Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Buick Somerset into Buick Skylark. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:56, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ford Windsor engine, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Ford Granada and Ford LTD (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:15, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't copy material you find elsewhere online

[edit]

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am a Wikipedia administrator. Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the copyright policy of this website to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. There's more information about copyrights and how it applies to Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. The Wikipedia copyright policy and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. Further copyright issues will result in you being blocked from editing. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:01, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Marine3800. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (2nd request)

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Dodge. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). I see you are still not adding the required attribution, as required under the terms of the CC-by-SA license. Please have a look at this edit summary as an example of how it is done. Copying without doing this is a violation of our licensing terms. Please leave a message on my talk page if you still don't understand what to do or why we have to do it. Dodge Dynasty that cost 22k?

[edit]

Do you have a source for the statement on the Dodge Dynasty article you added that said a 22 year old buyer bought the most expensive Dodge car produced at the time? I removed it because it didn't have a source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:41E0:4040:EC31:49A9:EED7:D06B (talk) 19:25, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission, as you did at List of Murder, She Wrote episodes. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:10, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I wish to be unblocked because I believe that the block is no longer necessary because I have understood what I was blocked for and I will not do it again. I have learned that I will not make copyright violations in the future. I hope to make productive contributions about automobiles. Thank you Marine3800 (talk) 17:41, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 17:46, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

So, to be very clear, you are unwilling or unable to answer the questions I posed you about WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:FAIRUSE? --Yamla (talk) 17:58, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bold move, copying and pasting content from WP:COPYRIGHT in violation of copyright. I very, very, very strongly recommend you remove your most recent open unblock request before someone notices and declines your request. At the moment, you are demonstrating you must remain blocked. --Yamla (talk) 19:36, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
