For your information, a book cover or any other fair use image is not allowed to become a featured picture. Please see Wikipedia:What is a featured picture? for more information. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 07:04, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GreenGoblin.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Belle cameo.PNG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Belle cameo.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:0092-2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:0092-2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 16:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:HugoStrange.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shell babelfish 02:25, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:HugoStrange.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HugoStrange.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:25, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Turtleatadvancedage.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Re

[edit]

Hey, right now, I'm busy with real life. However, I"m still thinking of whether I should create the page for many reasons. 1, we have enough problems with the potential superpower page, with people adding sources that are OR or SYN, then calling me a stupid Indian or American when I point this out. Then we have people try to add their own countries using OR or SYN sources, usually pointing that if a country like India can be one (even if they have no clue about India except from what they watch from Slumdog millionaire), then call me a stupid Indian. When I point out that they can't really say countries like Russia or China cannot be called a superpower at this time (even if I may think those countries might or might not be a superpower) because of a clear lack of consensus within the academic community, then they call me a stupid american. Not too mention, after looking at the great power page, the Potential superpower page needs to be completely redone. All we have is potential superpowers and why they might/ or not be superpowers, not about the history of trying to predict superpowers, so the entire page needs to be expanded and re written.

Because of problems like this, I'm still deciding whether the page should be created or not. While superpowers and great powers are really big things in power, we don't want to start a trend where we make pages like potential middle powers, potential regional powers, etc. I've asked 2 members of the same project. One said yes though keep a closer eye on it as the potential great power was once a page, before it was deleted because it was pure OR. The other said no as it would be hard enough with our little members to try and settle disputes, and we have plenty enough as it is.

Anyway, I was still looking for countries. I know for sure that India and Brazil are considered potential great powers, though I think both of them are great powers anyway, and I might bring up having them added to the great power page, but that's a maybe. However, Turkey, Mexico, and Poland are from one book, and one book is not enough. Iran is a maybe that I thought of. Anyway, I'm still debating on whether I should create the page or not. Hopefully once summer starts, and we can get Great Power and Superpower to GA status, then I might consider it. Deavenger (talk) 20:36, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I came across the site a couple months ago. Only problem is, I don't know if it was reliable. So I was thinking of taking it to the reliable sources notice board just to double check, as the site kind of seems sketchy to me. So if possible, take it to the reliable sources noticeboard just to make sure it passes all the reliable test, as the site seems sketchy, but the creators of the site seem reliable. Deavenger (talk) 23:26, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, I brought the source to the reliable source board here. Deavenger (talk) 01:40, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. It's nice to have editors who want to help and not cause disruptions or edit wars on the pages. I'll tell you when I plan to begin major work on the article. Deavenger (talk) 20:08, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
