Welcome!

Hello, LDBot, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Again, welcome!  — May. 14, '06 [10:04] <freakofnurxture|talk>

Hi bot, I tried to remove {{Cent}} from the AfD/current boilerplate here and at its actual place, but maybe your owner picks it up elsewhere. Just don't add this spam to the AfD pages, please, they are already huge, and scrolling through unrelated "cent" links while searching a deletion debate by date is a PITA. Something like "add 'cent' only if it was modified" would be cute. -- Omniplex 21:05, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed {{cent}} again, the subpages are apparently not the "master" pages. Bot on auto-pilot? -- Omniplex 09:19, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LDBot question - deletion log page

[edit]

Purhaps this was the place to put comments about this bot. I've copied the following directly from User talk:Lightdarkness:

I'm not sure if suggestions for this bot ought to be made here or on the LDBot talk page, or if the LDBot even generates the message I'm about to refer to, but I've decided to ask here. I noticed lately that a lot of AfD nominations are ending up at the top of the list, instead of at the bottom. I know in a lot of places it says to add new nominations to the bottom, but this request is often not heeded (or seen, purhaps). One place it might be useful is the editing page for the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log. When someone opens the link to the editing page for the deletion log, one will see <!-- Add new entries below this line -->. Purhaps a more useful message would be <!-- Add new entries at the bottom of the list below this line -->, or something to that effect. Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'd suggest that the line be changed to <-- Add new entries to the bottom of this page --> Kimchi.sg 14:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strange edit to WP:AFD/current by LDBot

[edit]

Posting my message here as well as on User talk:Lightdarkness:

Your bot, LDBot, did a very strange edit to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/current recently. I've reverted it but I thought it'd be good to post you a message on it in case you didn't notice. – Elisson • T • C • 01:10, 3 December 2006 (UTC) (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I wonder if it's possible to let this bot do some menial tasks at WP:DRV, namely to create a new daily and monthly log pages? ~ trialsanderrors 19:02, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Automated message to bot owners

[edit]

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 03:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 May 1, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at [[Talk:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 May 1|its talk page]]. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Please create new AfD log

[edit]

Could you please run LDBot to create Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 March 18? The bot doesn't seem to be running currently. Thanks. --Eastmain (talk) 00:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 April 8, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 April 8|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. SyBerWoLff 15:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion regarding AfD log page formatting

[edit]

It's been suggested here that the date-based navigational stuff be put at both the top and bottom of the AfD log pages. It's a good idea, so I thought I'd let you know. Cheers. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs) 23:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Has LDBot forgotten to create a new current events page at Portal:Current events/2008 September 14? Usually it happens at 4:00 UTC the previous day, but apparently it didn't happen. I created the page, btw. SpencerT♦C 00:15, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Broken

[edit]

AfD subpage creation

[edit]

Hi. I see the bot has not made any edit in the past 3 days. Thanks. Tizio 12:48, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I could instruct my bot the create the daily afd subpages, if you happen to be too busy to fix your bot. Just le me know. Tizio 15:56, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
