Your addition to Paul Lockyer has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. This person Bidgee (talk) obviously doesn't know that a media release by an organization is an official public statement and factual matter that journalists, like Paul Lockyer, would have used in abundance in his own reporting. I've addressed this matter with Bidgee, to plea for his or her education about media releases, and I've asked the community at the Paul Lockyer page to revert this decision.Dobry (talk) 16:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of Resolution:

The basic point by Bidgee (talk) about copyright violation at Paul Lockyer was refuted and he or she backed down because the initial argument made could not be supported. Bidgee claimed that media releases were copyrighted and the quote was "extensive". AussieLegend (talk) supported this assertion about the press release. However, AussieLegend's example showed that the real concern over media releases was using the whole release or straight copying it. Jimbo Wales himself said that media releases could be used as fact. When I pointed this out to AussieLegend, he or she dropped out of the discussion. While Bidgee never said I used the whole media release, which I didn't, he or she claimed my use was "extensive" and still a violation of copyright. I had used a short quote of a few sentences and nowhere near the 100 words that the Chicago Style of Manual says should be given in block quote. Bidgee never was able to actually back up the claim of "extensive" use after I pointed out this fact from style. He or she, too, dropped out of conversation. My conclusion was this: how much valuable time was lost. The article on Paul Lockyer is not complete. In my review, I said that the article on Lockyer seems to skew Australian in its perspective. My entries were outside of that perspective and were not welcomed. I have since backed away from editing Paul Lockyer until time passes and passions pass.Dobry (talk) 20:18, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bidgee has inspired me to articulate my own philosophy of editing, which you may read at the bottom of my About Me. It just so happens that this incident occurred while I was mentoring other new Wikipedia citizens and I could use his or her editing style as a good example of what I am NOT about. While this person may be an admin, he or she has overstepped a bit by claiming that the talk point at Association of Inclusionist was an attack and then had the audacity to use the request to to pull it down as an opportunity for an attack. Moreover, this person never really answered my question when I pointed out facts to define "extensive" but then continues to claim the point in the request. There's a rule against that, too. It's bad form for anybody, but an admin in particular. And isn't there some guideline that we've all heard about that suggests we not go after newbies in such a heavy-handed way. Wow. We wonder why people get scared away. That's why I emphasize a different philosophy to discourage this kind of behavior from anybody, even admins. Recall anybody?   • Thanks for responding. What is your role with the school and this course outside of "setting up the course"? When you state that you "set the course up", are you stating that you entered the data for the course page? The template is designed in accordance with the U.S. Education Program. Additional names in the student section are a bit confusing to the Wikipedia Online Ambassadors that work with students. For the sake of consistency, please go ahead and remove the names of the instructor, librarian, and yourself from the list of students. They can be added following Chad's name under "Instructor". I have removed "Distance Education Librarian (as this is our first campus effort)" from the section reserved for approved Campus Ambassadors. Finally, it appears that usernames are entered for nonexistent registered accounts. We have Ambassadors attempting to communicate with these students, only to receive error messages. The usernames listed are not registered, reserved, or valid on Wikipedia. Please let me know what is happening here. Noramfaizul Mohd Nor

That's an excellent article! I'm not sure about where to get free photos of him, though. Also, I would change the article name to "Death of Noramfaizul Mohd Nor" (more in line with Category:Deaths by person since he is known (sadly) for his death).
