works. Not sure if that can help you, though. :( - Bilby (talk) 15:19, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Shocker Toys

  • Hello Bilby How do we get the AFD removed now and get back to work on the article? It has been 5 days and not counting all the COI including myself adds up to 3 keep notes.--JMST (talk) 22:26, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
  • The number of votes isn't the issue, and I'm not inclined to see most of them as COIs, if any. What I see are SPAs, but that I don't mind - they're entitled to an opinion. That aside, these don't get automatically closed after five days. What is needed is an admin able to read through the arguments and come to a decision, and that may take some time. Thus we need to wait a bit for someone to have the chance to think it through. They normally do so pretty quickly after five days, but more complex AfDs, like this, are a tad harder to evaluate, so they may take longer. - Bilby (talk) 05:52, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Waterfall Gully

Hopefully it meeets the MOS now. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model) 06:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm really crappy at MOS stuff, although I keep hoping that I'm getting better. You, on the other hand, seem to be excellent at copyediting, amongst other things. At any rate, I think I've got enough distance from the article now to make a pass at copyediting the prose, so I'll see how that comes out, and I promise to do my best not to stuff up any MOS fixes you've done. - Bilby (talk) 13:32, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

JMST

Hello. Could you drop JMST (talk) a line about appropriate edits. He/she seems to listen to you and respect your opinion. I made some edits to the Shocker Toys article that JMST immediately reverted, claiming I was destroying the article. The only thing I did was a few grammar corrections, the removal of one line because I felt it was entering Crystal territory, and added online links to articles already in the references. I felt that linking to the articles directly would benefit most everybody who wouldn't have access to the print versions. I did not remove any references. Thank you for your time. ShockerHelp (talk) 00:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for sorting out this article's GA Sweeps review. I've closed the review now (as keep), but I noticed that there seems to be source missing. Joanna Vaughan is listed in the penultimate citation, but I can't find it among the References. --Malleus Fatuorum 15:41, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Today, I nominated the article on Touch the Clouds for Good Article because in the last few days it has been greatly improved in quality. Perhaps you could help me here? J.B. (talk) 12:40, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

why you remove my comments to articles ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.172.170.26 (talk) 13:28, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I wanted to help some orphaned artcicles get some attention and links they deserve. I started with the article Isaac W. Sprague today, a stub about a sideshow performer. I included links to his name in some pages, do you perhaps know a few more pages I could add him to? Thanks in advance, Jouke Bersma Contributions 09:17, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Not offhand, but if I see somewhere appropriate I'll add it. However, you do need to be careful about inappropriate linking and canvasing. - Bilby (talk) 02:38, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

AN/I Notice

Hello, Bilby. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding the dispute between the Dungeons & Dragons WikiProject and Gavin.collins. Thank you. -- BOZ (talk) 18:54, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

That link you posted has me convinced that while it looked sketchy at the time, this article is not a hoax after all. But I have to go now (not back within 1.5 hours). Please let Redvers know what I told you and feel free to point to this message if you want to get it undeleted before I'm back at a computer. See you later! - Mgm|(talk) 14:01, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Gavin.collins RFC/U

Hello. A request for comment on user conduct has recently been filed regarding Gavin.collins. Since you were involved in the Request for Mediation, I thought that you would want to know. You can see the RFC/U here. Thank you. BOZ (talk) 00:08, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for endorsing one or more summaries in the RFC. Please note that two proposals have been put forward on how we can move on after the RFC: Casliber's proposal and Randomran's proposal. Please take the time to look over these proposals, and consider endorsing one of them, or writing one of your own. Thanks again for your participation! BOZ (talk) 03:19, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Please do not forget the deletion of the article Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed was done in good faith. I searched for the article and there were no google hits at the time found by me or Mgm. This person is not notable at all - he may or may not be a hoax, but he is not notable for sure. I redirected the page for now - I did this in good faith, restore it if you want and please don't go around screaming vandal like happened last time. Hi I am glad you are looking for a wide range of projects because I am looking for help with my article on the grivet. If i could get your feedback that would be great. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.237.76.187 (talk) 16:23, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

It had not survived a prod previously and was shortly created after it was prodded. I'm especially skeptical after the article was added in rapid succession to countless articles that did not relate to the subject (seems like an attempt to gain notoriety through Wikipedia). I doubt this article really meets the standards of inclusion but if you feel that I may have been in error you can request a DRV and have others review the deletion.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:48, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Not necessarily. As I said it strongly appears to fail WP:PROF in this case. But I understand your concern. And wouldn't you know it a sole purpose account just recreated the article -.-...I'll allow another admin to review it this time.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. :) We're working on this one to get it up to a GAN - want to help? BOZ (talk) 01:15, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

To be more precise in what I was looking for... I recalled that you had worked on a critical reception section for the kender article, and was wondering if you had anything to do the same for Forgotten Realms, which is currently lacking in that regard? BOZ (talk) 04:43, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
That's a really good article - it will take awhile, I fear, to get good references, but I'll do what I can. I've added a tiny bit, but I suspect the difficulties will be to get stuff on the RPG side, and to focus on the world, rather than the works within it. - Bilby (talk) 06:45, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, we've been working on it. What you've added is definitely a help; I knew you were the one to ask. :) Just do what you can! It's already a paragraph rather than a sentence. ;) We may or may not be able to turn an FA on this one (Gary Gygax is up now), but I don't see why we can't get a GA with a little more work. BOZ (talk) 15:06, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey there. :) Do you know of anything that can be added to this page of reliable secondary sources? BOZ (talk) 17:33, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Adam; noticed my return? Puputan's got real potential; chip-in? Cheers, Jack Merridew 09:46, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, I'd heard you'd finally managed to get a decision out of ArbCom - it seems like a slow process, but I guess that's fair enough, given what they have to do. It looks like an interesting article, and about a topic I hadn't encountered before. There are a few sources around, which is cool, and I might be able to get hold of Wiener's book, so it should be a good one to work on. I'll see what I can do. :) - Bilby (talk) 06:53, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
It took a bit of time, and a more than a few bits of email ;) That email account has more than a thousand in/out since March. The AC is a hyper-multitasking entity and they do it at human speeds. And there's always some drama… gumming things up; see Alastair stuck in limbo there - for near a month!
Puputan is a significant topic; I picked up the Pringle book cited in the article (I'd read a borrowed copy a few years ago) and am working on it; I'm in the twelfth century, still. There are more instances of puputan than are mentioned so far; and, I'm told, it's a Javanese term, too; unrelated, it is "a custom or tradition in Javanese culture when a baby lost his/her umbilical cord at age approx 30 days."diff w:jv:Puputan is about this; w:jv:Puputan (perang) is about the subject covered by the en:wp page (now, at least) - 'perang' is Javanese for 'war'. The Battle of Marga, where I Gusti Ngurah Rai died, has be called a puputan, too.
The time away was great, actually; I wasn't far and I'm involved in a lot of projects now: sulutil:Jack Merridew

I ran into an edit conflict, so it gave me the full page, rather than just the support section I was editing. And I stupidly didn't notice. :) Fortunately I realised pretty quickly - that would have been embarassing. - Bilby (talk) 23:49, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

I am trying to have a company logo appear in a box on the right but don't know how to template. When I was looking into it, wiki said if you don't know how ask for assistance. I was just taking the one directly off the company website, Radiant Logic I can't really figure out how to do it, and I want to stay compliant so that the sight will stay up once its posted. Thanks --Heyeppy (talk) 16:25, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the work on Touch the Clouds and for pointing out that there are some responsible people involved. The 4 day deadline was only to start the re-work. I should say that this is only my 2nd GA review, and I've been told by a trusted advisor that it's a bit strict (e.g. suggesting Harvard references!) As I understand it, I'm allowed or encouraged to help, and I'll start a bit with the flow of the language.

Re: Shocker Toys

I don't see how the article from The Record gives the proper info. Most of the article isn't available. And yes, primary sources are okay if used like this:

According to Shocker Toys' website, Beckett was joined by Lance Buttiglieri as a new partner in the company.

However, it was used like this:

Beckett was joined by Lance Buttiglieri as a new partner in the company.

Thanks. Friginator (talk) 01:34, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

The Record is fine - I've got access to the full article, and it fully supports all of the claims. I took your suggestion, though, and made it clear that the statement came from Shocker Toys, as well as fixing a couple of other small problems. - Bilby (talk) 01:59, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
How did you get access to The Record? I think it's members/library only, so does it still count as a source if the reference isn't available to everyone? Thanks. Friginator (talk) 03:48, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
I get it through EBSCOHost, although I think the AccessMyLibrary database is probably more widely available - it depends on whether you're looking from a public library or a university, I suspect. Access is an interesting question, though - generally, to be verifiable, it has to be accessible, but that's not the same as readily accessible. If it requries special security clearances, then I suspect it would fail. :) But if it requires purchasing db access, then it should be fine. :) - Bilby (talk) 08:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, cool. I can't find the article elsewhere, and I was also afraid the article had been deleted or something, but thanks for clearing that up. Cheers. Friginator (talk) 23:43, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for the new year wishes, and express my own hope that the new year went great (and continues to go well) for you. :) Plus, while I'm here, thanks for your work on the Keith Miller articles. Callum Ferguson Nickname Change

Bilby,

I have been attempting to update Callum Ferguson's nickname to reflect his actual nickname, which is "Cheese". However, I believe you have labelled this as vandalism. Could you please allow this change to go ahead?

Regards, The Rose Park Express —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.160.169.146 (talk) 05:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi. The problem is that we can only show a nickname if it has been published in a reliable source. In this case CricInfo lists his nickname as "Walt Disney" - while he might also be known as Cheese, unless someone has published this, we can't use it. If you know of any newspaper articles or other sources that use "Cheese", though, then we can point to them to justify the change. - Bilby (talk) 00:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Service in Informatics and Analysis - considered for deletion?
The reason for putting this article up on Wikipedia is for the very reason there is not much existing on the web of what was a vibrant computer company, albeit before the age of the web. I did manage to find references to it in some documents from one of their customers: British American Tobacco, now archived by University of California, (see http://legacy.library.ucsf.edu/tid/qvd46a99) and have made a reference to that in my article. File:Waite Agricultural Research Institute.jpg Nice photo! Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 01:37, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. :) I had to make three trips to try and get it (the sky was wrong on one trip, and the camera's battery was flat on the second), and had intended to include it in the Louis Laybourne Smith article, but decided that it would be one picture too many. So I'm glad I found a place for it. - Bilby (talk) 01:41, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Why not add it to the gallery that is located at the bottom of the Louis Laybourne Smith#Works section? (It looks like there are quite a few of his works "missing" from that gallery ... ) Pdfpdf (talk) 02:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I thought about it, but I wanted to keep that section down to illustrative works, and I already had a Georgian structure there. I may add it in later, especially if I can get another three pics. :) (I like the balance of two rows). There was also a small problem in that the biographies ascribe the building to him, the heritage listings to the firm, and Adelaide Uni's documentation to Walter Bagot. I'm pretty much convinced that Adelaide Uni got it wrong (Bagot was the architect for the uni, but Laybourne Smith did a number of the designs, so the mistake is understandable), and the biographies are more reliable, but I don't want to over-emphasise it until I can get a primary source to confirm the architect. Unfortunatly, all of the histories of Adelaide Uni and the Waite Institute that I can find never bother to mention the achitect.
As an aside, I picked up a couple of other pictures that I might be able to add here and there. I've been running around a lot lately taking pics of buildings that I might want to write about one day. :) - Bilby (talk) 02:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
"(I like the balance of two rows)" - Me too! (I've just been fiddling with Little Penguin trying to minimise white space)
"There was also a small problem ... " - Yes. (Been there, done that ... )
"As an aside, ... " - I had an idea about keeping track of photos I hadn't used yet (e.g. User talk:Pdfpdf/Belair Line, User:Pdfpdf/Galleries). However, I got distracted, and haven't got back to them. Worst one is Jubilee 150 Walkway - I've taken the photos, but haven't even loaded them up yet! I've been dong better on North Terrace, Adelaide and King William Street, Adelaide, but haven't touched them since before Xmas, either. Ho hum. Pdfpdf (talk) 03:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Cool. btw, I just picked up Healey's "S.A.'s Greats", which has one page bios of each of the people featured on the Jubilee 150 Walkway. I was thinking of using it to do at least start-class articles on all of the people with plaques there. - Bilby (talk) 04:03, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

<od>Healey's "S.A.'s Greats" - I had not heard of it. nla, UofA, UofA catalogue, Historical Society advertisement (only $11.95)

Well, if you're going to start creating stubs, I'd better start populating Jubilee 150 Walkway!

Regarding Edit of "Fida Hassnain' New Page

I was asked to get a page started for Fida Hassnain because there is limited access to electricity and computer time in that area of India where he lives. I created the page to help out, and then handed it over to friends in India who wanted to develop the page further. I am advised that every time they try, they are blocked and the edits all revert back. I don't want it to appear that there is a conflict of interest as you claim. Others want to take over the page and continue working on it but are blocked by tags you placed there. Please advise how they can procede to work on the page from India...then there will be no further problems with "conflict of interest" concerns from Wiki editors. You also placed several tags on my new page asking for more inline references. I thought the page was vastly improved by now and many inline references have been included. What else is left to place there? I took great care to be sure I copied exactly the pages of other American authors... mine far exceeds many of theirs for sources and information.. And the same situation exists..when we had an editing war last year, I was asked that members of my family NOT edit the pages and that I use my own name. This is exaclty what I have done when creating the page 'Suzanne M. Olsson'to replace 'Suzanne Olsson'. I don't want to use the 'M' in the middle of my name. By the way, thank you very much for cleaning up the tags on the page. You have improved it greatly!! Thank You.SuzanneOlsson (talk) 09:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I suspect that there is a bit of a misunderstanding here. :) I added the COI tag to Fida Hassnain as you were a coauthor of his, and because of Abd's comment, which also suggest a possible COI. That aside, COIs aren't really bad things - you're fully entitled to create an article on yourself, and certainly entitled to create one on Fida Hassnain. By adding the tag I'm just suggesting that other editors should have a quick look to make sure that the two articles are written from a neutral point of view, and if so I expect the tags to be removed. Other than that they should have no significant effect - I can't see why editors from India should be blocked by the tags, at least from a technical perspective. As far as I'm aware, the tags are meant to be informative, but not to protect or otherwise limit people's ability to edit.
The references problem is a different, and possibly bigger, issue. In your article you've added a list of references, but you haven't shown how they relate to the text. For example, I'm aware that Simon Price's article mentions that you are known as "Indiana Sue", but there was no connection drawn between that reference and the comment along those lines in the text. I've fixed that now, so you can see what I mean, but the concern is that we tend to be very, very careful with biographies of living people, as we want every significant claim to be backed up with a reliable source. Thus to make it easier to evaluate we need inline references to show the connection. I should also add that the references need to be for the core claims: for example, I accept that the Afgan War occured. What we need is a reference that shows that you remained in the region.
Anyway, I'll help where I can - I'm not a fan of "drive by" tagging, as I'd rather help fix the problems than just highlight them. In this case the tags aren't meant to be malicious, but instead were placed in the hope that some other editors could stop by and help out. :) - Bilby (talk) 10:33, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much Bilby..I will forward a copy of this to India and ask that they continue trying to edit the Hassnain page . If they have further problems, I'll advise them how to contact you. Regarding the Afghan War, I was indeed in the region. I lived there several years. The articles printed in newspapers like Greater Kashmir Times" and Times of India' make mention of my efforts in the region, but nothing is broken down country by country. I had a similar problem the first time an article was submitted about me here at Wiki. I was living in Paris and traveled to Israel during the Six Day War. I am very proud of my efforts and the articles I wrote at the time. But I am unable to meet the criteria for "proof" in that I was also married and under a different name, and the articles I wrote are not in print or online...I gave up trying and don't even bother mentioning these things anymore for benefit of Wiki..I was a resident of Pakistan and India: I lived 2 years in New Zealand, 1 year in Fiji, 6 months in Nepal, 3 months in Tibet, 2 months in Korea...1 year in Paris...6 months in Axum , Ethiopia, and there is more...but I haven't a clue how one "proves" residency. Nor do I know any other authors who have had to establish "proof" of where they lived in the world. So why bother mentioning these places even though most are connected with the research in my books? I appreciate your information and your help on the Wiki page. I'll do my best for you. Many Thanks 76.122.23.179 (talk) 14:34, 1 February 2009 (UTC) Suzanne Olsson

Oh, I fully accept that you were in the region, and it seems that you've done some great work. The problem from Wikipedia's perspective is that it is very important to avoid defaming living people. Thus the rules for biographies of living people are much stricter than those for others - if the information is at all contraversial (in the sense that it might be questioned), then it needs to be verified or it should be removed. I don't think that your presence in the region is contraversial, so it isn't necessary to provide "proof" of residency, even though in the long term it would make things more comfortable. (Mind you, other editors may have a different view on this). The plus side to all of this is that people wishing to present negative material need to show the same level of care, and if any unsourced negative claims appear we'll be removing them as soon as possible.
As to the articles you mentioned, Wikipedia doesn't require easy access to copies. :) All we need is to know that someone could access the articles - for example, in library archives in India or Kashmir. You don't need to provide them, but you do need to provide enough information so that they could be sourced, as per any academic work. Again, keep in mind that others will be placed under the same burden of proof, which is generally a good thing. - Bilby (talk) 14:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank You Bilby...I am trying to do my sincere best. May I ask one more question? Why couldn't my page be made under the name Suzanne Olsson? Why would my name be blocked at Wiki? I don;t understand who did this and how can this be undone? Thank You. Suzanne Olsson76.122.23.179 (talk) 01:34, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

The article under that name has been "salted", which means that only an administrator is allowed to create it. That seems a tad like overkill, but typically happens if someone feels that a page has been recreated too many times. To recreate it under that name you would have to ask an administrator, and I'm not sure if that would be wise at this point - it would be better to improve the referencing. - Bilby (talk) 02:42, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi Bilby, as you can see I am removing everything I created and would like those two pages deleted. They may be valid however there are one or two editors here who would either remove the pages because I created them...or harrass me constantly. There are others who can create the pages and there wont be any COI...Many thanks for all those minor corrections you kept the pages up and looking pretty nice! Thank you.SuzanneOlsson (talk) 13:44, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
I didn't see this before adding the comment below. Suzanne erred in moving Suzanne Olsson back into article space with the name changed to avoid the salted name. Apparently she realized that and is trying to undo it by blanking and asking for deletion. But she isn't the only author, the content doesn't belong to her, it's been licensed to Wikipedia by the general grant covering contributions here. Basically, she should stop flopping around, essentially do nothing unless asked and she's willing, let others take care of it, consent to any cleanup necessary, and apologize for the trouble. It isn't much trouble, and that she clearly wants to undo her mistake shows that there is no reason to pursue this matter, and I would defend her against claims otherwise. If you think the article is worth saving, let me know and I'll help. I'll also spend some time, when I can, looking into it. I think Fida Hassnain is notable; but the article as it stands clearly needs work to remove peacock words, etc. Suzanne apparently wrote it from her personal knowledge, she knows the man well, apparently, and has co-authored at least one book with him, so I think the article is factual as to the facts it contains, but, as you know, we need independent sources for an encyclopedia. Thanks.
I've given her the same advice about sources. If they exist, even if Wikipedians can't easily get a copy on-line, as long as it is theoretically possible to verify and there is no specific reason to believe the sources have been falsified, they can be used. If there are archives of Kashmiri Times, then what she should do is to try to get a photocopy from a friend in Kashmir of the articles she needs. It doesn't have to be in English, though I think that paper is. Last contact we had last year, she was trying to get copies. Don't know how that turned out. --Abd (talk) 15:07, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Suzanne M. Olsson nee Suzanne Olsson, deleted by AfD.

You have done quite a bit of work on this article, as it was sitting in Olsson's user space. However, Suzanne moved it back into mainspace, apparently without discussion. I discussed this with her off-wiki. It looks like she concluded that she should reverse that action, but couldn't because of a redirect sitting in the way, perhaps, and she didn't know how to handle that. So she blanked the page and requested deletion in her edit summary. I moved the article out of article space to my user space, at User:Abd/Suzanne M. Olsson, and added a speedy deletion template to the article as a recreated AfD'd article. If you wish to see the article back in article space, you should consent to the deletion of the redirect, then move the article back from my user space, you have my permission to do that. However, I'd suggest that you be relatively confident that the article would survive review before taking it back to article space.

However, if the article is to go back, it should go back to Suzanne Olsson. This will require an administrator to handle it, because it's been salted due to prior recreation out of process. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 14:50, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I've been unsure about it - I can't find any refs other than the Fortean Times to show notability, and while I'm very happy to accept that the other articles exist, I can't use them properly in the article. Personally, I think it might have survived being nommed for AfD, as I wasn't convinced by teh arguments from the first, but that's not a big deal either way. - Bilby (talk) 14:48, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I did this. Does it cause and/or create any problems? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks heaps for the copyedit, and I liked the addition of the extra memorials - I had been wondering how to sneak in mention of the Crosses of Memory in particular, and that was a great solution. I've reduced the galleries down to the five main pictures (which was also great, as I had been wondering if I could get photos in time, and then you added them), just so that the smaller memorials don't overwhelm the subject of the article, and so that I could add captions. I'm hoping to get through FAC before Anzac Day, but I wouldn't be surprised if I need to make more than one attempt. I gather FAC is hard - but then, I guess it should be. :) - Bilby (talk) 14:44, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

LOL! - To quote Marvin, "glad to be of service"! (Sadly, however, I don't have a brain the size of a planet!)
I think I'll leave the pursuit-of-FAC to you; it sounds much too much like hard work! I am, however, happy to assist if it is within my capabilities, so don't hesitate to ask - if you don't ask, I can't say "yes".

Changing subject - Regarding this edit, I was wondering why you removed the string: | url = http://www.nla.gov.au/apps/doview/nla.aus-vn2465076 | accessdate = 15 February 2009  ? I eventually discovered that it was a bad address. I really don't understand where that address came from, but honest, it really was working had me fooled into thinking it was working when I added it ... Also, in adjacent edits, why did you change the dates from "yyyy-mm-dd" to "d mmm yyyy"?

And on a third topic - have you had a look at J150W recently? I've created heaps of red links for you just in case you are ever bored and at a loose end ...
(It both amuses me to see some of the really-rather-obscure people who do have a WP page, and surprises me to see some of the quite significant people who don't!)

Regards, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:34, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the URL for me, and cleaning up the naming conventions for the refs. :) FAC is tricky, but I've saved a couple of articles before, and thought it might be interesting to see if it is any easier to create a new featured article than to repair an old one. I removed the URL because it was broken, and as I hadn't used the online version as a source (I have my own copy), I figured I'd remove the broken URL until a good one could be found. The dates are for consistency - YellowMonkey pointed out, and I should have remembered, that for GA/FAC all dates need to be in a consistent format. I used the other format because in the old version of cite news it auto-linked dates if thay were in yyyy-mm-dd, but with autolinking discouraged that's no longer wise.
And yes, the Jubilee Walk is looking impressive. :) I've got a few people I'd like to add, so I'll start work on them soon. I have enough for sourced stubs/starts for everyone on the list.\, although I'll probably only do the ones which interest me in depth. Unfortunately a whole lot of them interest me. :) - Bilby (talk) 13:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

"and thought it might be interesting to see if it is any easier to create a new featured article than to repair an old one." - and is it easier?
"I hadn't used the online version as a source (I have my own copy)" - OK, I'm hooked. How/where did you get your own copy of a document published in 1927?
"The dates ... " - a) Fair enough. b) Oh dear! Sorry I asked!! (I generally go to some considerable effort to keep out of that minefield!)
"And yes, the Jubilee Walk is looking impressive." - Really? I think it's still a bit of a mess, but as you've probably worked out, I have "Grand Plans" for it!! (Isn't it a shame how reality gets in the way of "Grand Plans"!!)
"Unfortunately a whole lot of them interest me." - My personal POV is that it is not at all unfortunate ...
Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 13:53, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

BTW: File:Villers memorial adelaide.jpg. I haven't been able to locate pictures of any of the others yet - sadly, User:Beneaththelandslide is no longer around to be asked if they exist. Pdfpdf (talk) 10:57, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

A tad easier. When fixing an article you're trying to source claims, while when writing an article you try to write sourced claims you've already found into it. I guess it depends on whether you like writing or researching. As to the book, I had a copy made through the National Library - if I understand the process correctly, I effectively paid for the inline source you found. :) But since playing with Wikipedia I've been getting a good collection of old SA history sources, often through garage sales and odd market stalls. Finally, I stopped by today to get a picture of inside the memorial again, and noticed that all teh crosses were back. So I now have photos of all of them. They'll need a bit of work in Photoshop to reduce the reflections on the plastic covers, but I'll upload them when done. - Bilby (talk) 13:34, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey, this is probably a very long shot but here goes: do you happen to still have access to the Fighters magazine articles about Jackson, or any of the other sources listed in the article? I read that you had seen them on WP:RSN. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 22:05, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, it seems I do. :) It looks like you're going through some of the problems I've faced before - I'll run through the article and make sure that the sourcing is accurate where those are concerned, and I'll see if I can help on the discussion. Plus I think I can get hold of a copy of the Romany Routes article, given time. (I tracked down a copy at one point, but it was interstate, so I didn't follow it up). - Bilby (talk) 04:25, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
I was planning to do this tonight, but it seems that I need sleep after all. :) I'll go through the article in the morning and check against the sources. I've spotted a couple of minor problems already, so there should be something for me to do. - Bilby (talk) 13:12, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Awesome! I didn't notice your response here before I saw you edited the article :) What do the articles say about Jackson's "street fighting"? If they mention it, it's no rush looking up the Romany Routes article as that's the only material it sources (well, that and the "Henry Jackson, King of the Gypsies"-thing but that was removed from the article by Diamondannyboy so unless he wants it back in I doubt it'll be brought back up). --aktsu (t / c) 16:40, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I've got nothing on street fighting. I know he was mentioned in that article, and the article was on bare-knuckle boxing, so without looking it up it seems possible. The closest I get to a second source is a claim in Fighter Magazine that Jackson went for MMA because it was a natural progression from more unstructured combat. By "unstructured" I presume that they meant street, but they didn't say it. - Bilby (talk) 23:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

basically I dont anything more to do with wikipedia, I dont want any of my comments showing for personal reasons, I want them removed and all my account close.--Diamonddannyboy (talk) 12:11, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

NPOV from Club Penguin Media Dept.

Again, I have been in contact with the Club Penguin media department - is it OK to add refs and info from them? I'm asking you bcause I think it would break NPOV - what do you think? --Vinni3 (talk) 10:31, 21 February 2009 (UTC) (btw, your talk page needs archiving, it's kinda long.)

It's ok if you feel that they are appropriate. They're a primary source, but there is nothing wrong with using content from a primary source, so long as it is used properly. :) - Bilby (talk) 08:54, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Further to:

Healey's "S.A.'s Greats" - nla, UofA, UofA catalogue, Historical Society
I've noted that "Mary Lee's plaque appears between Stow & Strange."
Does Mr Healy explain why she appears in the "S"s up by Bonython Hall rather than back with Lewis / Light & Litchfield down by the Museum?
Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:57, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Good question. No, he doesn't say, and I can't figure out why. :) Her maiden name was Walsh, so that's out, "Sufferage" would place her after Strange, and putting her with Helen Spence (which would make some sense) would place her back a bit. Plus her bust is right down at the start of North Terrace, so that's out too. :) - Bilby (talk) 08:48, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
