Uta-Renate Blumenthal moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Uta-Renate Blumenthal. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and verifiability issues. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Justiyaya 03:44, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CRolker, Wikipedia is quite strict on sourcing for biographies of living people, the page needs a lot more sources before being published. There might also be WP:Notability issues with it as well. Feel free to ping me if you are confused or have questions :D Justiyaya 03:46, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for carefully explaining the reasons for you turning it into a draft. I do not think there are notability issues (i.e. her international reputation can easily be demonstrated) but I agree the publicly available sources for her CV are scarce. Her homepage used to be more detailed before she retired, IIRC. So perhaps we have to be content with the German Wikipedia for the time being. atb, CRolker (talk) 06:47, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Justiyaya, I found the detailed CV I mentioned and updated the draft. I am aware that self-published sources can be problematic, but it certainly contains no "undue self-praise" or controversial claims; the problem remains, however, that I have not found many other sources. Yet the positions and fellowships she held (the Radcliffe Institute, Heidelberg University, and All Souls/Oxford are generally seen as rather prestigous institutions in her field of studies) are indicative of her reputation, and hence notability. What do you think? CRolker (talk) 23:32, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CRolker WP:NACADEMIC is the subject specific notability guideline for academics and professors. I don't think any of the criteria is met by the things listed in the CV. Even if it is, I do think that a separate publication that is from the organization is needed apart from the CV as a source.
I'm not great with this specific guideline, so feel free to ask for a second opinion somewhere else, like the WP:Teahouse or with Template:Help me. Justiyaya 11:27, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your time and helpful comments! CRolker (talk) 12:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have added more reviews of her work and moved the page to mainspace (Uta-Renate Blumenthal). She meets WP:AUTHOR with multiple reviews of multiple books. I did edit the page to remove some statements about her personal life for which I could not find a reliable source. DaffodilOcean (talk) 17:06, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, how very good to see the article in mainspace. atb, CRolker (talk) 17:42, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing. I assume the issue is that too much information is taken from the CV on her university website? My impression is that university homepages are commonly seen as reliable sources for academic CVs. This is true e.g. of other (living) female fellows of the Medieval Academy (Judith M. Bennett, Elizabeth A. R. Brown, Caroline Walker Bynum). However, if the CV is not a reliable source, would it be better to remove the parts based on the CV only? Thanks in advance, CRolker (talk) 12:49, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
PS Would the LoC authority file (https://lccn.loc.gov/n78063505) be seen as a reliable source? In the German Wikipedia (where I tend to edit more), the German equivalent is sometimes seen as not reliable enough, hence my question. atb, CRolker (talk) 12:52, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CRolker - I think I can make an acceptable Wikipedia article about Uta-Renate Blumenthal. If you do not have plans to move forward with this article, I could start with the text that was moved to your userdraft space. DaffodilOcean (talk) 11:25, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to do so. In fact, I only abandoned the plan because I could not overcome the demand for more reliable sources - a principle I hold dear myself, but apparently there are even strikter criteria to be met than I expected. In any case, I's be more than happy if you take it on. atb CRolker (talk) 12:12, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
