Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Jesterschilderwrites, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Jean missinhoun, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.
Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.
New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at the our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page or you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! The article Jean missinhoun has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Seagull123 Φ 18:35, 20 August 2020 (UTC)
Disclose your employment on your user page
[edit]Hello Jesterschilderwrites. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jesterschilderwrites. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jesterschilderwrites|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Ian.thomson (talk) 11:28, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
Can I have your email address? I'm having a hard time navigating the platform, including knowing if this is the way to reply on your message.
- I cannot imagine anything you might email me that you could not simply post here.
- To be clear, you must go to User:Jesterschilderwrites and post (as you see on your talk page right)
{{paid|user=Jesterschilderwrites|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
- Copy that line of text in the grey box, paste it at User:Jesterschilderwrites, and click the "publish page" button. If you do not properly disclose your already apparent conflict of interest, we will have to block you for violating our terms of use. Ian.thomson (talk) 11:56, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
How to write articles that won't be rejected or deleted
[edit]If you're going to write an article about anyone or anything that is not you or something you are connected to, here are the steps you should follow:
- 1) Choose a topic whose notability is attested by discussions of it in several reliable independent sources.
- 2) Gather as many professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources you can find. Google Books is a good resource for this. Also, while search engine results are not sources, they are where you can find sources. Just remember that they need to be professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources.
- 3) Focus on just the ones that are not dependent upon or affiliated with the subject, but still specifically about the subject and providing in-depth coverage (not passing mentions). If you do not have at least three such sources, the subject is not yet notable and trying to write an article at this point will only fail.
- 4) Summarize those sources left after step 3, adding citations at the end of them. You'll want to do this in a program with little/no formatting, like Microsoft Notepad or Notepad++, and not in something like Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer. Make sure this summary is just bare statement of facts, phrased in a way that even someone who hates the subject can agree with.
- 5) Combine overlapping summaries where possible (without arriving at new statements that no individual source supports), repeating citations as needed.
- 6) Paraphrase the whole thing just to be extra sure you've avoided any copyright violations or plagiarism.
- 7) Use the Article wizard to post this draft and wait for approval.
- 8) Expand the article using sources you put aside in step 3 (but make sure they don't make up more than half the sources for the article, and make sure that affiliated sources don't make up more than half of that).
Doing something besides those steps typically results in the article not being approved, or even in its deletion.
If you are writing about yourself, or someone or something you are connected with (such as a friend, family member, or your business), the following steps are different:
- 0) If the subject really was notable, you wouldn't need to write the article. Remember that articles are owned by the Wikipedia community as a whole, not the article subject or the article author. If you do not want other people to write about you, then starting an article about yourself is a bad idea.
- 8a) If the article is accepted, never edit it again. Instead, make edit requests on the article's talk page.
- 8b) If the article is rejected, there will be a reason given. Read it carefully and closely. If there are links in the reason, open them and read those pages.

Speedy deletion nomination of Visium Investment Management
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Visium Investment Management, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. October 2020
[edit] As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Jesterschilderwrites, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jesterschilderwrites|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Captain Calm (talk) 11:23, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm actually not getting paid for creating the Visium Investment Management page, or any of my activities on Wikipedia. I'm doing this voluntarily, because it's an important cauze. Visium Investment Managent builds research centers across the globe to take action against climate change and create jobs. I'm part of a team of several volunteers who help.
- You wrote Through our support and collaboration, we nurture the spirit of curiosity and help to encourage exploration and innovation. We are proud to partner with and sponsor:. If you were really a volunteer, why would you write in the company's name? Anyway, I've blocked this account Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:21, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
I just used information that was already on the internet, because I do this voluntarily and I have limited time. I agree, reading it that the we-form doesn't make sense on Wikipedia and that it looks suspicious. Nevertheless not a reason to delete the full article and definitely not to block my account!! If you provide me your email address or Telegram, I can put you in contract with the volunteering team, so that you can first consult and make decisions based on what we actually do, instead of randomly making conclusions.
- There is a line of communication about this issue at OTRS (Ticket: 2020101510014231). — Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 20:41, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
