Greetings! I ran across a couple of your additions of IPA for Dutch, and they are of very high quality. Kudos! One thing you might not be aware of though is that on the English WP we try to put those kind of transcriptions (in non-linguistics-related pages) into a temple like {{IPA-nl}}. This helps some admins keep a handle on the massive number of transcriptions, ensuring that they adhere to the conventions established at pages like WP:IPA for Dutch, and makes sure there's a link to a page explaining the symbols for readers unfamiliar with either the IPA or the language in question. Also, one or two of your edits included details like [ɫ] or [ɱ], which, while correct, are narrower than our transcription convention for Dutch currently is—of course if you feel that should change, by all means bring it up at IPA for Dutch, we'd be glad to have a solid contributor like you! — ˈzɪzɨvə (talk) 01:26, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Xyzzyva. I will use {{IPA-nl}} from now on instead of just /'s and []'s. I will also look at the help page. Actually, it would be a good idea to add pronunciation indication to lemmas in the Wikipedia that are not native to the language of the page. In the English Wikipedia it would be strange to add pronunciation of "New York" since every native speaker of English know how to pronounce it. But a word like for example "Westerdiepsedallen" or "Schiermonnikoog" is less clear to a speaker of English. I am not a professional linguist but linguistics is one of my hobbies. - Let's try the said template on my name: Dutch pronunciation: [hɑns kɑmp]. Hans Kamp (talk) 07:36, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Contested move
[edit]You attempted to move the page on Ekaterina Gubareva to a different spelling. She calls herself Ekaterina Gubareva. If you wish to move the page, you will need to use the process at Wikipedia:Requested moves, because it is a controversial move.--Toddy1 (talk) 18:32, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
- In that case the edits and the request to move the page, must be undone or denied. Hans Kamp (talk) 18:49, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Order of the Netherlands Lion
A question on the proper use of names
[edit]I am not a Dutch speaker, and I was wondering if you could help me with a question. I hope to do some work on the article on Siebren Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, but I have some confusion over his name. If I refer to him in the body of the text would I use Hazelhoff, Roelfzema or Hazelhoff Roelfzema? Also out of curiosity, he seems to have been commonly referred to as Erik. Why is it the name Siebren was dropped? Was that a preference of the person or his family? Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated. Gunbirddriver (talk) 05:57, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
- It isn't clear for me either. Maybe Siebren was dropped, because it is a bit unusual name in the Netherlands nowadays. Erik is a very usual name. On other websites I see the combination Hazelhoff Roelfzema. Hans Kamp (talk) 15:22, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- That is what I used in my additions to the article. Thanks very much. Gunbirddriver (talk) 20:45, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
