Speedy deletion nomination of Curtiss Pope

[edit]

Hello Curpop,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Curtiss Pope for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Hi, @CoconutOctopus, you asked for the deletion of my Article for Curtiss Pope ands its notability. Can you find where this does not fit Wikipedia's Notability guidelines? The subject is the creator and investor in multiple companies that have been reported on in reputable publications (that are cited and referenced in the page) as well as the creator of a foundational technology products that are part of the American retail and business landscape. Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Curpop, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Writing about yourself is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians.

As this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them. A page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to or change it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Curtiss Pope moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Curtiss Pope, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Curpop. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Curtiss Pope, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 22:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Im not sure I see the conflict of interest here. Above it says the reason why was " An article you recently created, Curtiss Pope, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) " Every source cited was independent. Curpop (talk) 22:41, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 what is the issue with the article? Curpop (talk) 22:41, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You have created two articles, the Curtiss Pope article (now a draft), which is your autobiography, and AisleFinder, your company. That is about as strong a conflict of interest as it gets. I'm tempted to move the AisleFinder aticle to draft as well, but, regardless, you must declare your conflict per the instructions in the above notice. Otherwise, you risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:44, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23 ah I see, I left that out. Im so sorry . I added, and removed some content to make more neutral. Thank you Curpop (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The conflict must be declared on your userpage. I've moved AisleFinder to draft space. Just as with your autobiography, your company must go through the WP:AFC process. You should not be creating articles directly into article space or moving them to article space on your own.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:02, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Curtiss Pope, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
