Brahmanism

Hi, I've nominated Brahmanism for deletion as per WP:NPOV. Do give your opinion here. Thanks, --Babub 10:47, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Naming Conventions

You left a message on my talk page back in May; unfortunately, I've been AWOL from Wikipedia since getting full-time employment, so my apologies for not having responded in a timely fashion. However, my suspicion is that the issue would have been resolved as far as my areas of (roughly speaking) expertise, since Sanskrit diacritics are thoroughly documented and have enjoyed scholarly consensus for quite a while now. -- Kukkurovaca

Portal:Anime and manga selected series

It has been generally agreed upon that anime articles that have been selected as AMCOTW will be the selected series for the following week. Please don't "stuff" other anime series into the selected series section without first discussing it with others at WP:Anime. --TheFarix (Talk) 02:51, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I'm not sure whether you know much about Saraswati, but I was just wondering how she was introduced into mainstream Burmese Buddhism. I've uploaded an image of her in Burmese form (Image:Thuyathadi.jpg) because I felt that it was suited for the "Appearance" section of the article, because many of the characteristics written about Saraswati are featured (although she looks Mongoloid, is wearing Bamar clothing, and is holding the Buddhist Tripitaka). If you have further information about her, please tell me. Thanks. Hintha 06:38, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed you've set up a redirect for WP:SPORT - to a target I find fairly perplexing. Can you please explain your rational for this redirect? WilyD 13:46, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Oh, alright, I see - it comes off as surprising when you're looking for a policy on inclusion of atheletes and you end up at a Sikhism portal. WilyD 19:56, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

P.S. Just looking at the preview of this message, I see that it does make the sidear appear. Maybe you could explain more? KarenAnn 12:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

I have seen this on the India, Australia and cricket projects. It's a good way to classify the articles. See Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Assessment, Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/Assessment and Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Assessment as examples. GizzaChat © 13:07, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Hopefully, I can finish it over the weekend, and I am available to do more Hindu translations if that was what you were looking for. It's an interesting read of the article. Hindu Unity

It seems to me that you are acting in an uncivil manner. Please remain civil and don't resort to making personal attacks or instigate edit wars.

I'm sorry, but is Hindu Unity Norwegian? Greek? It's pretty clear that it is Indian and should be identified as such. Plus, why are you so hell-bent on removing it from Hinduism? Osama is listed as Category Muslim and I was told over and over that that label will stick. By the same logic, the Hindu label on the Hindu Unity should stick.

Also, the specific threats section was CITED. GO visit the website right now to make sure! Here's wishing you an enlightened day! --Disinterested 08:45, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

3rd False Accusation of Vandalism

You accussed a user of vandalism on the Indian American article on this edit when they added a period after the colon of the sentence. The user who added the period on the sentence may not have seen the colon or may have thought that adding a period after a colon is grammatically correct. Wikipedia:Vandalism does not include using poor grammar.--Dark Tichondrias 13:39, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject Bengal

Thanks for re-organizing content, but what's the meaing of removing stubs related to Bangladesh? The project, as you might have noted, is NOT on "West Bengal", rather the historical region of Bengal, which now consists of Bangladesh and West Bengal. In fact, Bangladesh has 75% of the total Bengali population. So, I assume the removal of the stubs was a mistake, and I'm reinstating them. I think you were intending to create Wikiproject on West Bengal which is fine as a sub project/sister project of this particular Wikiproject Bengal. Thanks. --Ragib 18:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

head's up

The Babri Mosque article has been unprotected! There was a nasty edit war with Rushdie & our old friend Lkadvani. request you put it in ur watchlist coz it was full of anti-Hindu garbage before (I think it's ok for now, but do look at it anyways for any POV left over).Netaji 04:27, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

It was extremely well-balanced. But Rushdie and Lkadvani got burrs up their glutius maximii because I removed some anti-Hindu veiled slurs from the article and balanced it out. They instigated an edit war and a smear campaign and so an admin had to protect it. I just anticipate another hurricane from that lot coming in the article so was hoping that some people could watch it (I am, but I'm one against many of the POV pak). I'd be mighty grateful if you could also keep your eye on it, that's all. Thanks.Netaji 06:43, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Wiki Hindu Pages Forum

Would you care to visit http://www.wikihindu.ipbfree.org. Do you think this could provide us the space to improve Hinduism related articles without being disturbed by people who would like to spoil them? Aupmanyav 18:20, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

This seems like a good idea. Maybe we can try an IRC chatroom, see WP:IRC. GizzaChat © 07:21, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
It is like MSN and other instant messngers, to an extent. If two people working on the same article are online at the same time, instead of posting back and forth on the talk page, it is much more convenient to use IRC. GizzaChat © 07:28, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
The main Wikipedia one always has hundreds of people. The Esperanza one has about twenty or so. There is an Indian one, which I don't think has many. GizzaChat © 07:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Why not! It definitely won't harm the project. If we give one to people like Dab and Aupmanyav and say "On behalf of WikiProject Hinduism" it will direct them towards the project and perhaps they will start talking on that talk page instead of Hinduism. GizzaChat © 07:48, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Hindu Teacher's Infobox template

Hi! You left a message for me about helping creating an Infobox for the Hindu project, and I'll be happy to. I would need to know what categories would be needed, and what color you want to use for the top of the box, etc. Wikipedia:List of infoboxes/Society has a list of proposed colors for religious leaders/teachers, and the color they list for Hindu is a pale green. You won't need to use their color scheme, but we should update their list if a different color is used so that there will be unique colors for each religion. Anyway, thanks for asking me to help. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Nightngle 16:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Here's a first draft of the Template:Infobox Hindu teacher/leader, let me know if you need any changes or modifications. It should be easy for users to change to fit their article as well. Nightngle 22:28, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

TF Infobox

Greetings. I've recently signed on to the Transformers Project, so it's a pleasure to be able to chat with a fellow fan. The reason I wanted to speak with you is I've made a NEW Transformers Template/Infobox to replace our current one. I've seen from your comments that you do not feel we need a new one right now and we should just stick with the small and simple one but if you'll just hear me out I was looking around and there are some great templates being used on the Spiderman and X-Men pages and they look very professional and comprehensive. Also, with the movie coming out next year I'm guessing old fans will be searching on Wikipedia trying to catch up on everything that has happened and this box is a simple but comprehensive navigation tool. Also, the Transformers pages are just generally in an icky state and navigating them manually can be a bit daunting, so this is a great way to fix that. I'd like to get you suggestions on making it better and you're okay to use it, but I do feel it would make a great replacement. You can find it on the TF Project Discussion page. Cheers. With regards to Pakistanis and Arabs

You seem to think that we identify with Arabs a lot. You know, there are a lot of Pakistanis in the Gulf Middle East along with Indians and Bangladeshis, working for the same reasons in more or less the same fields and have shares in Dubai and such. For all their "Arabness" barely any Arabs treat us like kith or kin. In fact, a crime that a Saudi would get merely fined for, a Pakistani can get executed. This has happened before. Also, just because we are apart, doesnt mean we cant still be culturally the same. Bangladesh is still a "desi" country, in fact, it uses that suffix in its namesake. Par example, UAE and Saudi Arabia are separate states, yet both have the same Bedouin Arab culture and history and both acknowledge each other as culturally the same or similar, in civilian form of course. IDK about political relations. But yeah, regardless of what nationalist Pakistanis feel, the FACT is that we are historically the same. Hinduism, in fact, originated in what is now Pakistan. Lahore, our most cosmopolitan city, was of Hindu origins (legend says, founded by Rama's son Luv) and was very much Hindu as was Muslim in the pre-partition days. Indian Muslims, if anything, are identical in every aspect with Pakistanis, as Urdu language and culture is the common bond between them. Afghan Historian 18:34, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks.Hkelkar 02:37, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, could you please email me?I'd like your advice on something.Hkelkar 11:08, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I was hoping for some help in preparing my case in my RfAr.I think you should be able to email me by clicking on the link above. If you can't use that for some reason, then perhaps you can suggest a time and place that we can meet on irc room #wikipedia-in or something. It is not 0524 am where I am and I have to sleep but any time that you feel convenient is OK. Or, you could temporarily set up an email link in your wikipedia account and I could contact you within 24 hrs (then you can remove the email from your wikipedia account if you wish).Hkelkar 11:25, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello,

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar. Please add any evidence you may wish the arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar/Evidence. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Hkelkar/Workshop.

Hinduism assessment

I will work on adding merging and adding assessment options to the Hinduism and Mythology banners. -- Ganeshk (talk) 15:17, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Template is ready!

{{WikiProject Hinduism}} is ready with assessment options! Please check the template page for usage. Could you please post at the related-projects about this? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 05:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

What parameters do you want at Template:Infobox Hindu teacher/leader? -- Ganeshk (talk) 05:54, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Andal categorization

I found that you removed Andal from Hindu Saints categorization. I think we need a separate category for Hindu Saints, involving the alvars, nayanmars, Mirabhai, etc. and in the process of creating one. Thus, I'm recategorizing under Hindu Saint too, along with Hindus categorization.

I see that you have been in loggerheads with him concerning his virulently racist and anti-Hindu views (this is with regards to arguments between you and him some months back on Muhammad bin Qasim and Cheema). He has soiled the RfAr with a lot of nonsense and fiddlewhack and perhaps you could cite diffs of his statements to you. Thanks.Hkelkar 00:40, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Since you were harrassed after Fundywatch by bhaisaab add diffs and evidence to your own section at Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Hkelkar/Evidence. Once this bakwaas is over, I might go to my hindi wiki account working on Hinduism in Indonesia and what not. Bakaman Bakatalk 19:41, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi D Boy, I have asked for permission for LostBot to tag Hinduism articles. Once I get that, I will start tagging -- Lost(talk) 06:22, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes we have similar stuff for WP India. I will tag as follows: {{WP Hindu|class=|importance=}}. For stubs, I can auto tag them as stubs. But to add the specific workgroups like Hindu mythology etc, a customised plugin is required. We are still awaiting the customised plugin for WP India. Kingboyk has promised to do one for us. Till then we are tagging only the generic articles and leaving out ones that are assigned to workgroups such as history, politics etc. Will do the same for WP Hindu -- Lost(talk) 18:37, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Hindu teacher/leader

I have added code to hide params when not supplied per your request. -- Ganeshk (talk) 02:04, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I have changed the name to Template:Infobox Hindu leader so that it does not create in a sub-page. -- Ganeshk (talk) 02:06, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
