Running Crew
[edit]Thanks for fixing that! It was a stupid mistake because I forgot to check to make sure it didn't point to the disambiguation page..... Doh! Charlie Richmond 20:20, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing! Actually, Sound board used to point to Mixing console but I just changed it (because of the other meanings of that phrase), so I felt like I should change all the links that pointed there. --Lph 20:32, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
hip hop dancing
[edit]Regarding the edits made by my bot, i figured "hip hop dancers" would be dancing to hip hop music. After later edits I realized hip hop dance existed as a redirect to hip hop culture, so I've linked it as hip hop dancers which would be the best target, both now, and if/when that redirect becomes an actual article. Sound good? The reason I'm even doing this is because there were about 1,000 links redirecting from "hip hop" to hip hop culture, when most of them specifically pertained to music. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 21:20, Jan. 20, 2006
- Hip hop dance is perfect -- sorry for not checking for that possibility. Also sorry if I insulted your bot -- I looked at a few of its other edits and they are certainly the right thing to do. One question (I'm relatively new here): Some of the edits made by the bot were in comments written by various users on Talk pages. What is the policy/etiquette on those types of edits? --Lph 21:43, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
I gave this some thought before starting. Basically I look at the context:
- If they are making a comment like "This band isn't really heavy metal, so I removed the the category. ~~~~" it's clear that they mean to say heavy metal, so I fix it. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 23:42, Jan. 20, 2006
- If it's obvious that they are referring to a page that has been moved more recently than they made the comment, I fix it.
- If it's clear that they are intentionally referring to the disambiguation page, I leave it alone.
- If they are discussing the details of a past, present, or future page move, I leave it alone.
- If I can't figure out what they meant, I leave it alone.
I figure this is harmless and it reduces the clutter when somebody (without a bot, btw) wants to quickly spot-check "Whatlinkshere" to see if ambiguous links have been added to any real articles. Seem fair enough? — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 23:42, Jan. 20, 2006
- Fair enough! :) --Lph 14:57, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your very informative answer to this question! --Lph 14:47, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, port arms and get ready to attack -- or maybe just drill! Halcatalyst 23:00, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

My Jenny page
[edit]Hey Lph,
Thanks for adding my Jenny/867-5309 page to the 555 telephone number article. It's cool to be a citation in an encyclopedia. :D --Darkdan 06:06, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's cool to hear from you, Darkdan. I've always liked that page of yours, and I thought it would be a good reference for the assertion that 867-5309 "actually is a valid number in many area codes and commonly receives calls asking for 'Jenny'." (The one where the recording says "you're a loser and have no life" is especially amusing, in addition to substantiating the point that people do call asking for Jenny.) :) --Lph 16:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
