Your recent edits

[edit]

In regards to your recent edits, please stop replacing 'Ganges' with 'Ganga'. Ganga redirects to Ganges anyway. Thanks! Noom talk stalk 19:02, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four halfwidth tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:10, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

edit war warning

[edit]

Please don't WP:edit war as you are at Ganges and related articles. If you continue, you could be WP:blocked for disruption. Contentious issues like this should be discussed on the talk page, but frankly in this case it's already been talked to death. — kwami (talk) 21:15, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This has been talked about before. So we just ignore it and move on? We need a solution in this issue. I made these changes with proper reasoning. However, Mr. Credible simply came and undid my contribution without any justification whatsoever. So I reverted it. Note: I even started a discussion about this on the discussions page regarding this matter. I didn't revert the vandalism on the Ganges page more than three times to avoid an edit war. So far, I have not committed anything that is not permitted in wikipedia. I believe it would be unfair to block me and I request you to take back this edit warning.

If you read the discussions page of the Ganges article and look at the edit history of that article, you will understand that Mr. Credible has been editing without justification and kept reverting my edits over and over again without any reasoning. Is that allowed on Wikipedia?

Consensus is against the edits you made. Credible was restoring the consensus version. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots22:26, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Bugs boy, we never reached a consensus. A consensus is yet to be reached by the wikipedia community Heloworld321 (talk) 23:21, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yogesh feels that I was too harsh with you as a newbie. Sorry, I didn't mean to be. Maybe it's just been too long since I was a newbie. One of the things you might want to skim over when you get a chance is WP:dispute resolution. If that's too long, WP:BOLD is a good rule of thumb. Basically, repeatedly reverting other people is not likely to help you get your way. However, if you can demonstrate that you are factually correct, then you should be able to convince others to back you and help you get your way. — kwami (talk) 04:31, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia

[edit]

Please see the welcome above, it is not for decoration, please follow the various links and spend time on understanding the various rules of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is the free encyclopaedia that anyone can edit, but this is a privilege that comes with a few simple rules. Please do not break them you could be blocked or banned .Yogesh Khandke (talk) 03:29, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kwami above is an admin, please take him more seriously, he has the authority to put you in the slammer. Please edit your user page, so that it would show that it exists. Thanks again, and no hard feelingsYogesh Khandke (talk) 03:44, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please edit your user page.

[edit]

Please edit your user page, it would then not show as non-existent. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 14:50, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He can leave his page as a red-link if he wants to. There is no rule compelling a user to put anything on his user page. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots17:01, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Where did I say that he was breaking rules, I just humbly request an editor to pander to another editor's harmless whim that is related to red-links. I hope he obliges. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 01:55, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't say he was breaking rules. But you're asking him to edit it, so he might interpret that as something he has to do, when he doesn't have to. It's his business as to whether to edit the page or not. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots02:00, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are right it is his prerogative, I have made a request he may comply or he may not, it is his business.Yogesh Khandke (talk) 04:55, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just wonder why it matters to you. There are countless red-link users here, many of which are active and stable. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots07:38, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have requested each such editor who interacts with me, to do. Pl check if you wish. I said before it is a harmless whim.Yogesh Khandke (talk) 10:01, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Where are you running into the "shows as non-existent" problem? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots15:30, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If one runs cursor over the red link, a window pops up that reads user:soandso (Page doesnot exist)Yogesh Khandke (talk) 18:52, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
User:Heloworld321 True, but you can still click on it and then take the tab for the talk page. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots18:57, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What some editors do, if they want to save that step but don't really want to create a user page, is to create their userpage as simply a redirect to their talk page. Again, that's the user's decision. I once tried to be "helpful" and did that for another user and got yelled at for it. So you can perhaps see why I advise caution. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots18:59, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(od)I said my statements are not based on logic, it is a whim, you are right, I could be asked to mind my own business, but if my memory serves right, two editors did edit their user pages, one of them is Ankit.Yogesh Khandke (talk) 19:11, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If I told someone else to mind their own business, at least half the folks watching my page would label me a Grade-A hypocrite. :) Heloworld hasn't edited since Saturday evening, so this whole discussion might be moot anyway. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots19:14, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Ramanarayanan Balachandran

[edit]

Hello Heloworld321. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled Ramanarayanan Balachandran.

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 14:02, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
