Consensus item for caption

[edit]

The item: The video caption should be "Basic English version of this article (script)" should be changed to something else, as the proposed video would not be a complete reading of this article. Something like "Simple English version of the lead section" might work? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:16, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Changed. Thanks for noting. GeraldWL 16:20, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Video

[edit]

Thanks for notifying me and for trying to jumpstart a project on re-working the video. I have no interest in seeing video summaries on Wikipedia articles in general, thus no intentions to create or help create a video (sorry!). This essay Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not YouTube and this comment by Matthiaspaul basically sums up my thoughts and views regarding the whole matter. If a video summary were to be added to the Coronavirus disease 2019 article, a link to it under the External Links section should suffice. Some1 (talk) 21:21, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Any need for a disclaimer?

[edit]

WP:SPOKEN has a guideline for spoken articles where all of them are introduced by [Article name], from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, at E N dot wikipedia dot org. While this does not fall under that WikiProject, do you know if we need one for something like this? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:44, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tenryuu, Given its similarities and that it has no explicit difference in terms of location (in spoken you just click the icon and you can play it, similar to this), I think that can be a thing here. I'll add it, see how that'll be like. GeraldWL 05:46, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As a somewhat similarly related topic, I don't think the references need to be read aloud either, if anyone's interested they can look up the information on the page for this video's transcript. I'll think about how the footnotes will be spoken. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:22, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tenryuu, yeah, we will only include references in the page. There doesn't have to be references at the video either. GeraldWL 05:10, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
