Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello, Charles.2345, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page (User Talk:BigrTex), or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Comparison of J2EE and .net framework, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at Talk:Comparison of J2EE and .net framework. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

Again, welcome!  ~ BigrTex 05:09, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bilsom

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Bilsom, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please write {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. BigrTex 05:18, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I should have explained myself in my edit summary. As per MoS:DP, level 2 section headers should only be used for disambiguation lists of over 30 entries. But not withstanding that, there were problems with your edit: You converted some of the headings to section headers, and others you left as before. Why is "In music" different to "In films and theater"? Some of the headings start with "In", others don't; some have the first word capitalized, others don't. And finally, your first heading is "misc", which should really be at the end of a list, not at the beginning. --Bruce1ee 07:20, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages are not forums

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:KVM switch are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. A tag has been placed on List of programs broadcast by DD metro requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Matthew Glennon(Talk to me) 22:02, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
