Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, JacobLSorrells. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Campaign for America's Future, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Marquardtika (talk) 15:48, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the e-mail. As there are no privacy concerns that I can see, I'd prefer to discuss things here. Before we go any further, have you read the conflict of interest guidelines and the "Paid contributions without disclosure" section of the Wikimedia Terms of Use? I see you've made a request on Talk:Campaign for America's Future, but still haven't said exactly what your conflict of interest is. In particular, you haven't said, one way or another, if you have made any edits for pay. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 17:59, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My sincere apologies for the long delay here - I see you sent this message several months ago. Thank you for directing me to these resources. To clarify, I was paid by Campaign for America's Future on behalf of Roger Hickey, and have now disclosed my paid-contribution atop Talk:Roger Hickey. Relatedly, I have refined my initial edits on the Roger Hickey page to ensure a neutral point of view, which I believe the article maintains. But if you disagree, I would appreciate any suggestions or contributions to further clean up the article, to be sure that it complies with Wikipedia's content policies. Thank you!
