Ugochukwu Aronu moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ugochukwu Aronu, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Information icon Hello, I'm Celestina007. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Draft:Ugochukwu Aronu have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Celestina007 (talk) 15:48, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks, I just checked, and i think i understand what you did, can i keep editing? I'd request moving to mainspace when I feel there are enough information and references available. Or what do you think? Jefak007 --Jefak007 (talk) 16:10, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You didn’t ping me like I asked you to, if I didn’t check back I won’t have seen this message. To answer your question, you can edit as you deem fit but in the absence of reliable sources which I saw none when removing all the promotional material in the article I failed to see any. But like I said you are welcome to keep editing as you deem fit. You do not need my permission, although passing the article through WP:AFC is the most ideal manner seeing as the issue of a possible COI is still the crux of this conversation, however if you want to you can manually move to mainspace but it is my candid opinion that it would most likely end up in AFD. Hello Jefak007. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jefak007. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jefak007|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 13:22, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot Hi, There is infact no COI or payment, I look forward to being an administrator some day, I also deem it nice to contribute to the community, I always have, but in lesser ways, I've been running researches online since 2011, and I feel it right to use some of these skills to talk about a few persons in my country... I am also looking at adding information for some popular influencers, just haven't found the right categories. I am not a paid advocate, I do this at leisure and off information based on the internet. this particular topic was because i heard of a certain crypto guy whose company had the biggest hackaton in africa, I took over a month to gather these information. I also look forward to doing the same with other people doing great things. I hope you understand me --Jefak007 (talk) 13:48, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Potential COI

[edit]

I left a COI tag on your article Draft:Ugochukwu Aronu this was its original state here which was borderline G11 material. I have carried out my duty as a caretaker and anti spam editor and have removed to the letter any shred of promotional material there. My question is why are you creating a non notable promotional article and using unreliable pieces to substantiate notability claims? If it does apply, in what capacity are you acquainted with the subject of the article. Please ping me when responding to this questions. Celestina007 (talk) 15:54, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has enacted a more stringent set of rules. Any administrator may impose sanctions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

I have reason to believe- that I cannot reveal publicly, but will to another administrator upon request- that you are not being honest with us; as such, I have blocked your account. 331dot (talk) 13:51, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot I never knew that was a rule, if you check publishing about me online, i doubt you'll even find any recent, but then, i've had this account for a decade, i just edit as i see, once a while, first time i'm trying to go all in, i receive slams from everywhere,i wonder how people will learn this way. Goodluck sir or madame, enjoy your christmas. --Jefak007 (talk) 10:33, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
People learn by reviewing the relevant policies, abiding by them when pointed out to them, and being honest, none of which you have done here. If you no longer wish to participate here, that's your decision. Merry Christmas. 331dot (talk) 10:39, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot Apart from COI being forced down my throat, what else was I told and I didn't accept or try to explain? COI was called, I was asked to state it was or not, I reiterated that i was not paid, yet i was blocked, quite amusing, I see nothing different from the police trying to force a crime on a suspect without a single shred of proof, just assumptions, because I am from where I am from, then I must have been paid to right? Enjoy your Christmas, I am off to write on my blog, one that actually pays a fortune. --Jefak007 (talk) 10:57, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I(and others) am not allowed by policy to give proof. 331dot (talk) 11:01, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot Yeah, as defined, autocracy, force suggestions or ideologies on people, ideas that are in no ways exact but just possible inferences based on information they almost never had, and then make the near-faux information seem like it is final, and came from God? Like I said, enjoy your Christmas... Ya'll are allowed to keep feeling like gods. --Jefak007 (talk) 07:35, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
All you need to do if you want to be unblocked is be honest with us as described below. I can say it has nothing to do with where you are from. But, I'll leave you alone now, merry Christmas. 331dot (talk) 08:23, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot Why is there so much stress on telling that lie? I have not received a dime, i do not know the person personally, so amazing yo! Merry Christmas... --Jefak007 (talk) 08:53, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are free to make an unblock request and attempt to convince another administrator to unblock you, but you will need to address why we might think that you are paid if you are not. I can't say any more than that. It might help if you agreed to not edit about people and tell us what you will edit about instead, but there is no guarantee. The choice is yours. Okay, I will really leave you alone now. 331dot (talk) 09:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am still getting around wikipedia, i wouldnt go against the rules intentionally, I am also finding a way to talk about people without sounding like promotion, please understand this Jefak007 (talk) 13:57, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You've certainly not been completely honest with us and have definitely violated WP:COI. Given that, I'm not willing to lift the block. Probably, you should engage in your promotional activities on another platform and leave Wikipedia alone. If you wish to write about subject areas for which you have no conflict of interest, your best option is to fully disclose your conflicts of interest and tell us what you plan to write about instead. Yamla (talk) 10:06, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Yamla Unless i was expected to tell a lie, I said my goal, and was virtually done writing the article and moving to the next one, but if you say you know what i plan to do, more than myself, then who am i to argue about it. I wish you goodluck. --Jefak007 (talk) 10:33, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly did not enjoy this, you knew what I was saying but intentionally acted as though you didn’t, thus making me use up time to explain and re-explain multiple times to you something you already knew. You made me use up time I would have used in doing actual productive work in explaining something you were already acquainted with. This isn’t fair at all to me and the collaborative project. After doing some off wiki research(which I honestly should have done rather than waste my time) An indef is definitely the right call. Celestina007 (talk) 15:25, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
