Hey, the protection listed for Jamie Bryson at the AE log does not appear to be an enforcement for any remedy under the case listed. Did you possibly mean to place it under TROUBLES, or perhaps BLP? You should re-protect it to make clear and move the log item. Izno (talk) 03:52, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

@Izno: amended to WP:ARBTRB. DatGuyTalkContribs 18:56, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your edits to User talk:Stephencolbert.

I disagree. The reason we removed blocked user notices is because there is already one (on the contributions page). Thus there is little point in having this still up. The second notice actually provides useful info which is why I am suggesting it be kept. Otherwise it is not needed. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis ❄️ 23:37, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

The deletion rationales were all "people who don't know what they're doing are misusing it." It seems to have been used appropriately on User:Stephencolbert. DatGuyTalkContribs 08:39, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

Your e-mail

Hi DatGuy, please don't think that my not replying to your e-mail has anything to do with you personally or attach any negative meaning to it. As you've probably noticed, I am trying to work out a way forward for Magna. It was going well at first, but most recently, it's been a bit heavy going. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:26, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

No worries. DatGuyTalkContribs 21:15, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

Was my extended confirmed removed as I gamed the system before?

Unfortunately, I used to vandalize and made a ton of dummy edits in around early October. Is that the reason why my extended confirmed was taken? Senor0001 (talk) 19:27, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Plus, some of my more recent edits on my userpage was because I was customizing and testing around with it. I do not game the system anymore. Senor0001 (talk) 19:28, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Not only your userpage, the rest of your edits appear to be low-quality, mass-performed too. In seven years I've made 218 edits to my user page, and I used to mess around with it a lot. You've made nearly double that in three months. DatGuyTalkContribs 19:38, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
yes, but around 300 of them are “bad edits” and was in early October where I thought of cheating the system, which I did. Senor0001 (talk) 19:41, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
anyways, is it possible you could help me become a better “Wikipedian”? It’s fine if you don’t want to, but I genuinely thought at that time, that more edits, no matter the quality, is better and I will get more user rights and “perks”. Senor0001 (talk) 19:44, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia. Helping newbies isn't something I've got the time for now, but you may ask through Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user. DatGuyTalkContribs 19:46, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Ah okay, thank you. I will try to improve and make useful edits. Please don’t tell the admins to block me, as I am now willing to make useful edits, with assistance from an experienced “Wikipedian”. Senor0001 (talk) 19:59, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

SportsStatsBot misinformed edit

I'm intrigued by SportsStatsBot's edit[1] which updated the date in the 2022-23 Championnat National league table to show Updated to match(es) played on 7 November 2022 - when it is in fact only up to date to matches played on 4 November. Doubly confusing because there are actually matches taking place today (as I type) which, obviously, are not included in the table. I have reverted the edit, and would appreciate you investigating how it happened, in order to avoid it happening again. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 19:42, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

@Gricehead: don't worry, the bot only made the edit since the padding between Avranches, Paris 13, and the rest was different. It wouldn't only modify the updated date. DatGuyTalkContribs 19:44, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
The updated date should not be updated unless a match has taken place, due to the wording of Updated to match(es) played on 7 November 2022. The edit makes the statement factually wrong. Can you please code the bot so it removes padding (if required - not sure this is required at all as it makes no difference to the displayed page, and appears entirely cosmetic) but doesn't update the date? Thanks, Gricehead (talk) 19:47, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
I realise the edit (besides the date update) is only cosmetic, but I consider this to be a rare case that shouldn't occur again. If it somehow does, let me know. DatGuyTalkContribs 20:01, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Today's edit [2] updated the date to today's date: 8 November 2022. But the games took place on 7 November 2022. So this is wrong. The bot needs to ensure it is using the date the games took place. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 11:09, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

Will fix. DatGuyTalkContribs 11:51, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

Leslie Phillips vandal

Hi, thanks for posting Leslie Phillips to RD. Unfortunately, an IP 194.230.161.17 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) is making constant disruptive edits, changing dates without sources and removing the sources for the correct date. I have taken it to the talk page, but they won't reading it and so I have to frequently restore to the correct version. What can I do? I've listed them at "Administrator intervention against vandalism", is this correct? Thank you. Humbledaisy (talk) 21:14, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

Yes, that's correct. Seems it was taken care of. DatGuyTalkContribs 06:50, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

Question about a template

Hi DatGuy,

Thanks very much for closing the SPI I filed so swiftly. I have one question regarding the template you placed on the blocked IP's userpage. That template includes the sentence Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. But my understanding is that, in order to be allowed to contribute again, the sockmaster would need to petition to have their indef block lifted from their initial user account (in this case SCPSLBFCPCFB), not merely wait out the temporary block on the sock IP. I get that templates like this aren't perfectly fitted to specific contexts, but in this case –– where it's clear that the sockmaster doesn't think they've done anything wrong and appears intent on continuing their socking –– a less ambiguous message may be helpful. I'm not sure what the solution is, and whether it might involve revising the template itself, but I thought it might be useful to raise the issue. Thank again, Generalrelative (talk) 22:01, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

@Generalrelative: The user of an IP can change frequently - the template wording is there to help simplify the confusion. Also, I'd just like to commend you for hat high quality SPI you filed. If every case was like that SPI would never have a backlog. DatGuyTalkContribs 06:52, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm glad to hear it. With regard to the template wording, I appreciate what it is trying to convey. If I'm feeling saucy I may take it up at the template talk page at some point. Much appreciated, Generalrelative (talk) 16:39, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I inform you that hours ago you blocked that account, but he maintains open access to his email and few minutes ago he left me an email threatening me because I did some administrative actions on another Wikipedia project. I would appreciate it if you can adjust the block preventing mailing as the user seems to be harassing multiple admins on multiple projects. Greetings. Taichi (talk) 05:42, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

Revoked. DatGuyTalkContribs 08:24, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
hey, it's your decision, but I would recommend you to block that account temporarily or at least unblock mine, I know I responded aggressively, but I have even apologized for him to reject it and he reports me of crosswiki harassment like here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Taichi&diff=24013074&oldid=24012593, I also tell him that I'm to blame because i had vandalized, I vandalized out of anger, but I won't do it anymore, but even so he continues to reject me and instead of telling me "okay, but don't do it anymore", he erases my apologies 131.108.168.164 (talk) 22:20, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
