Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to Branimir Subašić. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Doniago (talk) 05:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Hayk Hakobyan (footballer)"

[edit]

A page you created, Hayk Hakobyan (footballer), has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content, but does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Doniago (talk) 05:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Levon Hayrapetyan

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Levon Hayrapetyan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Footballer with no professional or international appearances. Will likely be notable in a few years, but not yet.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  – iridescent 16:43, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Artashes Amalian requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Oleggazed! Admin noticeboard incident

Hello, Hovhannesk. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.)

Slow Down

[edit]

HovhannesK, slow down bud. You have created too many Armenian football players who are of no real importance. They will literally all get deleted. Velo01 (talk) 03:05, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions

[edit]

Please review WP:NOTE and WP:BLP. Adding one-sentence unreferenced stubs about non-notable people is not in accordance with wikipedia policy and guideline. It is prefereable to work on one at a time, bringing acceptable sources. When it comes to living people, we need to be extra careful. I'd be happy to undelete them a few at a time for them to be worked upon. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 04:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

new pages about soccer (football) players

[edit]

When you are making these pages, could you call them footballers, or mention it somewhere in the stub. Like in Tsolak Beglaryan, what is a "professional defender"? I see you wikilinked to football, but it's not immediately obvious that it's about a professional footballer unless you look a the categories or click through a link. -- Austin512 (talkcontribs) 03:59, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion the article you are creating certainly can't be speedily deleted, and I feel they meet WP:ATH. However, the author cannot remove a speedy deletion tag from an article. Instead, use {{hangon}}. I've removed the speedy templates the from the pages. -- Austin512 (talkcontribs) 19:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles, as you did to Mkrtich Nalbandyan, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Artur_Arakelyan, Tsolak Beglaryan, Norayr Abrahamyan, Mkrtich Nalbandyan, are all pages that meet the criteria of the maintenance templates that have been added to them. Please do not remove them. This is nothing personal, and they do not indicate anything negative about the articles. Simply that they are in need of maintenance. TRL (talk) 23:37, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Information on your Userpage

[edit]

Hi Hovhannesk. My name is Backslash Forwardslash. I am a Wikipedia administrator, and I noticed you have recently created a userpage. I don't intend to scare you away or attempt to intimidate you, but I thought you might want to reconsider some of the items on your userpage. You may have not realised that the items on your userpage release personal information about yourself (real name or age etc), which could be used against you in the future. While 99% of all the editors on Wikipedia are friendly, welcoming and harmless, there is a chance your personal information could be misused by editors not so 'high-minded'. A handful of editors have even felt real-world implications due to their Wikipedia edits and release of personal information.

Protecting your privacy, and remaining anonymous while on the internet — on any site — is a good idea. The internet is a worldwide and largely unregulated medium, and while Wikipedia is one of the safer sites, there are definite risks while online. With cyber-bullying and cyberstalking becoming increasingly commonplace, it is important that you take every precaution to remain safe.

I have deleted some revisions of your userpage in respect to your privacy for the time being, just in case you wish to reverse on your decision to have such content on public display. As a result, the information is only available to administrators. You are, of course, welcome to ask myself or another administrator to restore them, but I just wanted to make you aware of the risks involved with releasing personal information on such a public forum. If you wish to have the personal information removed so that even administrators cannot view it, I can request oversight on your behalf. You are also welcome to discuss this with me on my talk page, or privately via e-mail if you have any concerns. Again, I do not want to scare you. Wikipedia is a fantastic place with an incredibly supportive community. I'm just trying to ensure you are fully aware of the risks involved in editing, which are very similar to the risks you come across every day online. Hope to hear from you. \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 12:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted your page because it contained personal information, and I wanted to make sure you were aware of the risks in doing that. Would you like me to undelete it, given the information provided above? \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 14:00, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Restored. Continue to remain vigilant. :) \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 14:03, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hovhannes, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish at this article, but your changes don't correspond to the references given (in Astourian, 2007). Please clarify. Serouj (talk) 18:42, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose, at their own discretion, sanctions on any editor working on pages broadly related to Armenia-Azerbaijan and related ethnic conflicts if the editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. Categorization: Armenian people vs. Armenian chess players

[edit]

I know that the Duplicate categorization rule and distinguished versus non-distinguished categories is not the easiest to understand. But think about it this way, first determine what is the added concept in the subcategory, in this case it is not Armenian it is "chess-player". Second ask the question does the added concept imply a concept in the bigger category, namely if you are a chess player are you automatically a person? If yes, the category is non-distinguished. Take Bridges in New York City and Toll bridges in New York City as an example. What is the added concept? Tolls are charged. Does charging tolls imply bridges? No, tolls are charged for other things like expressways. Therefore the subcategory is distinguished. I hope this helps. --Bejnar (talk) 15:32, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm WP:AGF. He is Russian - this is a referenced fact, thus categorizing him as an "Armenian expatriate footballer" is meaningless. You also keep adding "Armenian footballer" stub and category. Are you implying that he has an Armenian citizenship? You should then reference this; I won't revert your edit for some time so you could do that. Whytye (talk) 08:43, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In case if he isn't an Armenian citizen, he shouldn't be referred to as an Armenian footballer, because it's misleading. That is why I've removed "Armenian footballer" category and stub. However, calling him a Russian footballer of Armenian origin is ok (but it still needs a reference). I've now realised that "Russian Armenians" category is also problematic, because it implies that Mikayelyan's Armenian descent is half or more, which may or may not be the case, so this category should be removed as well. I've edited the article based on the above arguments, please not revert but discuss if you still disagree, otherwise it may be considered disruptive. Whytye (talk) 20:57, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About this edit: let's once and for all be clear on the concept of duplicate categories. He's already in Category:Armenian academics and Category:Armenian scientists. Both of these are in Category:Armenian people by occupation, which in turn is in ... Category:Armenian people. See WP:DUPCAT: "If category B is a non-distinguished subcategory of category A, then pages belonging to category B (directly or through further subcategories) are not placed directly into category A". So please, will you at long last stop placing every Armenian's biography into Category:Armenian people? - Biruitorul Talk 20:48, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let's go through this again. Take, oh, this edit. The man is not an Armenian politician (and do click that link). He is not an Armenian economist (again, click the link). Neither is he an Armenian poet, or an Armenian writer (don't hold back from clicking the link yet again). Categories of that sort refer to citizenship. He has never been a citizen of Armenia. Are we clear yet? - Biruitorul Talk 23:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In this article is written not only about assasinations, there are written about terror acts. And there are many sourses calling this processes a terrorism, and many sourses using this term. You must first read a sourses and don't delete them. --Interfase (talk) 16:18, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you can speak German. Good. So this is a sourse about terrorism since 1972 (in German)Terrorismus/Chronologie seit 1972. Do you see information about ASALA and there terroristic activities? --Interfase (talk) 16:58, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand this, but when you title it as Armenian terrorism, it makes it look like Armenians are terrorists, Change the title to Armenian Assasination or Armenian Assasin. User:Hovhannesk

No, this title doesn't show Armenians as a terrorists. Title is a term is used in many sourses. Assasination is another thing, in case of Armenian terroris one of the ways of terrorism. Even in programm of Dashnaktsutun the leaders of party said that one way of their actions is terror. People must known about this term. Assasinations in this case is terrorism. And in article we must show not only about assasinations. --Interfase (talk) 16:10, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article in question has been moved back and forth between various titles for a few years without any attempt at discussion from those who move it. I am removing the PROD on this article because I do not concur with the rationale made for deletion. That said, this article needs 4 specific improvements if it has any hope of surviving the inevitable AfD if they are not made. As the author who has made the most and most recent edits to the list (and I assume you are knowledgble of the subject) I am suggesting you make these improvements as soon as practical.

  • Strengthen the lead-in paragraph by including clear, concise inclusion criteria and a description of what this list is really about. It might read something like: There are at least X [some recognized level of play]] footballers of Armeanian descent who have played or are currently playing for [level of play] teams. In other words, be as precise as possible in describing what criteria is necessary for an Armeanian footballers to make this list. Add appropriate in-line citations and wikilinks in the lead-in to leave the reader with no doubt where this information came from.
  • For every entry that meets the inclusion criteria that you establish in the lead-in, add a phrase or sentence to that entry that provides additional context for that entry. One of the most powerful attributes of a well annotated list is the ability to provide additional and meaningful context for list entries. Lists that are well annotated will never be redundant to categories because categories provide no context what-so-ever for category entries. This list demonstrates the idea Small mammals of Yellowstone National Park
  • For every entry that is red-linked (no article) you must provide an inline citation to validate its presence in the list. For wiki-linked entries, adding an in-line citation that indeed verifies the entry meets inclusion criteria and that annotations are verifiable, does nothing but improve the overall quality of the list.
  • Instead of organizing the list in a purely alphabetical way, consider whether or not you can create sub sections that further enhance the inclusion criteria. For example you could separate entries into current and former players as well as organize them by leagues or levels of play.

I am not familar with nor an expert on Armenian footballers, so these are improvements I can only suggest, but not undertake. If you have any specific questions, let me know. Good Luck--Mike Cline (talk) 19:35, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of Armenian footballers. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Armenian footballers. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Diana Apcar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Re: Armenian footballers

[edit]

I have proposed these articles for deletion for two reasons. There is no evidence I could find of significant coverage that would make them pass the general notability guideline, and there are no sources to indicate that the Armenian Premier League is fully professional as required by WP:NSPORT. If you, or anyone else, can demonstrate these things, I will gladly de-PROD the articles in question, but until then none of them are notable. Best regards. Armenian Diaspora in German Wikipedia

[edit]

Many thanks Hovhannes for your assistance in Marc Aryan. Im khorin shnorhagalutyunes tzer oknutyan. I have now added his name to List of Armenians and to list of French-Armenians and Belgian-Armenians. Regarding Armenian diaspora page in German Wikipedia at [1], I introduced a brief article in German to establish a page, just like we have in a dozen language Wikipedias. But my article was deleted speedily on the pretext it was taken from [2]. After 3 tries and three "speedy deletes" I just gave up on the thing. I usually establish English pages of German language subjects, but this was my first try of a German page with my admittedly very limited of German. But since I notice you are well versant in German language as I see from your user page, I am asking you to prepare a page on "Armenische Diaspora" FROM SCRATCH without relying on any German text so that they don't delete it as they have done with mine. Make it as unique as you can. Also, you can rely for information needed on other language pages on the subject like [English], [Spanish], [French)], [Portuguese], [Russian], so that German Wikipedia is in line with all other language Wikipedias about "Hay Spyurk". Please avoid any ready German text in [3] and in [4]. I think a new original paragraph or two will do the trick. Many thanks. werldwayd (talk) 10:12, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mıgırdiç Margosyan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Turkish. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:50, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hovhannesk. Speedy deletion work is important and I do appreciate the effort. I would just ask that you please review the criteria carefully because accuracy is also important. On that issue, I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Hrach Sergeyevich Aghabekyan as an article that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the topic under CSD A7. That criterion did not apply because being the director general of a notable football team is a credible indication of "importance or significance". Remember that CSD A7 is a lower standard than what is required to demonstrate notability – it does not, for example, require that the article's text already contain citations to reliable sources that would be necessary to prove notability, but only that it contain a claim that, were it true, might reasonably make the subject a valid encyclopedia topic (if proper sourcing could later be found. Your signature

[edit]

Hi Hovhannesk

Per WP:SIGLINK, Signatures must include at least one direct internal link to your user page, user talk page, or contributions page; this allows other editors easy access to your talk page and contributions log. The lack of such a link is widely viewed as obstructive.

Your current signature contains no such link. Please can you add one ASAP? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:52, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Garegin Apresov

[edit]

Hello Hovhannesk. I noticed you added a link for G. Apresov at the Medvedev Fores Massacre. Could you please add the Armenian name for G. Apresov? I couldn't find it. Would it be Garegin/Karekin Apresian or similar? Thanks in adavance. --Governor Sheng (talk) 15:40, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Governor Sheng, the Armenian name would be Garegin/Karekin Apresian as Գարեգին Ապրեսյան as you said correctly. However, Garegin Apresov as Гарегин Апресов is the accepted version as it is common for Armenians in Russia to Russianize their name from yan to ov. I hope you found this helpful. --Hovhannesk (talk) 10:58, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot. It was helpful. --Governor Sheng (talk) 21:02, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hovhannesk, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Category:Russian people of Georgian-Jewish descent, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Page is not a disambiguation page, or disambiguates two or more extant pages. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 07:15, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature

[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

December 2020

[edit]

Couple of things. First, you need to make sure that in the future you sign your talk page posts so that the signature links to your user page or your user talk page. Also you need to remove the speedy deletion notice and restore the content at Albanian Crosses. The article is presently under discussion for deletion and your action is very disruptive. Please save me the trouble of undoing your action for you. Tiderolls 02:54, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
