Seats and Vote Share in Opinion Polls for Next Spanish Election
Hey, the new design that puts the the estimated seats below the percentage in one field isn't really helpful for two reasons: 1) It's impossible to sort. 2) Following the trend isn't as easy as it used to be. This is what you see if you want to follow PP vote since December: 33.9 151/153 35.9 34.7 144 34.1 154/159 36.9 34.5 139 33 34.8 134 32.1
The previous design, the one showing both data in side by side columns, didn't have the sorting problem but made comparing parties in the same poll a bit harder. I don't think having two separate tables was such a bad idea. Sohailjan (talk) 14:39, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Edits to Spanish election articles
Hey, Impru20! First of all, congratulations for your work; I know it's a lot of time and effort and I believe it's worth it.
Obviously, my intention isn't to hamper or disturb your work, so I'm glad you told me where I can go wrong. I only want to help where I fairly can, and sometimes I added some things to some articles to see if they fitted, but never with an aim to impose my way of doing or editing.
To start with, I'm going to stop uploading images, or at least the most controversial ones. If I can help with some articles, I'll be pleased, but also knowing that I too have little and scattered time.
Sorry for the inconveniences and good work! :) Cheers! --Togiad (talk) 22:56, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Asturkian (talk) 19:03, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Missing Spanish Prime minsters
You stated you used http://boe.es/ as a source for the list of PM under Franco Spain. However I find that source to be wrong with various errors in it.
Fidel Dávila Arrondo was Chairman of the Technical Board of the State (Prime Minster) from 3 October 1936 – 3 June 1937
Francisco Gómez-Jordana Sousa was Chairman of the Technical Board of the State (Prime Minster) from June 3 of 1937 - January 30 of 1938
On the page it states Franco became Prime Minster on 30 September 1936, however on Franco's on wiki page it states he became Prime Minster on 30 January 1938. I think we need a new source for the Franco era Spanish PM's if that's the source. There are to many conflicts and several different sources don't match the wiki page.
Proposed deletion of Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 1987
The article Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 1987 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Useless fork of European Parliament election, 1987 (Spain). Should be merged there.
I am also nominating the following related pages for the same reason:
- Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 1989
- Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 1994
- Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 2009
- Results breakdown of the European Parliament election in Spain, 2014
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 04:48, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Don't worry, I didn't think you were rude. I understand the amount of work you have, and I'm sorry to increase it. Anyway, it's OK if you tell me to stop editing some pages, as it's not my intention to bother you more than I already do. Just wanted to apologise for my last edit on United Kingdom general elections, 2017. I realised that the ordering of the tables had changed from when I last looked from alphabetical to seat numbers. Talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Panam2014, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Just to let you know I have reverted your reversion. Per WP:BLANKING, an editor is allowed to remove (almost) anyting from their page, and to revert them on their own talk is somewhat frowned upon :) I note from your edit summary that you are concerned that the other party will 'pretend' they have not seen it; rest assured, that the act of removing a notice is taken to implicitly mean that they have read it before removing. It is then not possible for them to claim ignorance in any defence. The same, conversely, of course applies to you too. FYI. Menorca
The English spelling for Menorca is Menorca. If those are recent history WP:CONSISTENCY would require using the modern English name not the British colonial name. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:04, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
- I rather think all these "Minorca" names are invented anyway. This is more typical: Secessionism: Identity, Interest, and Strategy. Reliable modern English sources appear to give the names of those parties in Spanish or Catalan. There isn't an invented English translation, and if there is it would be with Menorca, the modern English name as newspapers. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:10, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
- Could you please return Santo Tomás, Minorca back to Santo Tomás, Menorca where it was. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:57, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, as you'll see the RM has been closed a second time, again toward modern BBC etc "Menorca". I hope that you will regard British people spelling the island per Catalan/Spanish spelling not Italian spelling as something you can live with. I hope that if you think on it the BBC and so on abandoning the old spelling is something English languages and writers have the right to do so, just as Iberian Spanish has in modern years dropped some of the old traditional Spanish-language exonyms for various French, German and British cities in favour of the French, German and English spellings. Best wishes, sincerely. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:01, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

ANC
Hi! The ANC did not actually call for bringing estelades, here is their official statement on the demonstration. Unfortunately, El Pais's coverage of the attacks has been notoriously biased. Thanks a lot, --Townie (talk) 15:19, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- In the statement, they mention that if you want to bring such flag, people should do that; in no way is it a call to bring estelades. Actually, even ANC's president said that the claim was false. --Townie (talk) 15:45, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
- In their official statement, they did not encourage bringing flags, note that the proposition begins with an if.
- Since Jordi Sànchez called for people to bring flags (he did not specify which ones, estelades or senyeres - or even rojigualdas ;) -, so we should stick to the generic "flags") with the black ribbon, a possible way to phrase the sentence could be "[...], and Jordi Sànchez, president of the ANC, called for bringing flags with a black ribbon. Signs accusing the Head of State of trafficking with weapons were also present." In the interest of balance, I believe we should also add that anti-independence groups gave out Spanish flags for free in the demonstrations. --Townie (talk) 16:47, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Next United Kingdom general election
Hello,
Just wondering why you removed the other three leaders from the Next United Kingdom general election page? It seems strange to have Sinn Fein and the DUP but not Plaid Cymru, UKIP and the Greens. Sinn Fein do not even take their seats so they have very little influence over Westminster politics.
Thanks - goesbyanyothername
Thank you for your concerns on the above page. The issue you have failed to realise, is the article has not been copyedited by a native English speaker. The article is full of syntax, grammar, and readability issues. The use of "an" before consonants such as "an Spanish" the use of the letter "s" incorrectly "high ranks". It should be "Spanish" without the definite article, it should also be "high ranking" with the continuous suffix not a plural or possesive. I appreciate you feel context was lost, but the edits are from a native English speaker of an article which is clearly a translation of another article, presumably from Spanish Wikipedia. If you feel context was lost, please re-add the context. I hope you can realise the problems with the article are grammar, syntax, and readability. 94.197.121.115 (talk) 14:06, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Catalan self-determination referendum, 2014: Non-binding (but nevertheless legal), or null and void (and illegal)?
I am sorry that Wikipedia has messed up with my explanation...I think, a "non-binding (consultative) referendum" in the English language and in the English-speaking World generally means a referendum held or conducted with lawful basis and authority (but the results of the said referendum would NOT automatically authorize the Government, or the executive branch of the government, the power or the authority to directly or in effect (indirect) change some law or laws made by Parliament, Congress or the legislature) (see the Scottish example in the example of the United Kingdom [7]); whereas an "unofficial referendum" generally or usually refers to an illegal referendum conducted without lawful basis or authority, and its results is legally-speaking null and void...possibly a case of lost in translation (the different meaning of terms (including and perhaps especially political terms) in different languages), methinks! Thank you, or Gracias! -- 87.102.116.36 (talk) 01:33, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello Impru, We had a very hard debate at Talk:Catalan_independence_referendum,_2017#Level of detail on the lead and it seems like we might be finally reaching an agreement (pending Iñaki's response). The referendum and the law of the referendum are separate both suspended by the Constitutional Court and the law also annulled. if we add aditional information to the lead about the law we would also have to include that it was suspended and annulled and that it failed to meet the 2/3 majority required by the "Estatuto de Autonomía de Cataluña". That would be too much for a lead that we want to shorten. In this version it is explained with a lot more detail, but we agreed to shorten it. The referendum itself was organized by the Generalitat and the law however was approved by the Parliament. I hope this version can be acceptable to you so we can finally put the debate to rest. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:51, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

I'm really sorry ...
... how badly I focused the discussion. I really appreciate the work you are doing because you are giving the necessary neutrality to the pages. I would like to leave this aside because I think there were many misunderstandings between us. The written language is not easy, many important nuances are lost and besides I am not native speaker of English, which complicates my communication. Also, most of the time I tried to edit the talk page there was an editing conflict. I think I should have waited to your answers and to dialogue with you...
I have already seen this edit, is a very positive step. Thank you very much!
I do not edit in these subjects but I started in this one for the reasons that I explained here. This is very worrying, a small sample of what is happening.
I hope we can continue to collaborate positively.

It is said the Constitutional Court may suspend the declaration within days, so I think we could consider such a suspension as the official end of the Republic. - Do not anticipate events. When sources unambiguously proclaim independence as over, we shall report on it. The political situation in Catalonia right now is somewhat chaotic, yet the cover of weekend (with the public administration closed) prevents us from seeing the full extent of the so-called "legality-clash". Catalunya has still not surrender the idea of being self-Independent. Because of this it is still a proclaim state. Just because it has been taken over by Spain doesn't mean it isn't still proclaimed Yessy1205 (talk) 22:18, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
Catalan Republic
Hi We should create a map with light green because the republic controlled any territory, only claimed it. --Panam2014 (talk) 23:03, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Catalan republic
Hi According to the former president of Catalan Parliament, the republic has never been proclamed, but it was only a symbolic resolution and a proposal. We should merge the article with Declaration of Independence of Catalonia. --Panam2014 (talk) 20:38, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
Secondary sources
Hi A young contributor does not know that primary sources (WP: PRIMARY) are not eligible to know which person holds a political office. The only admissible sources are secondary sources (WP: SECONDARY) whose purpose is to report facts. Could you give him a reminder?--Panam2014 (talk) 18:54, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

Just saw your overhaul of Opinion polling for the next Greek legislative election – great work as usual, and thanks for all the work you've put into articles on Spanish elections, polling, and politics both past and present. Mélencron (talk) 16:34, 15 December 2017 (UTC) |
People's Party
I'm here to discuss why you think the party should be labelled primarily as liberal conservative. There are far more citations to support the party being conservative. Also it is common knowledge from browsing political party pages that the party's primary ideology is placed first on its ideology list. Also the party is labelled as conservative in the introduction on its page, not liberal conservative. While liberal conservatism obviously shares elements of conservatism these are two different ideologies. If you were to do any sort of polling on whether people view the party as conservative or liberal conservative I guarantee many more will see it as simply conservative (both academically and in terms of the Spanish general public), and as mentioned there are many more citations provided on the party's page to support that it is conservative than liberal conservative. Immediate revert
Hi Impru20, please don't immediately revert small changes like the one I first applied. I guarantee you the table did not look straight on all platforms ;) Abjiklam (talk) 14:03, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
