Instructor Comments No. 2

[edit]

Well-written

[edit]
  • Good work thus far
  • Would like to see more on the geography of the area.
  • Residential Section would be useful. Doesn't need to be large, but if you can take a photo of a few homes that would be great.
  • Try linking to other articles inside wikipedia using double brackets.

Verifiable with no original research

[edit]
  • Well done here.

Broad in its coverage

[edit]
  • Again, would like to see residential.

Neutral

[edit]
  • No issues here.

Stable

[edit]

Illustrated

[edit]
  • Good work on the photos.
  • Try adding an info box at the top of the page; see Arena District Example.

Great Start!

  • Add other sections (such as Residential and Education)
  • Good info on the Foundation, but it needs a more general heading. Maybe: Organizations? This could also include any neighborhood organizations contained within.
  • Good history
  • Needs more internal Wikipedia Links and Images.
  • Article needs editing to remove "extra words" Case and Point:

Instead of:

Riverbend is a neighborhood in southwest Columbus, Ohio. Riverbend itself is a single subdivision that is located next to Big Run Park. Because Riverbend is at the southwest border of the city, it has been relatively recently annexed into the city itself. A major road that serves as the northern boundary of the neighborhood, Clime Road, has small parts of it that are not a part of the city.

It should read like this:

Riverbend is a neighborhood in southwest Columbus, Ohio. Riverbend is a single subdivision located next to Big Run Park. Riverbend was recently annexed into the the City of Columbus and is largely a residential community.

Hi my name is Jacob and I am peer editing your page for our CRP2100 final project. I am not a big supporter on actually physically changing you and your partners page because I am not a huge grammar guy however I will give you a few a suggestions and you can do what you see best!

Lead section

  • The lead section to me is like the thesis of the rest of the wiki page to come. I would throw in interesting facts that are special to Riverbend that summarizes the rest of your work. What you have now is more like the geography/history section. Its hard to understand where these things are when I do not know where or what the Big Run Park is or Clime Rd. That is not a bad thing to have in the lead section but it does not make the reader want to keep reading so think of something to spice it up like a historic event or what Riverbend is popular for.

History

[edit]
  • Maybe throw some pictures in of William Clime, his hogs that he bred, the Clime Family, and Adam Alkire. This will give the reader someone or something to relate the history with.
  • After talking about the founders of the town are maybe start talking about the actual citizens; what they did for a living, quality of life, ethnicity, etc. then bridge the gap in the years and talk about the recent past along those same lines.

Landmarks and Notable Locations

[edit]
  • I would throw in some popular restaurants, bars, or hang-outs of the town.

Miscellaneous

  • You are missing some of the other sections like:

Etymology - Why the neighborhood is named what it is – can be lumped in with history Transportation - Streets, Railroad, Public Transportation and stops (COTA or CABS), maybe existing streetcar systems (a sub-heading of Historic Transportation)

Residential - Planning and Zoning have a fantastic tool available to look at parcels and zoning:[1]

Commercial - You may want to denote important things like Grocery Stores, Office Buildings, Etc. Also, Planning and Zoning have a fantastic tool available to look at parcels and zoning:[2]

Industrial - Planning and Zoning have a fantastic tool available to look at parcels and zoning:[3]

Entertainment - There are often Parks, Recreational Facilities, Music Halls, Etc. in your area. Find them and write a paragraph about them. Many times places will have their OWN pages, so link to those.

Education - There are more than likely schools in your neighborhood. Tell us what they are, and write a little on them. Many times these schools will have their OWN pages, so link to those.

Gallery - A collection of neighborhood images that are ‘left-overs’ from the article. If your neighborhood has this already, consider moving some of the images (they’re already in the public domain) to the body of the article. You can never have to many pictures!
