Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Kelty Hearts F.C. has been reverted.
Your edit here to Kelty Hearts F.C. was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCotykyEc5H_EijG12wutzlQ) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Control copyright icon Hello Cipow, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your additions to Kelty Hearts F.C. and Cumbernauld Colts F.C. have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:00, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ryan McCann, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Defender (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

References were provided for the majority of changes, for example Ian Little. I used the official website of Whitehill Welfare F.C. but yet this was still reverted???

I feel only a minimum did not have references yet you have reverted most of my work. I will continue to update the SLFL, but if my hard work keeps getting reverted I feel I have no choice but to no longer contribute to this website.

All changes are 100% accurate, unfortunately there isn't a lot of sources as such on squads due to the nature of the league and moves happening often with websites not being updated by the clubs. It takes two mins on twitter to see a squad list or how a kit looks.

I cover the league as a job and just wanted to keep info up to date, if I can't then I won't. Simple as.

It's very simply - you need to provide reliable sources for every edit, and you need to use WP:EDITSUMMARIES to explain your edits. Doing that will avoid further reverts. GiantSnowman 08:53, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I went over every edit I made and checked. There was some on the player profiles which were not referenced, I counted maybe 4 out of 20-30 edits of mine you reverted.

I thought the actual squad reference to clubs website which I have referenced on every squad I've done would be suffice for the player also (if you bothered to check) i.e official site. Your reverts were completely unjust on the majority, in my opinion. Majority had reliable sources i.e club website.

Also one edit you reverted for Craig O'Reilly and some others was fixing it up as the club was not correctly linked via wikipage, you have clearly not checked the edits you have reverted.

Also submitting [WP:EDITSUMMARIES]] to a squad list would be counterproductive, surely? As if a player is added to the official site i.e a reference already added, why would I need to describe it? You would just need to check the reference.

It's very simple - You saw one or two articles with no references and reverted 20 odd perfectly referenced articles.

Apologies for reverts

[edit]

Hi there - in the recent past I mass reverted your edits. I should not have done that - whilst there might have been issues with some of your edits, I should not have undertaken a blanket revert, and should have taken more care to look at each individual edit, for example to see if I could improve it. For that I apologise. It might not seem it, but I am here to help - so please ask if you need anything. Sorry once again. GiantSnowman 09:41, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

https://staging.wesoccer.co.uk/en/fixture/2344/line-ups is used by the Scottish leagues to collect its data for the league, if that's not reliable then what is? The reason I know about the transfer as I was at the game and saw Ryan playing for Edusport, not as a trialist like Pat Scullion meaning he's signed with them. He does not appear on the Edinburgh City squad list nor their website. He has clearly moved to Edusport.

Apologies if you used talk page before I added source.

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Anton Brady article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 21:29, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Ridiculous reverts again Giant[[User talk:GiantSnowman|Snowman]. Anyone can see what EK have won on the linked wiki pages. Respectfully, you need to get a grip or no doubt will be reprimanded again...

WP:WIKIPEDIAISNOTARELIABLESOURCE. The source you added merely confirms the club's honours, not the player's... GiantSnowman 15:11, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've done your job for you by finding and adding a source which explicitly confirms he won the honours. PS keep up with your personal attacks and I'll be seeking further action against you. GiantSnowman 15:20, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Response

[edit]

If you done that in the first place- you wouldn't have had to revert perfectly accurate information... GiantSnowman

It's not personal but massive issues with correct information being removed and again what I was saying was 100% accurate. Think that's your issue, not mine.

No, you have a long track record of inadequately sourcing material about living people. That's a problem. GiantSnowman 15:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was not calling you stupid by the way. I was merely saying the notion of players having not won honours when they were clearly at the club is ridiculous. Are the wiki pages themselves not sources by the way??? You just need eyes to see.

You have the track record of being reprimanded for your incompetence, not me. Revert everything I've ever done and we'll see who's work is more accurate mine or yours.

You haven't a clue, mate.

Complain about me if you want. Like to see you keep everything up to date without my help.

Cheers.

Minor edits

[edit]

Information icon Hi Cipow! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Mutt Lunker (talk) 15:20, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Response

[edit]

Hi, (talk)Lunker Thanks for the feedback. Do you know which article you are referring to? I often add one section/explaining what I've added in the description then touch it up in stages to ensure accuracy. Apologies, if this is not the correct way. I will endeavor to try and make better use of minor edits.

Kind Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cipow (talkcontribs)

Hi there, have a look at the link I posted above to see the explanation as to what a minor edit is. You've marked nearly all of your edits as minor but few of them are under the Wikipedia defintion. For example, I note you have added headings to various articles saying "Lowland League". These regard a matter of fact so do not count as minor edits; please don't mark them as such. This edit is certainly far from being a minor edit. Best wishes. Mutt Lunker (talk) 15:50, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clearing that up. (talk)Lunker apologies for the misuse. I thought this would be acceptable as it was just adding a subheading for a head to head table referring to the league in which that stats concerned. No issues, I will add appropriate descriptions going forward. Thank you.

Yes, that's understandable but "minor edit" has a specific use here and anything that deals with even fairly trivial factual matters does not count as one. By the way, it's good practice to sign your posts, so that people can follow the dialogue when reading them; see WP:SIGHOW. Mutt Lunker (talk) 17:22, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just a reminder to please not do this. There's no particular issue with your edits otherwise and I'd encourage you to carry on the good work. Mutt Lunker (talk) 12:43, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

GiantSnowman

Please give me time to do so. I am still editing the page while you took the time to type this to me!!!!

It is not difficult to add the reference at the same time as you make the edit. I had enough time to see your edits, find a reference, and add it to the article... GiantSnowman 11:50, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this is another personal motive reprimand which is uncalled for. It was mere minutes between my edits and the time it took you to send me this message. Also I was still in edit when I got the notice which created conflicts on the page. So in my opinion, uncalled for. Any more and I'll need to take it up with arbitration as it seems to be an issue with yourself and nothing to do with my work which I have tried to provide references for.

Seems things haven't changed with you, mate. Still on a power trip. I'm happy to provide sources but we've been this road a few times. Nothing ever good enough for you. The player is referenced in the club page with a perfectably viable source from the club website. Not sure how that's poorly sourced? Pathetic as always. Cipow (talk) 12:32, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The source needs to go in the article, referenced in the club page doesn't cut it. Content in articles needs to be supported by references in the articles. None of the sources in the Callum Wilson article support a move to Cumbernauld Colts.
When your return from the block, have a look at Help:Referencing for beginners if you haven't yet. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:46, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

People get things wrong at times, GS is no exception. But you need to make sure to include your reference when you add the content. If you do that, I'm sure you will have a lot less contact with GS and other administrators. Robby.is.on (talk) 13:14, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I appreciate it. Sometimes I like to add info first then the reference, that's on me, but I wasn't given a lot of time to do so before getting warnings and eventually banned for 48 hours. But I will try to add both going forward to avoid any unnecessary hassle for myself or moderators. I have thousands of edits on this site and I've only had bother with one moderator as you can see from my talk page. But I'll let bygones be bygones, ultimately I'm aiming for things to be as accurate as possible similiar to yourselves. Cipow (talk) 15:10, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
