Spotlight

Hiya,

Some users have decided to try and relaunch 'spotlight'. I've helped out a bit; hope I'm not 'treading on any toes' here; it just seemed like the best approach was to simply give it a try - hence changing the project page around, and starting to work on an arbritrary article.

If you want to get involved, please do so. I will let the other previous 'coordinators' know too. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  16:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

The Beatles at The Cavern Club - GA review

Hi, Dendodge, I'll be reviewing The Beatles at The Cavern Club. I've posted initial comments at Talk:The Beatles at The Cavern Club/GA1. --Philcha (talk) 13:29, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Dendodge - as a minor contributor I've offered my own reply to a question on the review page. You may need to go directly to the /GA1 page to see my reply, as the transclusion didn't seem to kick in for the subsections (or was it just my browser cache?). Let me know if there's any particular way I can help during this review. PL290 (talk) 14:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

WikiCup Newsletter XXIV

Hi- I've seen that the above portal has unfortunately lost its featured status. Is is possible that we could use the portal box skeleton templates to give it some borders and colorized headers? I see that you have a sandbox for it, and was wondering if we could revamp it, once and for all??!! :) --Funandtrvl (talk) 18:06, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I've tried to clean it up a bit, still working on the WikiProjects box. Do you think the formatting for the selected series: articles, songs, etc., could be formatted a little better, like the {{selected article}} series of templates would do? I'm not sure how to deal with the User:Kevin baas/box template1, however. --Funandtrvl (talk) 02:20, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi- Great, but I kinda like the honeydew color, and solid green border, like this: background:honeydew; border:1px solid green !! :) --Funandtrvl (talk) 19:00, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Honeydew is #F0FFF0, right? I'm trying to find a contrasting darker color that would match a little better, like maybe emerald, sea green, teal, etc. A shade of green would work for the portal, since the members of the group were always into environmental concerns. --Funandtrvl (talk) 19:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm trying out a few for the title background, back to you in a few...--Funandtrvl (talk) 19:20, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay - for title background, try MediumSeaGreen, #3CB371. I think it contrasts with honeydew a little better. I've got to go to work now (darn!), so I'll ck with you later on, thanks --Funandtrvl (talk) 19:33, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

WikiCup participates in the Wikipedia:The Great Wikipedia Dramaout

Hello all, iMatthew here. I just wanted to let you know about "The Great Wikipedia Dramaout" which starts this Saturday. The goal of the Dramaout is to spend five days working on improving articles and abstaining from any of Wikipedia's drama. I don't think that any of you will have a problem focusing on articles for five days, because of course, any work you get done during the Dramaout will count towards your score in the WikiCup. Details are on the page; hope to see you all signing up! :) iMatthew talk at 00:27, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

WP:NODRAMA reminder

Thanks for signing up for the Great Wikipedia Dramaout. Wikipedia stands to benefit from the improvements in the article space as a result of this campaign. This is a double reminder. First, the campaign begins on July 18, 2009 at 00:00 (UTC). Second, please remember to log any articles you have worked on during the campaign at Wikipedia:The Great Wikipedia Dramaout/Log. Thanks again for your participation! --Jayron32.talk.say no to drama 21:13, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Change necessary to your monobook.css

The !important must go immediately after the 90% (with a space in between) instead of outside the brackets, on the .localcomments line, otherwise it won't work :) Gary King (talk) 22:03, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Travel WikiProjects

Hi again, Now that we've done a pretty good job cleaning up the Beatles Portal, I've noticed that you are also the coord. for WP Vacations. A few of us are trying to organize the Travel WPs, maybe under a main WP, such as: WP:WikiProject Travel and Tourism. We'd like your input at: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tourism#Inactivity. Thanks much --Funandtrvl (talk) 16:10, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for making WP:NODRAMA a success!

Thank you again for your support of the Great Wikipedia Dramaout. Preliminary states indicate that 129 new articles were created, 203 other articles were improved, and 183 images were uploaded. Additionally, 41 articles were nominated for DYK, of which at least 2 have already been promoted. There are currently also 8 articles up for GA status and 3 up for FA/FL status. Though the campaign is technically over, please continue to update the log page at WP:NODRAMA/L with any articles which you worked during the campaign, and also to note any that receive commendation, such as DYK, GA or FA status. You may find the following links helpful in nominating your work:

  • T:TDYK for Did You Know nominations
  • WP:GAC for Good Article nominations
  • WP:FAC for Featured Article nominations
  • WP:FLC for Featured List nominations
  • WP:FPC for Featured Picture nominations

Again, thank you for making this event a success! --Jayron32.talk.say no to drama 02:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Cavernous GA

Looks as though you've been away for a while; I've added a bit more to the article to try and help meet what we're hearing is needed, but I'm not sure what your take is on the evolving discussion and what you yourself think should happen. So I feel I should now leave it in your hands. But don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything further I can do to help. PL290 (talk) 13:20, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
