If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Many thanks for the welcome, Doomgaze. I hope I shall gradually acquire Wikipedia editing netiquette as I make my sporadic contributions. Kinghamnt (talk) 13:51, 30 April 2011 (UTC) My use of "its" in the Beckenham article has been changed to "it". The use of "its" is in conformity with the usage related to gerunds/verbal nouns. The verbal noun "consisting" requires the possessive case of the pronoun "it" i.e. "its". Kinghamnt (talk) 13:24, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

- You're technically correct, but "which results in its consisting" is a rather awkward wording. I've changed it to "and consists", which should be sufficiently similar in meaning. Huon (talk) 14:59, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for resolving that, Huon. ("Beckenham"). Some grammatical conventions do make clear expression difficult. "The law is an ass" has a more general application! Kinghamnt (talk) 12:12, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

I would like to remove the repeated reference in the Percy Fletcher stub but the edit function does not provide the text for deletion. Kinghamnt (talk) 16:10, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Kinghamnt, the reference is repeated as there are 2 seperate parts of the article referenced to the same place. There are options availabel to reference the same place more than once in an article but this may be more work than is required on a stub size article. If you wish to remove the reference you will need to remove the inline citation, this is the text between the <ref> </ref>. If you want to find out more about this see WP:RFB. - Also, the code that creates the footnotes is found in the article text itself, at the place where the small [1] and [2] appear; the "References" section only holds a template that will display the footnotes. Huon (talk) 16:41, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
