Hello, I'm Kleuske. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Banco Comercial Português have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Hi, yes, I work for Millennium bcp and my changes are intended to update the financial information (which is from 2010) and provide updated material on repayment of state aid, which was just completed. I also removed 2 bits about a failed merger in 2007 and the sale of our Canadian operation, also in 2007 as they seem to me irrelevant at the moment (though they are not factually in correct). Is there a way for the bank to ensure its entry is both factually correct and up to date? Thanks. Millennium bcp (talk) 18:07, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Hello, Millennium bcp. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Banco Comercial Português, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.
- Sorry for the extra warning, but the above contains much needed information, concerning the dos and don'ts of editing on your employers behalf. For now I strongly urge you to read the Wikipedia:Terms of use before editing. Thank you. Kleuske (talk) 20:17, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Yes, I would definitely have a conflict of interest on this basis. So I will request edits to the page and see if someone carries them out. It seems not very helpful to users to have outdated financial information when the updated material is easily available. Thanks for your help. Millennium bcp (talk) 09:11, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
