Thank you MJ94 for all the help you gave at ACC this busy month, especially with the huge influx of requests. It has been great working with you and I look forward to working with you more in the future. -- Cheers, Riley 02:15, 3 January 2013 (UTC) |
- Thank you for all your hard work as well, Riley! I'll be back at it as soon as I'm home from the hospital. MJ94 (talk) 18:08, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Spice Global
Hi MJ, I went ahead and created the article Spice Global. Hope you don't mind since you were in the process of reviewing it. The original article had quite a few COI problems and would have been written off as WP:SPAM. I thought I'd jump in and take the opportunity for the article to be created but properly and neutrally. The company is certainly notable based upon the sources I was able to find. Cheers, Mkdwtalk 08:02, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. I was reviewing it for the user when I had to leave, so I appreciate you stepping in to help. Great job, by the way. You went above and beyond the "average" call for help. MJ94 (talk) 08:31, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Collaboration
Well, what kinda subject areas do you like to work on? Most of my stuff is related to Indonesia, but it's pretty hard finding people interested in that. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:48, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think I've found a topic I've been focused on yet, I enjoy exploring. I was just curious if you had any projects in mind, or anything. No big deal if you don't. Best, MJ94 (talk) 18:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm... well, if you like military history there's the 1 March General Assault; there's tons of films which need articles (including Hollywood films, you'd be surprised...); different cultural things, like artefacts; people.... — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:32, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

New user
Hi MJ94, thanks for wellcoming me. I have to complain that a certain RedPen of the Doom (what a name) was atacking me in my talk page. I don't taste such ad hominem attacks and I want either to complain - if possible - or at least to know who fires at me. Thank you. --Dciurchea (talk) 10:36, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry it took me so long to reply. Have you considered starting a discussion at WP:ANI? MJ94 (talk) 19:55, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
A rather intense editing of the Degenerative Disc Disease page.
Hello MJ94,
First I'd like to thank you for giving me a chance to ask questions before editing so any edits I make are done appropriately & intelligently.
I was first diagnosed with degenerative disc disease about 8 yrs ago & after 2 denials from the SSA, I'd love the chance to write a narrative on the wiki page telling about DDD from a patient's perspective. There is a section already there titled Understanding Disc Pain, which, though it is absolutely correct, the gravity of the horror of this scourge doesn't come across well enough. I feel if my experiences with DDD were added, readers just starting to investigate a diagnosis of it, whether for themselves or someone else, will get a much clearer picture of just how bad it can be & how long it can last. I'm not quite sure of how to go about it though, because my non-understated reality, even when put in the nicest terms, may be mentally scarring for some. Without wasting time going into specifics here, Is there someone, maybe a moderator, who can check my writings before they are posted under a new section entitled Experiences With DDD Given by a Patient, or maybe just some type of warning for readers? Children & even young adults lacking a real need for the information could be given nightmares & while knowing the gravity of how bad DDD can be needs to be gotten across to patients, caregivers, & loved ones via first hand experience, I don't want to cause unnecessary tears or nightmares. At the same time, those just getting the diagnosis & their loved ones have a very real need to know, not to mention SSA judges.
Since the source of the experience is myself, & I certainly don't want to write it just to have it challenged & removed, how do I handle sourcing? I have enough documentation to have it's own drawer in my filing cabinet, but I'm not real cracked up about releasing it. Guidance in this endeavor will be another of the many blessings I count as I stumble up this rocky road.
A Patient (talk) 21:48, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia, A Patient. Thank you for your interest in improving Wikipedia and I'm glad I was able to create your account for you. First off, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to learn how Wikipedia works - that's a great first step to ensure everything goes smoothly here. One page I frequently link new users to (and frequently reference for my own use) is Wikipedia's simplified ruleset. One of the topics that page describes is that of the fundamental principles by which Wikipedia operates, summarized as the five pillars. I recommend you read over them, but for now I'd like to direct your attention to the one that says "Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view". Because of this, no original research can be included in the encyclopedia. This includes personal experiences, interpretations and opinions. I thank you for offering to share your experiences, but we all must remember that Wikipedia is not a publisher of original research and that all articles must have reliable sources. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to contact me again. Best, MJ94 (talk) 22:46, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
DYK
Hey, good news! It looks like the DYK for James Gwyn was promoted and will be added in the next round of queues. Mkdwtalk 05:21, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for everything. I'm very sorry I wasn't more help, heck, I shouldn't even claim credit for the DYK. Thank you for taking on an article I wasn't able to, for picking my editing up when it was down, and for doing a stellar job at it. Congratulations and best wishes, MJ94 (talk) 05:41, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

DYK for James Gwyn
On 21 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article James Gwyn, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that James Gwyn was awarded the rank of Brèvet Major-General by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/James Gwyn. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
