New mailing list
There has been a mailing list created for Wikipedians in the New York metropolitan area (list: Wikimedia NYC). Please consider joining it! Cbrown1023 talk 21:10, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks InvertZoo. Have now seen the error of my ways & fixed it by redirect. Hope it's right now. Cheers GrahamBould (talk) 08:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- re copyright, yes I was lazy with the Distribution for Doto pita, now fixed.GrahamBould (talk) 07:55, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Why don't you just use the Wikipedia procedure for moving articles? If the name is the only thing you want to change, that's the way to go, not copy-pasting from article to article. Cbdorsett (talk) 14:25, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind - now I see what you're doing. Looks like a good idea. Cbdorsett (talk) 14:27, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Back to tidepools
Hi, Invertzoo. Thank you for correcting my mistake with sea grass. Today I've been to tide pools once again and took this image (please take a look at other versions). I added the image to 2 articles hermit crab and Gumboot chiton, but, if you feel the image should not be there, please feel absolutely free to remove it. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 22:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi MIla, glad your leg is OK again. It looks as if the hermit crabs were picking away at a dead gumboot chiton? If that is correct I will explain that in the captions. It's a great shot by the way! Really cool. Invertzoo (talk) 23:03, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. There were some snails and I took better images of them. I will upload one later.
I believe the chiton was either dead or dying.--Mbz1 (talk) 23:16, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Here's the better image of the snails . I used to have the images of live giant chiton, but it was long before Wikipedia, so I've never kept them. Sorry about this.Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 00:04, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Invertzoo, I forgot to tell you that I took this image at Big Island of Hawaii. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 22:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC) Oh, a fabulous Seahare! Nice. I don't know which species it is though. if I can find out I will add that to the caption. Invertzoo (talk) 23:09, 28 February 2008 (UTC) Oh! I see it is already identified as Dolabella auricularia. I will add that to the caption.Invertzoo (talk) 23:20, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 00:05, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Small chiton from today and Tegula shells
Hi, Invertzoo,
Here's a chiton image I took today . Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 00:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. I will see if I can work out which species that chiton is; I think I might know. By the way, I took two different "hermit crabs on gumboot chiton" pictures and put one in the Tegula (genus) article and one in the Tegula funebralis article. Very helpful and useful! Invertzoo (talk) 00:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
I believe this chiton is Mopalia mucosa. Invertzoo (talk) 15:56, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
an image for you
Hi,Invertzoo , Here's one more image for you . Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 16:42, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
One more image
Thank you for all the great work you are doing! Here's one more image:I believe it is a chiton, but it is so well comouflaged that it is hard to say. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 01:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thanks, I think this is another Mopalia mucosa, a smaller one. It is very common for them to be completely overgrown with algae like this. Invertzoo (talk) 01:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 18:10, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
You are invited!
New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, and have salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).
Well also make preparations for our exciting Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, a free content photography contest for Columbia University students planned for Friday March 28 (about 2 weeks after our meeting).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
You're also invited to subscribe to the public Wikimedia New York City mailing list, which is a great way to receive timely updates.
This has been an automated delivery because you were on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 02:56, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
