License tagging for File:Coral Springs Covered Bridge - Welcome.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Coral Springs Covered Bridge - Welcome.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:09, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tennessee Valley Fair requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. two speedy deletion requests

[edit]

I am sorry to say that I have nominated two of your State Fairs for speedy deletion. No content is the reason why. I sufggest that you make such articles in your own workspace (simular to User:Night of the Big Wind/Workpage8) to avoid those accidents in the future. Night of the Big Wind talk 13:09, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are right

[edit]

I wasn't sure how to create my first article, but now that you have pointed out the workspace, I will take advantage of it. DarkFrog 09:55, 30 August 2011 (EST)

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, Iin lieu of deletion.I just added some content to the 2 fair articles just to start things off. Much more is needed--see other State Fair articles. Write about the history of the fair, no tthe current one only. Include references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Remember not to copy from a web site -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable.

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the organization and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those attending the fair.

I advise you to add more, and do so quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process. DGG ( talk ) 13:31, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Advice

[edit]

As soon as I get home from work, I will expand the article.

Re: Adoption

[edit]

I would be glad to adopt you. What issues are you having? Bernstein2291 (Talk Contributions Sign Here) 23:09, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I have a lot of free time now, I would like to do more on Wikipedia. I am more of a person that likes to correct things. Take File:Archila DAR 1959.jpg for example. It lacks a description. I this example could I add the description, "Man playing violin". The file was uploaded over a year ago and I don't think the uploader is going to correct it anytime soon. --DarkFrog (talk) 23:15, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
When you edit the page, in the block of the text there is a piece of formatted text, which when using the right syntax produces a block called a template. While each template has its own syntax, they are all quite similar. In most cases there is a name for the section where you want to have the text appear followed by an "=" sign, which is then followed by the text. So if you want to add a description, find the line which says "description" and place the description you want after the "=" sign. When you're done press "Show preview" to see if it came out well. If it did, save the page and it should appear. Also when you want to link to an article or file put the title of it inside brackets, like [[Banana]], or in your case [[File:Archila DAR 1959.jpg]]. Orphaned non-free media (File:Utah State Fair Logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Utah State Fair Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:07, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Georgia National Fair, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page State Fair (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you for uploading File:WiX logo.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Senator2029 ➔ “Talk” 17:33, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
