Israel and Ossetia

[edit]

Please explain your removals of the Israeli training info at Talk:2008_South_Ossetia_war#Israel_removed_from_body. I don't see anything that's unsourced. Superm401 - Talk 05:05, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed rbc daily, but I still disagree on the Debka reliability issue. I overlooked the France and Ukraine mention in Jpost. I just put the cite in for them now. Superm401 - Talk 06:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Israel is a big player, but France and Ukraine are also mentioned (though without sales estimates because I don't have them). Superm401 - Talk 06:21, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

German film stubs

[edit]

Hi, BlueSalo! I see that you are creating stubs for the German oscar submissions, just like me!! Haha! Good. BomBom (talk) 23:13, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, BlueSalo! I copy-edited the List of German submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and added information and references in the lead section. I think the list is now ready for a featured list candidacy. I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter before nominating. BomBom (talk) 01:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated One Day in the Life of Andrei Arsenevich, an article you edited, for deletion, with this comment:

Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. No consensus

[edit]

It's been only a day since you posted your idea. You can't say there is no disagreement.--Michael Friedrich (talk) 14:00, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't mean to make a lie. I just did not realise you edited before me. That's all. But your idea has no consensus. You usually wait for a week to say there is no disagreement.--Michael Friedrich (talk) 14:09, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tarkovsky

[edit]

Hi BlueSalo. I am new to Wikipedia, so additional comment as to why things are deleted would be helpful. I lectured on film at Stanford from 1984 to 1992, and worked on the light table in the basement of the PFA (Pacific Film Archive) over the same period. But I am actually a mathematician, so not the best film scholar (although I have sat through over 700 hours of Tarkovsky theater screenings, many of which I personally funded). I first read the Bergman quote in the 2003 PFA write up. I think the Bergmann quote summarized the influence of Tarkovsky better than an entire article. I am not going goig to recreate the section, but I am going to be WP:Bold and put it in the influence section, but delete it if you disagree. (I also have a Salo question I will put in a new section below.) Thnx EricDiesel (talk) 16:57, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See discussion at Talk:Andrei Tarkovsky. Голубое сало/Blue Salo (talk) 18:28, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pasolini Salo Question !!

[edit]

I am the guy who in 1986 or so, paid Firewater Films to restore the sound on one of the two Salo prints with English subtitles, using my meager mathematics National Science Foundation funds (the print that has the black book in it). I am also an amateur 20th centry musicologist with many composer friends. A question in the air for 20 years is, who composed the piano music for Circle of Blood? (The guess among film composers at the Founders Room at the Disney, during a performance of Dalapiccola, was Dalapiccola.) Do you know the answer? It has been bugging me for twenty years. EricDiesel (talk) 17:02, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My username refer to the novel by Vladimir Sorokin, which refer to Salo (food), not related to the city or the film. Hence no idea, sorry. Голубое сало/Blue Salo (talk) 18:28, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
darn!! Well, I don't recommend you watch the film. Most of the audience walks out when this music starts playing. EricDiesel (talk) 22:37, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Too late, I watch the film already from the first to the last minute. Although I looked somewhere else during the last scene (the one seen through the binoculars). Well, I guess that means that I am quite hardened. Голубое сало/Blue Salo (talk) 23:07, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would you please be so kind as to read my edit befor reverting it?

[edit]

Do not revert my edit blindly without reading it[1]. I did not re-added the list! Novidmarana's edit was extrordinary bad. Didn't you read it because he is pro-Korea? He added [sic] without reason and called Shunpei Mizuno a rightist without source. It is only a harassment and he seems have no intention to improve the article. I have to say you reverted my edit blindly.--Michael Friedrich (talk) 17:23, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is really no reason to shout on my talk page. Novidmaranas edits might be biased, but adding the information that Shunpei Mizuno publishes in right-wing journals is as important as mentioning that he is a professor. Also, there is a convention to add [sic] to quotes according to the Manual of Style. Discussion over. Голубое сало/Blue Salo (talk) 18:05, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. I don't know which right-wing magazine it is. If the article mentioned it, there would be no reason to delete it. Novidmaranas's usage of [sic] was clearly wrong, though.--Michael Friedrich (talk) 19:48, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Philipp Holzmann

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Philipp Holzmann, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. mboverload@ 01:42, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Andrei Rublev (film)

[edit]

Hi, thanks for the very useful link to the Style guidelines. I will not continue with working on the plot until I have re-read them carefully. I am actually having rather hard time expanding this plot, and as I do it I go through the film episode by episode. On one side, there are elements in the story that should not be omitted, such as the role of Kirill in the capture of the skomorokh (as this explains his appearance in the last episode), or the meeting of Kirill with Theophanus. On the other side, I admit that I overdid it at times (e.g., "knocked out headfirst against a tree"), but here the original phrase ("brutally treated by a group of soldiers") seemed inexcusably vague and, I daresay, stupid to me. This plot section already has some unnecessary out-of-the-storyline extras ("One famous scene shows a horse falling from a flight of stairs and being stabbed by a spear. Another famous scene shows a cow set on fire."), while at times the plot as such lacks clarity. I will deal with that as soon as I come to it. In the meantime, please feel free to correct my version as to make it more concise without forfeiting accuracy and clarity. AlexNB (talk) 04:07, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am just wondering whether you asked for the deletion of the three articles Prize of the Ecumenical Jury, List of German companies by employees in 1907 and Chemische Fabrik Kalk. Could I recreate them, via Google cache because they certainly look like good and encyclopaedic content. Novidmarana (talk) 01:09, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
