Evansville, Indiana
[edit]We have an unregistered user (I.P. address 166.170.58.55) attempting to make substantial changes to the Evansville, Indiana page. In particular he or she is adding substantial amounts of pictures to the history summary, along with other detailed historical notes. My belief is that these substantial details belong on the history page dedicated to that subject and not in the summary section of the city's article. If you think I'm in error please let me know via the discussion of this issue on the Evansville talk page. Many thanks.--YHoshua (talk) 04:54, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
JSTOR Survey (and an update)
[edit]Hi! Just a quick update that while JSTOR and The Wikipedia Library discuss expanding the partnership, they've gone ahead and extended the pilot access again, until May 31st. Thanks, JSTOR!
It would be really helpful for growing the program if you would fill out this short survey about your usage and experience with JSTOR:

Creating a page
[edit]I want to create a new article on a trumpet player named Jumaane Smith, but there doesn't seem to be that much information on him for me to write a substantial amount! either because not many people have noticed him or he simply hasn't revealed much. From his "résumé" of sorts on his site, he's done what many performers only dream of, and then some. Do you think this is enough notability for me to create an article on him?
Also, it's Toast from the Grimm Wiki. Supertoastfairy(Talk) 14:02, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Request for comment
[edit]Hello there, a proposal regarding pre-adminship review has been raised at Village pump by Anna Frodesiak. Your comments here is very much appreciated. Many thanks. Jim Carter through MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:46, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Great American Wiknic 2014 - Southern Indiana
[edit]I'd like to invite you to add a Southern Indiana event for the Great American Wiknic. This year we're aiming to coalesce nationally around July 6, but any date that is convenient to your local community works as well. And don't be shy about putting something preliminary on the national Wiknic page, it all helps!--Pharos (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Meetup
[edit]I just realised that I'd never responded! Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it; I'm preparing to be moving to Pennsylvania. Nyttend (talk) 11:34, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Me, neither. I plan to be in Macedonia, as it happens. -- Vmenkov (talk) 01:06, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Please fill out your JSTOR email
[edit]As one of the original 100 JSTOR account recipients, please fill out the very short email form you received just recently in order to renew your access. Even though you signed up before with WMF, we need you to sign up again with The Wikipedia Library for privacy reasons and because your prior access expired on July 15th. We do not have your email addresses now; we just used the Special:EmailUser feature, so if you didn't receive an email just contact me directly at jorlowitzgmail.com. Thanks, and we're working as quickly as possible to get you your new access! Jake (Ocaasi) 19:48, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:58, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
[edit]Hello, Bob the Wikipedian. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Dim Effect
[edit]The article Dim Effect has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No indication this term has found currency outside Ratcliffe's own work; most of the cites just support the argument the editor is making, they don't actually support currency of the term "Dim Effect" itself.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MatthewVanitas (talk) 05:37, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
Nomination of Dim Effect for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Dim Effect is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dim Effect (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. SpinningSpark 13:17, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
