Thanks for your note. I was just curious about whether you had found anything special. You are correct that is a pretty basic thing. If you are looking for suggestions, one approach is to examine the first or second collected volumes of organic synthesis to see if there are articles on the compounds described there. That series began in the 1920's and focused on useful compounds. Access to this book series is free. See http://www.orgsyn.org. Just click the button "Access Organic Syntheses via keyword searching", then proceed to the search page. You can select Collected volume 1 and then find compounds that interest you.
