Speedy deletion nomination of Trailers From Hell
[edit]A tag has been placed on Trailers From Hell requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. E Wing (talk) 19:09, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Adding links and promoting a specific web site in every article of every contributor to that site is contrary to the encyclopedic purpose of the project. Thank you. Ckatzchatspy 23:51, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but, what? I'm just a fan of this material and I think that the contributions of its gurus (as they are legends) represent a significant and noteworthy mention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dannymears (talk • contribs)
- Wikipedia is not a PR service; it does not exist to promote individual sites. There is no reason to add mentions of this site on the pages of every one of its contributors, especially when the notability of the site itself has yet to be determined. --Ckatzchatspy 09:47, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- But, and I'm coming to this as a fan, many times I want to know what people are CURRENTLY working on. For most of these directors and writers, TRAILERS FROM HELL is the very thing that they are currently doing in between jobs. Making movies is a long process with lots of downtime before actual projects get up and running. Noting that someone is currently contributing as a guru to the site is something fans should want to know.
- It is important that you read the external links guideline, before reverting inappropriate links in. You are repeatedly linking to a bio page on the site, not an objective resource. The bio page - as with most biographies used in this way - is in all likelihood either edited by the subject, overseen by he subject, or contributed by the subject's PR people. IMDB, on the other hand, is more likely to present facts without opinions. Furthermore, even if this were not enough to invalidate the link, it is also already linked as a reference. We do not "double link" by listing URLs as both a reference and an external link. --Ckatzchatspy 02:08, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yet another warning, for repeating the same behaviour. --Ckatzchatspy 07:48, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- I do not believe that posting a link to a page that lists factual and current information about someone to be spam. Trailers From Hell is just as much a resource -- and no less a business -- as a website such as IMDB or the All Movie Guide. It is a resource that a reputable encyclopedia should cross reference and link to for the most complete information. I can't believe you don't see that.
- You are edit warring to restore an external link contrary to the established guidelines and policies of the site. Are you even aware of the quality of the link you are adding?? It starts off by saying "Guillermo del Toro says he has 'a fetish for insects, clockwork, monsters, dark places, and unborn things'". We are not here to add links simply because they exist, but instead if they offer something beyond what the article can deliver. Simply put, that link offers nothing - nothing - of value beyond what is already in the article. --Ckatzchatspy 09:15, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- False. It offers a link to Guillermo's material on Trailers From Hell. Sure, it starts with some biographical information, but, really, the link is there so interested parties can find out more about Guillermo del Toro's submissions to Trailers From Hell.
- Saying "false" doesn't make it false; you are clearly a single-purpose editor whose only intention is to (by your own admission) promote the TfH site. You have repeatedly edit warred, reverted back non-conforming material, written about the site in a clearly promotional style, and repeatedly misapplied external links when the links already existed as references. --Ckatzchatspy 08:52, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I am NOT a single-purpose editor. I have interest in other subjects to edit, but I have not yet been able to move onto them because my CONTRIBUTIONS KEEP BEING AXED. I do not see a difference in linking to IMDB over linking to Trailers From Hell. Both are reputable, important, and viable resources for cinema.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page John Landis has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.trailersfromhell.com/gurus/2.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Brian Trenchard-Smith do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

You have been blocked for a period of 31 hours from editing Wikipedia for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia.
We are not an internet directory, we are not a place to promote this site. We are writing an encyclopedia here. Please stop and gain consensus on adding, don't keep on adding while others show concerns. You are now blocked for 31 hours. --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:00, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
OK, I have been going through your contributions, which are simply all relating to your website. Reading above, yes, you are a single purpose account, even when you say that your edits get removed, the only interest you show is getting your links in, even while others have concerns (you could do something else, and/or discuss first, you know ..). You really have to read up on our policies and guidelines. Also note, that pointy removal of other links does not help your cause. Those links may have been included after discussion, something that you fail to do for most additions. Stop adding your links, and discuss (when your block expires). I am sorry, but repeating this behaviour after your block expires will very likely result in more, and probably longer, blocks. I hope this explains. --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
You have been blocked for a period of 72 hours from editing Wikipedia for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia.
This is the second block (following multiple warnings) for the same behaviour. Wikipedia is not a site for advertising other web sites, nor is it the place to promote your personal favourites. Please contribute useful information, rather than simply adhering to a single-purpose focus on promotional text. --Ckatzchatspy 17:45, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
