Possible news story

Hey, I was wondering what you thought of this, from March 11. I was considering creating an article, but wasn't sure what a good title would be. SpencerT♦Nominate! 21:09, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

St. Patrick's Day hook

Please source that the song "St. Patrick's Day" appears on the album that you proposed for DYK. I'm verifying the sources. The stub tag should be removed from the article, too. Thanks! Royalbroil 00:38, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Found one at All Music and I verified the hook. Royalbroil 01:01, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
No problems! I already moved it to the next update. It should appear on the main page in just over 14 hours. You're going to be getting a lot of DYK credits in the next day! Good job with helping the world celebrate the day. Royalbroil 02:00, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Phew, verified that super long and complex (yet interesting) hook about the 2008 Meteor Awards. I used the Lisa Hannigan image - I've always liked her since I first saw her singing on Damien Rice's video for "Volcano" on VH1. It's the best looking picture anyhow! Royalbroil 02:31, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Sinéad is a one-hit wonder in the U.S. who offended lots of people - lots of people consider her a crybaby. Lisa isn't very well know. I never was Damien's fan, just Lisa's. I immediately figured that she'd outshine him. Anyhow, congrats that your GA made the main page on DYK! Royalbroil 02:52, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Crybaby because she ripped up a picture of revered Pope John Paul II on national tv, and because she was very emotional in speaking every last thought that came to her mind. Royalbroil 03:12, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

When there's one possible there should be one. Sometimes, we've kept on items that should have aged off because they had the image. SpencerT♦Nominate! 21:21, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Yup, Talk:Delorentos/GA1. Speaking of isolated areas, d'you want to collaborate on an indie band's article? The band I was thinking of is Los Campesinos! - awesome band but neglected article. Might be a challenge to find sources, but I'm up to it :) What do you say?  GARDEN  20:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

<-- Unfortunately I ain't so hot on Irish musicians so I can't help you much there (different charts and everything!) Into Scottish music?  GARDEN  21:35, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh, your other question. It's transcluded so it will stay there.  GARDEN  21:37, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh wow, that is pretty detailed. I can't say I know too many Irish bands/artists. Snow Patrol are more Northern Irish/Scottish I suppose. Obviously the massively famous groups like Westlife, The Corrs, blah, blah, I've heard of (but intensely dislike). However, some of the bands I listen to might be Irish, but I don't really know. Give me some Irish bands I might know and I'll tell you if I do :P The Partol article is really close to a GA I reckon. And it's a bit of both worlds, eh? (I'll go and hide for comparing you to Northern Ireland now, shall I?)  GARDEN  22:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I honestly meant no offense and should have been a little more descriptive in my revert than a generic "completely disagree" explanation. I am researching the article and subject, as I definitely see some potential in this article. The trick is to find a little more biographical data in the media, which is a little thin at the moment.

Template colour schemes..... I'm thinking Pastels!

Hi there, I have changed some (but not all) of the TV templates to standard colours. Initially I changed them all but reverted a few. Some of your colour schemes aren't bad, some like Celebrity Bainisteoir were not so nice, especially using the colour red on links!! Now, I know colour schemes are subjective, and one persons tasteful is another persons tasteless, thats why there is standard colours, maybe a bit dull but inoffensive. You must all consider users with poor sight (disabled and the elderly), having very garish colour schemes doesn't help them. Also, the Panel one had a white background which fades into the standard white windows background making it hard to read. Also, why did you move 3e back to Channel 6? Channel 6 doesn't exist any more. I've also added "I'm and Adult, Get me outta here!" to the RTE template, it must be worthy of an article, if only for the social commentary aspect of house buying at the peak of the boom. Puijila BBC article

The reason I removed the BBC article is because it's foolish and misleading; just for one thing, it states that Puijila was an ancestor of modern seals, which is simply wrong. It also say that it is the "oldest", wrong again -- Enaliarctos is older though more similar to modern pinnipeds. I'm sorry to say it, but although the BBC is a good source for some purposes, their science journalism is usually c.r.a.p. I think this article shouldn't be included in the External Links when better general-audience discussions are already there, such as the New Scientist article or the one by Ed Yong.
