I saw your note at the help desk, and have expanded the article about this exceptional person! Planning to add a list of his publications and awards/honors.

Do you have access to some biographical details, such as date and place of birth, earlier parts of his life, etc.? If you can pass this along to me, I can add them in without need of a formal citation. (Because he is already "notable" in the WP sense). There were some sources there already, for his education, so I added that.

In order to have an article, a person must be "notable", and he has already qualified. We are allowed to fill in some of the background with less formal sources, as long as it is not anything controversial or defamatory. You could just tell me what you know, doesn't acually have to be in print, so to speak. Even a CV might provide additional info.

I managed to add a few personal comments from an interview with SFGate, which was a reference in his article, but I would really like to add more, if available.

Thanks so much for bringing this up. I would really like to help, more! Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 07:44, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tribe of Tiger: Thank you so much for your additions. Jmm1974 and I are both working on collecting information about Dr. Scott's family and early life. We have compiled a document with information about his education, honors, awards, publications, professional experience, and further information about his major contributions to science. We would like you to take a look at it before we try posting this information. We are very open to your feedback, and we are doing our best to create a comprehensive page about Dr. Scott. What is the best way to share this information with you?
As you will see in our document, there are a multitude of publications Dr. Scott has worked on. We feel that, although they are all important in their own way, it might be slightly overwhelming to the reader to list them all. We were thinking to include the popular press reports (such as those already listed), any papers we cite in the description of his work, and then a selection of his most notable papers. In your experience, do you feel this would be an effective plan?
We are so excited to have your help. Thank you so much for reaching out and we look forward to working with you on this page.

Carlatocchini, I am so pleased to hear from you! I fell asleep last night, trying to calculate Dr. Scott's age in my head and worrying. Sometimes, WP doesn't get additional bio info until the obituary and I am so glad we do not have to "wait", for a time that is, (most hopefully), far in the future!
As you note, a complete publications list would be overwhelming for an encyclopedia article, so I would really appreciate a list that outlines the "most important". I am not qualified to make this judgement, so I am pleased that you two are. Your plan is a good one, and I would be happy to review , and help with the edits.
You stated on the Teahouse page that you want to make edits "for your boss." We have a dreadful problem here at WP, with people attempting to use WP as a form of free advertising, to the point that there is a whole category of rules and discussions regarding this practice. WP:COI is just the tip of the iceberg. I am sure that you will see the unfair implications of using a "free" encyclopedia service, that is intended to be unbiased (WP:NPOV), for such a purpose. Rather like paying a medical journal to publish one's research.
However, you have a neutral friend, moi! The history edits for Dr. Scott's article make it clear that I edited on my own first and then asked Jmm1947 for info *prior* to your declaration. So, no need for any concern. I do, however, suggest that you allow me to "make" the edits for the two of you. Why court problems?
Please post additional info to the talk page for Dr. Scott's article. We can converse and revise in that central location. Looking forward to working with you both! Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 18:27, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tribe of Tiger: I want to format the sources properly to post them to the Dr. Alan B. Scott (ABS) talk page. What format do you suggest that we use?
Thank you for offering to do the edits. I certainly do not want to provide/post anything against wikipedia guidelines. I can see where the COI would be a problem for a WP. I would like to state, for the record, that I am not being paid to work on this. As you so eloquently stated previously, Dr. Scott is an exceptional person. That is where my motivation to make a comprehensive page for him comes from. Thank you for understanding, and providing a non-biased viewpoint on the subject matter.
I will post the current information I have to the ABS talk page, and continue working to dig up early life information to post as well. Many Thanks!

Formats, not sure what to say here. I know how to use wiki markup to get info properly posted into articles, but I am not sure what to tell you to do from your side. Could you post as plain text with urls for the references, (if any)? Then I can evaluate, and if we need to do something different for future edits, I could advise.
I sensed that this was a labor of admiration and respect! I am honored to assist. We have your declaration on record, so the formalities are observed, if needed. Looking forward to reading... Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect!

Teahouse

[edit]

@Carlatocchini:, Well, obviously, I didn't get there in time to save you from the COI info. I hope you will not think badly of us. The important point, to me, is that we will be able to expand Dr. Scott's article.

As a lay"woman", I was really only familiar with the Botox of Hollywood, etc., and was truely interested in the treatments for difficult medical conditions. That's why I wanted to include the personal quote from Dr. Scott, from SFGate, as it illustrates what is most important to him as a physician and a human being. I must check the Teahouse more often, for good people in need of assistance. Thanks, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 19:31, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Don't forget early life info. Even if it is not published, we can use it. WP must have WP:RS to qualify for notability (WP:BIO, WP:PROF), but after that, we can add undocumented info for biographies, as long as it not "likely to be challenged". This to avoid info like "Singer XYZ murdered her baby brother". Not done here! Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 19:39, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
