Notability of Corey schell

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Corey schell requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. smurdah (talk) 17:49, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The recent edit you made to Corey schell constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. --Say Headcheese!-hexaChord2 18:56, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that your updates were removed! Unfortunately, your updates were removed by User:HexaChord because you removed the {{db-bio}} from the page. He/she was correct to do this, because it is considered inappropriate to remove the Candidate for Speedy Deletion text without discussion. (You can read more about this policy at Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion). If you dispute the CSD nomination, the correct process is to add the {{hangon}} tag directly below the {{db-bio}} and then put your reasons on the talk page. If I can help you with that or anything else, please let me know! I'm happy to be of assistance. --smurdah (talk) 19:13, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ya I did that on accident im sorry! I did not notice it until now...

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 19:46, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Corey Target Shooting.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Corey Target Shooting.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Corey Schell

[edit]

I restored the page's content to User:Cjschll/Corey Schell if you would like to keep working on it. (you won't have to worry about anyone nominating the page for deletion while it is in your userspace) Basically what needs to be done is you need to establish his notability by providing citations to reliable sources so that readers can verify that what is written is accurate. Once you do that, you can move the page to the correct title by clicking the 'move' tab at the top of the page and type the new name in the second textbox on that page. If you need any help with this or if you'd like me to review the article for you, feel free to ask. Good luck! Thingg 03:10, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I think the infobox is good now. However, you still need to demonstrate that the article's subject meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines found here. (if you read that page, it will help a lot) It would also be a good idea to add inline citations to the article so that readers can easily see where the information is coming from. How you do this is add <ref>citation text here</ref> after the sentence or paragraph you are citing, like this: and he died under mysterious circumstances in 1879.<ref>http://www.randomsite.com</ref> Another method you can use to help standardize your citations' formatting is to use the template {{cite web}} in between the <ref> tags. Example: <ref>{{cite web| url=http://ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614619p1.html| title=IGN: E3 2005: PS3 Official| publisher=IGN| last=Sulic| first=Ivan| date=2005-05-16| accessdate=2008-01-14}}</ref> Note that only the 'title' and 'url' options are required; more info about this template can be found on the template's page. After you have all your citation info between the ref tags, (and it doesn't really matter what you put there, though I would recommend that you make the effort to learn how to use the template as doing so will really help you learn how to use Wikipedia's "code") all you have to do is put "{{reflist}}" in the References section and the server-side software will take care of the rest. If you need more info on how to add and format citations, you can try this page. However, I do have to warn you that unless you can demonstrate this guy's notability, your article will most likely be deleted again if you move it to the article namespace, regardless of how well written and formatted it may be, so I strongly encourage you to look over the notability rules before you put any more work into this article. If you need any more help. feel free to ask. Thingg 23:34, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you do me a favor and go look at my page and tell me what else I need to do? Cjschll (talk) 19:03, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took a quick look. I see Thingg has given you good advice already. The article looks much better formatted but I still don't see enough assertion of notability to pass muster. As is, I suspect as soon as you copy it into mainspace an editor will tag it for deletion for lack of notability. Please read WP:BIO and I'm not sure in this case, but I think it would fall under WP:ATHLETE. And it is also an autobiography which is strongly discouraged. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Template:Cite web/sandbox, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
