Disambiguation link notification for January 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited United Kingdom general election, 1997, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages George Gardiner, John Blackburn and Alan Howarth (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Local elections results
[edit]Hi there - I noticed you've edited the Portsmouth local election page with the ward results (THANK YOU!) - just wanted to confirm - when filling in the percentage change column, should the percentage change always be from when these particular seats were last up (i.e. four years ago) or from the last time the ward voted (i.e. 1 year ago) - just wanted to double check as I was going to try and fill out some of the Fareham ones (I stood as a candidate in Warsash) but wanted to make sure I got it right! Guyb123321 (talk) 11:36, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
Don't worry, I am BitterGiant (talk) 15:27, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
Hey - sorry I don't know if you misunderstood - I was just trying to ask when putting in the swing should you take it from four years ago for a council seat or from when the ward was last contested (i.e. in most cases either one or two years ago) Guyb123321 (talk) 23:55, 7 May 2018 (UTC)
...I know and have been doing that, mate. BitterGiant (talk) 00:41, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi again, not sure if you understand - I wanted to confirm as I wasn't 100% sure - for editing other pages - should the swing be from a) four years ago or b) from when the ward was last contested - I am asking a question...Guyb123321 (talk) 09:38, 8 May 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Gerald Vernon-Jackson for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Gerald Vernon-Jackson is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gerald Vernon-Jackson (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Bearcat (talk) 16:57, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for raising concerns in regards to the issue of the sources. Although I disagree on discounting the City Council profile, you are of course right with the others; I had intended to simply put them in as temporary placeholders, however this was shoddy on my part and I should have held off creating the article until I had those references. But I disagree that this is reason to delete the article (again). Vernon-Jackson is not merely a lowly councillor, but indeed Council Leader; this fulfils the second bullet point of the linked criteria of notability, although this will require a revision of the references so that it is more reflective of that criteria.
I will be making those adjustments to the article. Deleting the article (again) is, I believe, unnecessary. BitterGiant (talk) 00:17, 12 June 2018 (UTC)

Portsmouth Map
[edit]Hi there, I've added the Portsmouth local election map to the talk page on the 2018 election - please can you engage in a discussion there before reverting any edits please as I am very confused as to why you think the map is incorrect! Guyb123321 (talk) 22:18, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi. I've replied, happy to have a chat on the phone if easier but please look at the Portsmouth map Guyb123321https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/ext/documents-external/cou-basic-ward-map.pdf (talk) 22:31, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

[edit]I see that you (and other editors) seem to be currently involved in an edit war over the interpretation of MOS:INFOBOXFLAG. Since the edit war has expanded to multiple articles (1, 2, 3, 4 just to name a few), I suggest you all calm down and have a talk about it. After all, you are surely aware of WP:CONSENSUS.
As to the direct matter of "flags in election infoboxes", that seems to have been discussed multiple times previously on the relevant talk page, see for example Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Icons/Archive_1#Overuse_of_flags_in_election_templates; Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Icons/Archive_3#Flags_usage_in_Template_National_elections; Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Icons/Archive_4#Template:Slovenian_elections; and many others. 107.190.33.254 (talk) 23:01, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello Bitter Giant, may I refer you to the talk page on the article. A link to Samantha Lees Facebook campaign would be appropriate in the description box. Thank you. I put Samantha lee into the box as an independant with links to her Facebook campaign page and also her endorsement by Wiki_Ballot, I am the person who started Wiki_Ballot so declare an interest there, The Table is not user freindly to new editors and in a By Election with a number of independent candidates could I ask that other editors observe wikipedia's policies to;Be polite, and welcoming to new users− Assume good faith − Avoid personal attacks − For disputes, seek dispute resolution Glad to see Bondegezou here to keep an eye on things. I am reporting you for edit warring
[edit]I am reporting you for edit warring on the Administrators' Talkpage, wrt the article 1955 United Kingdom general election — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blether (talk • contribs) 13:08, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Blether, while it is your prerogative to do so if you feel I have overstepped a boundary towards edit warring, I would be remise to not note that you did not set up a Talk discussion on the matter when you first changed it to the Unionist Party in September, nor when you first noticed I had changed it back, nor when others changed it back, and indeed went to far to ignore the Talk discussion that I had established in which I had laid out my reasoning for reverting your initial change to make a Talk discussion in which you levied what I do feel are derogatory comments towards me, in violation of No Personal Attacks.
I will be reporting you for this.BitterGiant (talk) 13:24, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Blether: Sitting on this for a bit, and allowing myself to exhale, as it were, I will instead respond with the guidance of WP:RTI as laid out by the admin page, and reach (or rather, ping) out regarding what I do feel was uncivil behaviour. As such, I feel that the comment you made regarding me Talk:1955_United_Kingdom_general_election#Consensus_before_edits_-_Scottish_Unionist_Party were derogatory, demeaning my intelligence as a fellow contributor, ignoring WP:GOODFAITH, and disregarding my national identity as a fellow Scot on the basis of presumption. I am also not, as you refer to me in the user report, a 'he'. As my userpage clearly shows (and has for a while), I am they/them, and while I presume that this misgendering was not done deliberately, it is hurtful nonetheless. I hope- when you return- we can be more constructive in this discussion. BitterGiant (talk) 13:51, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
