I just want to thank you for reverting the edits of IP 170.231.85.80. I do understand how tiring it is. Camillz (talk) 21:26, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re this edit, I don't see any discussion about the asserted play on words there. Am I missing something that should be obvious? Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 01:07, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are missing something that should be obvious.
“The phrase on this Weibo meme is a play on a Chinese idiom meaning to "leave none behind".
In this case, the phrase reads "Not even a bit can be left behind". The word for "bit" in Chinese is also the same word as "dash", a reference to the infamous nine-dash line which China says defines its historic claims in the region. The tribunal disagreed with that assertion.” JArthur1984 (talk) 01:20, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am being too abrupt, sorry. Yes - use ctrl+f in the web article on some aspect of the quotation above. JArthur1984 (talk) 01:43, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No worries re abruptness. ctrl-f doesn't do anything for me; that may be due to platform differences. Anyhow, I still find this difficult to follow. and I suspect that some others will as well. Perhaps a change in the article text to read something like, " ... Simplified Chinese uses 中国 for both bit and dash" (with corrections there to fix problems that may be obvious to you) would be clearer. (note:I'm not familiar with either the Chinese language or with {{zh}}) Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 04:01, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:RS for Trade War

[edit]

Thank you for pointing out that the press release was not the best source for the trade war article. I appreciate you leaving the note, so I understand why you deleted the reference. I took your suggestion and just added a CNN citation.

DavidRJD (talk) 23:58, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Great approach, and I think it's a good addition. Also, welcome to Wikipedia! JArthur1984 (talk) 02:08, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Killing of Bian Zhongyun >Cultural Revolution

[edit]

You reverted a short section that I wrote about the killing of the teacher Bian Zhongyun during the Cultural Revolution. I'm not here to dispute that, and it is rather understandable as to why you reverted the specific section in question, and I only didn't source it because I couldn't find an adequate one, however, it wasn't exactly original research, as there is a page about Song Binbin, from whom I could find a source, or acquire a separate one now, and I'm asking that if I were to get a separate source, and cite it for the text in which I wrote previously, do you think it would be suitable to repost it? Kingofmapps (talk) 13:10, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page jaguar) Work in this area is very much appreciated—you're always welcome to ask on the talk page or be bold if you feel you've found more solid sourcing. Remsense ‥  13:13, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kingofmapps yes, and agreed with @Remsense. It's a fine proposition to include, but needs sourcing in the article in which you add it. I recall the proposition included an assertion similar to 'Most well-known example in Western media is...' That part especially would need a source saying 'the killing of Bian Zhongyun was is the most well-known example in western media...' My focus was on OR and SYNTH most specifically because of that assertion. JArthur1984 (talk) 14:08, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that makes sense, I suppose. I'll repost with those added adjustments. Kingofmapps (talk) 14:17, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
