- Please note as well that the current consensus on the English Wikipedia is that the English name of the city is Odessa and not Odesa. Your argument that Odessa is a Russian name and Odesa is a Ukrainian name is invalid and irrelevant because (i) both languages use Cyrillic and not Latin; (ii) we are interested in the English name anyway. Thank you for understanding.

- The fact is that it is Одесса in Russian and Одеса in Ukrainian. This has no immediate bearing on the English name. Another consensus is that Odessa Oblast and Odessa Raion are not independent names which must be independently discussed, but are derivatives of the name of the city. If/when Odessa is renamed to Odesa, these articles will be moved automatically. And the article about the city is at Odessa for a good treason, and not because you are the first person in twenty years to notice this. Ymblanter (talk) 10:37, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
