Edit summary

I'm well aware of how frustrating vandals can be, but please don't attack them like you did here. It won't lead to anything good. Snuggums (talk / edits) 15:49, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

There's a limit to their idiocy, sorry not sorry this time. —IB [ Poke ] 16:51, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

RE: Carbrera

I have to say I disagree with you. I don't know if you followed the thread at Million Reasons, but he is showing a complete lack of understanding for how the notability system works. Saying that A-Yo is notable is completely indefensible and there is no support from the NSONGS criteria to back it up (as I demonstrated with a checklist on Million Reasons, which he still disputed despite the red crosses). Why he is so insistent on it being in mainspace and can't wait a few days for it chart in order to help his standing with regard to notability, when as shown with Million Reasons, won't even edit it for improvement afterwards anyway is beyond me. It's bordering on fancruft.  — Calvin999 11:25, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

@Calvin999: a lack of understanding of WP:NSONGS does not make it disruptive, rather extend the meaningful explanation to him. And I have to give you previous example. I had a same problem with Another Believer, however he has also understood now. Maybe since you have clashed with Carbrera, maybe I should reach out to him. —IB [ Poke ] 11:28, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
I've tried that many, many times, as you can see on Million Reasons, but there is a point blanc refusal from him to listen. It does not excuse a clear and blatant disregard for rules and a system that we are all supposed to adhere by.  — Calvin999 15:48, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Small question

I have a small question and ask you because you seem to know what you do: what did I do wrong here? Why didn't it work? For Belgium it works fine this way. Sorry for possibly behaving dumb, I'm not used to such templates. --Ali1610 (talk) 17:24, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Did you overlook my question? ;) --Ali1610 (talk) 16:43, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Rebel Heart Book

Can we use this one for the Rebel Heart Book? It's beautiful and looks a lot like this iconic shot; if it's OK with you, we could leave the red background. Also what do you mean by the image of the g.H.V.2 logo being copyright vio :S?--Chrishm21 (talk) 20:49, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

No I'm sure we can find more suitable image and please keep in mind iconic is an WP:OR here. The reason why the image is used in the book is not because of I like it or anything, its because the image from the first section was widely used in all the receptions for the tour, and the overall hue and tone from the first section is reddish. As for the GHV2 image, please check it again as I have nominated it for copyright violation and it should be self-explanatory. —IB [ Poke ] 20:53, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
I see what you mean. The logo wasn't created by the uploader hence it's a vio. Right? Also, how bout we keep this one then? It's also taken from the opening song :D --Chrishm21 (talk) 20:57, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
Can you upload a close up of it? The idea here is to display Madonna closely and the red hue. —IB [ Poke ] 21:01, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
How about this one then? the red tones look beautiful on that one.--Chrishm21 (talk) 21:05, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Are you following me? :P --Jennica Talk 12:04, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

I have articles on watchlist. —IB [ Poke ] 12:12, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

"A-Yo"

I can add a relevant tag if I want, IndianBio. I'm not in favour of the article being in mainspace, yet several are who are ignoring NSONGS. The article is unfocused, it has next to no info in it. If it is to stay in mainspace, someone needs to add some info quickly, else I'll AFD it.  — Calvin999 10:12, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

And I have challenged your addition, so go ahead and AFD it. End of story. —IB [ Poke ] 10:14, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
You haven't really challenged, it you just reverted it without a reason for doing so. You can't defend it being a focused article, surely.  — Calvin999 10:15, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Your appropriation is also not justified Calvin999 that it lacks focus, as I'm sure you are confusing the lack of material with being in focus. And in this case, a lack of material is not a reason for it being AFD'd, but by all means go ahead with AFD. Its not as if the article talks about "Joanne" the song in "A-Yo" or goes into describing Gaga's performance in detail. —IB [ Poke ] 10:18, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
PS I also apologize if I sounded rude to you Calvin, this new user Jennica is getting on my nerves with the continuous wrong edits. —IB [ Poke ] 10:20, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict) If there is a lack of material, in this case a serious lack, then yes that is a lack of focus. The lack of material and detail is 100% the reason for AfD. I'm sure there is material out there, but unless it's added then the article hasn't established enough notability to warrant being in mainspace. Yes, it has charted, but that is needed in conjunction with a decent amount of third party content in order to establish the notability, not just having charted and that's it. I respect you but I'm surprised in the tone that you've adopted.  — Calvin999 10:29, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
No, I absolutely disagree. Lack of material in the article does not mean a lack of focus. There is umpteen third party source for the article and the mere existence of it is notability enough. Again, no point in discussing in my talk page since we will have to agree to disagree here. You are free to go ahead with WP:AFD. Lets get the steam rolling why don't we? —IB [ Poke ] 10:34, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
I don't mind working with you on it.  — Calvin999 10:44, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
I don't mind either, but just finishing the Joanne article, then copy edit it and then I can start on it. So if you can wait for two days? —IB [ Poke ] 10:47, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Yep.  — Calvin999 10:52, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Your revert on Joanne (disambiguation)

I don't see why you reverted my edit on that page, because, the way I see, what I did there was putting the song under the album it's from, in a way that it looks neater and more organized, so if you could explain your reasons 177.65.159.230 (talk) 02:02, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

inquiry

Hi. Sorry for yesterday. I'm just wondering if you know of any tools on how to fix the references on this page quickly: Otherworld_(album)#References -- I came across a user who's been on here since 2009 and is mucking up articles with this "style" of referencing. He has several more which is scary so I'm just wondering if you know of a fast way of doing it. --Jennica Talk 11:09, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Jennica: you can use the Reflinks tool which is self-explanatory to format references. —IB [ Poke ] 11:30, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Hugely delayed GA reviews

IndianBio, when you start a GA review, you are also making a commitment to complete it in a reasonable period of time. The longer that time goes, the more frustrating it becomes, especially when you don't respond at all.

Right now you have two reviews open and incomplete: Talk:The Marble Index (album)/GA1, which you opened on August 12 and is now the second oldest incomplete GA review at 71 days, and Talk:Heaven (Inna song)/GA1, which you opened on September 1, and which has been waiting for a reply from you (on whether you will be pursuing the review) since October 2, three weeks ago.

This is not fair to the nominators. I see you are pursuing work on other articles; these reviews should have your priority. If you can't or don't want to prioritize them, please reconsider whether you should be doing the reviews. I am happy to put them back into the pool for reviewing with no loss of seniority; since they are the oldest nominations in their respective categories, I imagine they will be picked up for reviewing in short order.

In future, I'd like to suggest that you not open more than a single review at any one time, and then only when you know you can complete the review within the standard week. Thank you for your consideration, and your immediate attention to these reviews. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:55, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

IndianBio, I checked with nominator Cartoon Network Freak on Talk:Heaven (Inna song)/GA1, and per his or her request I have archived the review you started and put the nomination back in the pool of articles needing reviews. I have little doubt that it will find a new reviewer in fairly short order; if nothing else, the GA Cup starts early next week. I do hope that you will concentrate on Talk:The Marble Index (album)/GA1 in the next few days, given your many past promises to return to it soon. Please be aware that if you have not resumed the review by November 1, I will ask the nominator if they would prefer trying to find a more responsive reviewer.
I have always had the impression that you are a good reviewer when you devote the time to a review; the problem is that you open reviews and then take weeks to actually start such a review, which is unfair to the nominator. I hope you're better able to plan your time in future. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:40, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Chime in on this RfC?

Hi. Would you be willing to weigh in on this RfC regarding Metacritic should be both added in the prose section and the album ratings template at the same time. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 19:03, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

archive.is

Hi! I saw that you removed archive.is sources from articles such as 21, claiming it is unreliable. However, the source was removed from the blacklist, so I thing there's nothing bad in using it. Archive.is is not the source, it is the archiving system. In that case, the real source is RMNZ. As far as I can see, we should use it carefully and, if possible, we sould use different archiving systems, but i don't think we should remove it from articles. Anyway, on 21, I restored the information, replacing the url with an archived version of the same page stored at archive.org/web, which should be safe. --Stee888 (talk) 21:12, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for notifying about the RFC, was not aware of it and true it should be used sparingly. —IB [ Poke ] 09:50, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Finnish charts

May I ask how you knew the Finnish charts updated at this time? I just went to add the Finnish peak, which I thought nobody else had an interest in or even really knew of its time of updating, and you had added it. Ss112 12:26, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Surprisingly was just checking the Finnish website for Gaga's certifications @Ss112: and within the charts saw Joanne. —IB [ Poke ] 12:27, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, I just assumed maybe you'd looked at my contributions soon after I updated the chart's number ones list and done it first. Not accusing or not to sound paranoid, but just asking because I had a Celine Dion fan stalk my edits a month or two ago when she released her new album so that when he saw me update a chart's positions on Wikipedia, he could add the new peak there before I could. Ss112 12:36, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
@Ss112: ugh thats super creepy! —IB [ Poke ] 12:37, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

First FA

Just noticed this. Major congrats on getting your first FA! I know that FrB.TG did much of the work and he certainly deserves credit, but (at least for now) seems to have left Wikipedia. Pinging him here just in case he comes back, though already left goodbye notice with a barnstar for all of his contributions, including Ms. Swift. I must say I'm impressed with how much you both improved it in such a relatively short time. It was a nightmare to read when I delisted that as GA a year ago. You should feel very accomplished. Snuggums (talk / edits) 00:38, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

@SNUGGUMS: would you believe if I say I was inspired by your edits for Katy's article while going through Taylor's? I think after the Joanne era cools down we have to tackle Gaga now. —IB [ Poke ] 06:15, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
I can definitely see how, and am honored that you were :). Gaga is in fair shape but definitely needs work to be FA material. It'll take probably several months before she stabilizes after Joanne and perhaps AHS, but I do look forward to getting her up to snuff. Snuggums (talk / edits) 14:05, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
Thank you, SNUGGUMS. Perry's article did influence the writing a bit so did my previous FAs. I think you guys can work on it later -if I'm not wrong you started a PR a few months ago whatever happened to that – FrB.TG (talk) 15:46, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
There was a PR set up back in March, but it never got much attention and eventually just closed on its own. Snuggums (talk / edits) 18:18, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi again. Would you be willing to weigh in this RfC regarding AnyDecentMusic? should be added in the album ratings template like Metacritic, because the website is another review aggregator. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 00:22, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

MDNA

Hi, IB. I always try to be neutral and show the RS in Wikipedia's articles, but one question about your revert. ASINCOL actually has a defunctional link as official website. But, MDNA achieved a 2x platinum status and was officially confirmed in a press conference by Los 40 Principales. A major music media in Latin American, like MTV or Rolling Stone in the U.S. Just a comment because in albums that were already achieved a gold/platinum status is never used the ASINCOL link, even in Colombian artists like Shakira. Chrishonduras (talk) 19:08, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Los 40 Principales and their methods have been questioned already and was deleted as a non-notable agency as per this old AFD discussion. Maybe thats the reason why they are never used in articles. —IB [ Poke ] 05:51, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
I see. Although the AFD was just for a comment and the point of view from the nominator. Basically It was considered as a non-notable agency for their "record charts" that are very unnecesary as we can also say for any "Top video charts" by MTV for example. If is one of the reasons, is not enough for consider as a poor reference if is use in other ways of information because they have some authority in music industry around the region (even with awards shows). Course, is just my IMHO and possible exists other discussions over the source. However, I'm not very interested at the moment about re-open a discussion or something like that about this topic. But after all thanks for the explanation. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 08:46, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Album ratings template in film articles

Hi IndianBio, hope you're well. I'm curious about this edit. You assert that only 10 reviews belong in the box, but I'm curious if you know where can I find the conversation that led to consensus deciding that film articles can use album ratings templates in the critical response section? To be honest, I'm skeptical that any such discussion ever occurred, otherwise we'd have a unique box for film articles and wouldn't have to use the album one. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:12, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Cyphoidbomb:, before removing the table altogether I had thought the same too, and so instead of removing just removed the two extra reviews. Later I searched for any RFC/discussion and could not find anything at all. When I went to remove it from the MS Dhoni article you had already done the needful. :) Hope that helps. —IB [ Poke ] 16:15, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Sorry

I didn't want to seem hostile, it just seemed like he/she was abusing his/her power, whenever "Joanne" is notable. Aleccat (talk) 08:36, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

No Aleccat, I know Calvin for a long time and he was not doing anything like that. He has valid concerns and I also think prematurely created articles are a hindrance. —IB [ Poke ] 10:14, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

At this point, I can no longer persuade you to reconsider the images. Maybe I'll stay away from articles about Madonna songs until you reconsider the images by your own will. What do you say? --George Ho (talk) 18:21, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I've seen your recent contributions in Lady Gaga's article and this is where I found you. I am currently working on THIS article and was wandering if you could help me in terms of the language accuracy, grammar, punctuation etc, as I am not native English speaker and therefore am aware that I could potentially have made some mistakes. Although the errors might not be major it is really important for me that it is as close to perfection as it could be. If you're only have time and could have a look and make changes to where it is required I'd be grateful. ArturSik (talk) 07:07, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Community reassessment help

Passion (Utada Hikaru song), an article that you or your project may be interested in, has been nominated for a community good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article.

Hi @IndianBio: I'm not sure if this is what I'm supposed to do with community reassessment messages (it said I have to send a small message to user talk pages for help?), but knowing that you've dealt with music articles in the past, I would like your assistance if that is okay. I have submitted this page above for a community-based reassessment and I am wanting your help with anything. For more info, visit the page above. Paradise (White Lung album)

Hey IndianBio, I know it might not be a band you've even heard of, but can you help me keep an eye on Paradise (White Lung album)? Some user who created the page looks to be intent on keeping the references to the references section, despite this being a limited practice on Wikipedia and even though subsequent additions to the page by other editors have disregarded this. With their last edit, they also undid all helpful formatting changes, which I commented took the page backwards. Just wondering if you can help out since you're an editor who from my experience prefers references in the body of an article and not all confined to one section everybody has to go down to if they want to change/edit/add one. Thanks! Ss112 02:27, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Never mind, I've changed it back as I remembered the existence of WP:CITEVAR. It's still a laborious way of defining refs on Wiki. Glad most articles don't use it. Ss112 03:46, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Help with creating an article

Hello lndianBio how are you? I was wondering, if you aren't too busy, if you could help me with the creation of this article. I noticed that some time ago back in 2007-2008, an article was created and eventually deleted for lack of relevance. Do you think it's worth creating?? And if so, could you give it a check and see if it's ready?

Gypsy (Lady Gaga song)

Hello:

The copy edit requested by Another Believer from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article "Gypsy (Lady Gaga song" has been completed.

You will notice that I archived one of the article’s citations (#1). I suggest that you archive the rest of the article’s URLs as time allows. This ensures that the article's references are available "forever" and that it doesn’t develop 'dead links' over time. The site I use is https://archive.org/web/. Simply copy the URL in the citation and paste it in the 'Save Page Now' box on the archive.org site and click "Save". This creates a copy of the original page and provides you with a new URL to add to the original citation. If you look at the URL I've archived you'll see the syntax. You add the new URL to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl=http etc|archivedate=December 12, 2016}}. Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.

I have no idea how to go about this, but many of the song articles I have edited include a brief clip from the song in question. It might be worth looking into how to do this?

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,
