Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello MowerBreeze, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to 999-year leases in Hong Kong have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:58, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Kelvin Kong Hok-lai
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kelvin Kong Hok-lai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Steve Li Kwai-Wah moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Steve Li Kwai-Wah, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. [edit]Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. CMD (talk) 14:40, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- Following up the above warning, please see Talk:Chen_Linong#Edit_warring. Please use the next seven days to discuss the matter. Daniel (talk) 00:21, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to Pollyanna Chu does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Missvain (talk) 16:56, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- I did leave an edit summary, it clearly states "Career: 2021 LegCo" . MowerBreeze (talk) 02:57, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Kowloon Reservoir
[edit]I just followed Citobun's lead in City University, Sham Shui Po and Kowloon City Plaza. Trace of imperialism should all be annihilated from our province. 210.6.10.94 (talk) 12:08, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Lots still exist in Hong Kong, and will continue to exist for another 900+ years. So deleting the lot numbers off of Wikipedia won't get rid of them in real life. You can do any land registry search and see for yourself. Tagging User:Citobun as well MowerBreeze (talk) 13:13, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, these are all the same person: 210.6.10.69 , 210.6.10.94 , 210.6.10.116 , 210.6.10.76 MowerBreeze (talk) 13:21, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- This series of IPs is WP:HKGW. They are taking the opposite stance that they did previously in order to, I dunno, drum up support for their original stance. You can tell by the fact that they are fixating on the same pages and also targeting me personally. Best approach is to revert and ignore the troll. Citobun (talk) 13:25, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. Also saw that you did a lot of work to replace citations I made with DimSumDaily- I've stopped using that source after I saw your edits. MowerBreeze (talk) 13:36, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks MowerBreeze. Didn't want to step on your toes there as you are doing a great job keeping HK articles abreast of current events. But I found a lot of content from that source is copied from elsewhere. Best regards, Citobun (talk) 13:55, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi MowerBreeze,
Thank you for your recent comments on my edit on the article "InvestHK". I am new to Wikipedia and especially appreciate suggestions on personal improvement when editing. Looking forward to working with you on further articles in the future. Carter00000 (talk) 16:52, 22 June 2022 (UTC) |
- If you are new to Wikipedia, why do you have so many deletions and claim WP: MINORASPECT ? For example, instead of deleting referenced content that was significant enough to be in the news, perhaps try adding content. MowerBreeze (talk) 04:15, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

The other flags located in the historical flags section of the page Flag of the Republic of China are not relevant to the actual flag of the Republic of China and for that reason I feel it is appropriate to remove them as they do not contribute to a reader's actual understanding of the flag (for example, what does the Manchukuo flag have to do with ROC? There is already the pages List of Chinese flags and List of Taiwanese flags for these flags). Unless you can provide a reason for keeping these flags in the page, they should not be added back. 129.97.125.3 (talk) 20:36, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
- Why did you remove the text "as a symbol of resistance" from the picture of the flag in HK along with your edit? It's clearly sourced in the article and you should re-add it. MowerBreeze (talk) 20:41, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, you are right, that is mentioned in the source article. I will re-add it. 129.97.125.3 (talk) 20:43, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Hong Kong Land Lot No.
[edit]Thank you for your update in lot no. of Southsky in Aberdeen. How do you find the information so quickly? Ricky36 (talk) 02:14, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- If you look at the sales brochures for most of the apartment buildings in HK, they will list the lot number(s), as well as the expiration. Pretty much all of the sales brochures follow the same format (floor plans, deed of mutual covenant, lot expiration, etc) MowerBreeze (talk) 12:43, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
