John Andrew James II, was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on April 1, 1930. He is an American Evangelist, minister, and author. He is an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World; (PAW). The PAW is the oldest Oneness Pentecostal organization currently in existence. The PAW traces its origins to the Azusa Street Revival of Los Angeles, California which marked the beginning of the Pentecostal Movement. The PAW is characterized by Oneness Pentecostalism. It is so named because it teaches about the Godhead, which is popularly referred to as the Oneness doctrine. This doctrine states that there is one God, who manifests himself in many different ways, including as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is in contrast to the doctrine of three distinct "persons” taught by Trinitarian theology. Oneness believers baptize in the name of Jesus Christ, commonly referred to as Jesus-name baptism, rather than using the Trinitarian formula. Throughout Jonny James’ entire ministry as an Evangelist, he has preached, lectured, debated or taught to Oneness and occasionally Trinitarian groups. Johnny James is married to Anna Juanita James. They are the proud parents of nine children. He is the second child born to a Methodist pastor, John Andrew James I, and Bertha Valentine James. His mother Bertha was a song writer and the song that is the most widely known and sung around the world is, "When I think of the Goodness of Jesus," was written in 1936.
James is widely known in Pentecostal circles for his ability to quote approximately 1/3 of the scriptures in the Bible and for that reason has been commonly referred to as The Walking Bible.
James received his degree from Aenon Bible College and he is a graduate and alumnus of Detroit Bible College, Aenon Bible College and Capital Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds two degrees and is an adjunct professor of hermeneutics at two Bible Colleges. He is also listed in the Who’s Who of the Apostle Archives International. James is an author of two books entitled “Jesus the Ultimate Ology” and “The Greatest Quotes of The Walking Bible”.
