Welcome!

[edit]

Hi there, welcome to the tropical cyclone WikiProject! I've been editing here for a while, and I try to reach out to new editors, in case they need any help or ideas. There are lots of projects that need to be done. I see you've helped with one of them - updating the track maps. I see you've made a few of them, like Norbert in 1984.

Speaking of that, let's take the map for Norbert in 1984 - be sure that the date of creation is whenever you upload the map. I presume you have the track map software? So whatever date you made the image is what you would put there (since the technology to make that map might not have been around in 1984!) So if you want to have the proper information on the Norbert map, here is what you need to copy/paste in:

{{Hurricane auto track map|type=Hurricane|name=Norbert (1984)|source=NHC}}

Right now, you released the image as creative commons, but typically our maps are put into the public domain, just so it's easy licensing across all platforms. Please let me know if you have any questions about editing. And if I might ask you a question, what kind of projects are you interested in getting into? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:40, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not really sure, maybe like making hurricane tracks or doing minor edits. Bruh2899 (talk) 20:06, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sweet! Tracks are useful. There are season articles going back to the 1970s all around the world, and even further back for other basins. I saw you work on the Pacific - that goes back to 1949, so there might be a lot of maps still left to update. Don't feel like you have to do them all at once, and if you ever feel like you don't want to do it, you don't have to! That's the joy of Wikipedia being entirely a volunter-based system. Everyone does what they can for the betterment of the project (except those trolls who just want to mess things around), so thanks for whatever you can do. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:10, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
