Welcome to Wikipedia...Welcome aboard! We're glad you wish to help develop Wikipedia, and we hope you enjoy participating in this virtual community as much as we do. As a new contributor, you may feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer size and scope of this project (which includes over 100,000 regular participants)... ...but don't worry, things will become easier and clearer as you go, and if you have any problems, there will always be other Wikipedians happy to help, see Wikipedia:Requests for more information. There are some resources set forth below to help you get started. Good luck and have fun! If you would like to get a good overview of the project and how it works you could read through the introductory page which is found at Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia. The same basic information can be seen at the Help:Introduction. There is also Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure, a 7-mission interactive guided tour which covers all the basics about editing and the expectations and norms of the Wikipedia community. To browse help related pages see the help menu or help directory. Or you can use the search box at Help:contents (accessed at any time by clicking Help displayed on the left side of all pages). There is also a copy of a comprehensive published book, at Wikipedia: The Missing Manual. Tip: Sign your name - At the end of your comments simply type four tildes (~), like this: Finding your way aroundTo understand Wikipedia, it is easiest to think of this website as having two types of pages: pages that are part of the encyclopedia itself, and pages of the community (used by contributors to help build and operate the encyclopedia). To find your way around the encyclopedia, either enter a term into the search box at the top-right side of the screen, or go to Wikipedia's table of contents. Clicking on links like this one will take you to relevant or related pages. If you know the name of the topic you are looking for, simply type it into Wikipedia's search box and press Go. If you would like to look around Wikipedia to see what's on it, keep in mind that many major subjects have a root article on the Wikipedia:Contents/Overviews page and an outline on the Wikipedia:Contents/Outlines page. There are some other "Tables of Contents" type pages on Wikipedia. They are:
Wikipedia also has an alphabetical index of all of its articles, and a categorical index of most of them. Wikipedia's community pages include instructions, help contents, policies and guidelines, processes, discussion forums, places to make requests, pages to report problems, and user pages. These are all pages which we use to develop the encyclopedia and to communicate with each other in that mission. We even have an online newspaper, The Signpost, that reports on developments that affect the encyclopedia and its community, from within and abroad.
Some directories to help you find your way around the community are:
WikiProjects are social groups of contributors (anyone may join them), who work together as a team to improve Wikipedia. These groups often focus on a specific topic area (for example, women's history) or a specific kind of task (for example, copyediting). WikiProject are one of the central places for editor collaboration and the organization of specific topics. The English Wikipedia currently has over 2,000 WikiProjects and they all have a variety of tasks to get done (for example, Canadian articles to improve).
Our "Rules"Wikipedia does not employ hard-and-fast rules and there is no need to read any page before editing. However, some standards and behavioural expectations may be enforced. Don't be afraid to contribute as you are encouraged to be bold in editing in a fair and accurate manner (See: Wikipedia:Core content policies for more information)
If you need help...If you've made a mistake and wish to undo it, revert it. Here's how: click history at the top of the page you made the mistake on. Then click on undo at the end of the first line which is your edit. Then publish changes. See more detailed instructions at Help:Reverting. There are two main styles of help on Wikipedia: self-help and assistance... Self-help involves reading the help and instruction pages around Wikipedia. Some very informative self-help pages are:
When you get stuck, confused, or befuddled, assistance is available on Wikipedia's "desk" and "request" pages - use these when self-help hasn't provided you with an answer:

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Oomerabad. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Hi, after reviewing your userpage, I have found many issues. You cannot add userboxes, topicons, and awards that you do not have; further, you cannot put misleading statements about how many edits you have or other misleading statements. I hope this does not turn you away from Wikipedia. If you have any questions, please leave a comment on my talk page. In veritas (talk) 02:26, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Kaka Mohammed Oomer
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kaka Mohammed Oomer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. RaySingh (talk) 19:36, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Nabeelgm. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, عمرئ, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Reversion of table formatting
Hi there, I have reverted these edits of yours, because they don't make sense, and they are inconsistent with consensus arrived at through discussion here. Why don't they make sense? Easy to answer: If Raajakumara, Doddmane Hudga, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna and Uppi 2 all grossed 40 crore, they should all be in the same rank position. It's not Wikipedia's place to arbitrarily decide that Raajakumara belongs in the #4 spot rather than in the #7 spot. This problem has implications all across the encyclopedia, because often editors will include statements like "the film is the seventh highest-grossing Kannada film". Is that statement true if it could also be the 4th highest-grossing film? Of course not. Organising them into the same ranking prevents us from giving preferential treatment to any one film, and thus, is consistent with our neutral point of view policy. If you don't like the formatting, your recourse is to open a discussion on the article's talk page and seek a new consensus. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:21, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
Please stop posting false claims on your user page.
Hi there, please stop posting false claims on your user page. You are not a reviewer, you are not a rollbacker, you are not a Senior Editor III, I doubt that you were adopted by Airplaneman, your userpage has not been vandalised 5 times, your user page has also not been vandalised 9 times, you have not made 44,000+ edits at Wikipedia, you have not made more than 400 edits at Wikipedia, you have not one of the 5000 most active Wikipedians, and you are not #1486 on the list of most active Wikipedians. Another editor has twice before [1][2] removed false claims. If you do this again, I'll interrupt your editing privileges. That would be a silly thing to be blocked for. The article Mohit Baghel has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non notable actor. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohit Baghel was deleted and other attempts to create this was also deleted as WP:G5. The only reason why I did not CSD this as WP:G4 was because the author has promised to add more references in the talk page, even though my searching does not indicate that there are any better references.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Speedy deletion nomination of Mohit Baghel
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mohit Baghel, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. (See section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) If a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Please be aware that per this policy, your signature must contain a link to your userpage or talkpage. If you sign comments in the usual manner this is done automatically. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:45, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
Userpages
I’ve noticed that you also are asking other users to create their userpage, including an IP user. I have just deleted that talk page as there is no reason to pressure other users into creating userpages, especially IP users as at some point all IPs are re-assigned and a new user could edit from the same IP while having a userpage that has nothing to do with them. Userpages are a tiny part of what Wikipedia is and actually do not do anything to improve the encyclopedia, which is the primary purpose of Wikipedia, so please stop sending such messages or creating userpages for others unless explicitly asked to do so.
I’ve also noticed that you never reply to messages here, I would appreciate some indication that you have read and understood these messages. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:54, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
- In addition to these observations by Beeblebrox, noting your creation of a "Hi I'm Groot!!" userpage for an IP shortly after that IP followed your AfD opinion with a supporting opinion and edit of yours, it is well worth reading WP:SOCK and avoiding such situations in future. Deletion discussion about P.S Mithran
Hello, Nabeelgm,

Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,

If you understand what you did wrong, then you will need to explain it to us so that we can actually see that you understand - you need to convince a reviewing admin that you understand, not just state that you do. So please explain, in your own words, what you were doing wrong and why it was wrong. Then explain how you will behave differently if unblocked. This might sound pedantic, but we regularly see blocked editors claiming they understand something without actually understanding. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 08:31, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

- Nabeel, you may think that copying and pasting cookie-cutter responses prompted from the unblock template will help you be unblocked quicker, but noooo, admins are not usually stupid, and they can usually tell you're just slapping stuff together. If you can't present a cogent argument using your own ability to communicate, you're probably not going to have much luck. If English is not your native language, you might have better luck contributing at the Wikipedia in your native tongue. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:18, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Unblock Request
Hi Administrator ,
Nabeelgm (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I was blocked because of disruptive edits to Wikipedia ,I created pages for IP addresses , I put a block tag on a user and I'm not communicative was the reason I was blocked from editing. But now I understand that I don't own Wikipedia.I apologize deeply for my past edits. I assure the reviewing admin I won't make any disruptive edits and only edit articles which I can cite a source... pls unblock me (The aforementioned words are from my heart ) Thanks..
Decline reason:
Here, you seem to be saying you simply didn't understand before. This is simply not plausible. You clearly understood that you did not own Wikipedia, and you clearly understood you were being disruptive. You appear to have set out to actively harm Wikipedia. I think it best if we leave you blocked. Perhaps once you've had a few months to think, you may wish to apply under WP:SO. At that time, you'll have to address why you attempted to harm Wikipedia and why we should trust you again. No sooner than six months from now, though. Yamla (talk) 00:57, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi, I was banned from the platform almost 3 yearsago . Back then I was unaware of Wiki rules and I also was a kid and made a disruptive edit that caused my account to be banned. Now after years I have properly read Wikipedia rules & terms and I assure you that I won't make the mistakes I made earlier. I'm now aware what edits i am supposed to make and what not to. I now am a lot more mature and I'm sticking to don't edit/ make change if I don't have a source to confirm & verify my edits. Thanks again
Decline reason:
This block seems to be for more than just "a disruptive edit" as you term it. It seems more based on a pattern of things. Please better explain your understanding of why you were blocked and what you will do differently going forward. only (talk) 14:31, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

@only I don't remember exactly as the block was made almost 3 years ago. When @Beeblebrox blocked me at that time a user was kinda updating false figures to the box office page of Indian cinema . So I had posted request for account deletion on his talk page. At the time I thought it was the right thing. But but again now I know exactly what I have to do and what not to, I don't actually remember other edits that were disruptive to the best of my knowledge and remembrance. If I'm unblocked I'll make sure that edits I make will have a reputable sources which confirm my edits.Cheers
- Well, if you don't remember what edits/behaviors led to your block, you cannot avoid repeating the same edits/behaviors. Might I suggest that you reread the messages on your talk page? Thanks, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:29, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
UTRS 33876
User has requested unblocing at UTRS. The appeal is now closed. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:17, 28 August 2020 (UTC) @Deepfriedokra I think I had explained what caused @Beeblebrox to block me, I just said I didn't remember anything else I may have did that caused the block. Thanks for your suggestion . I did recheck my talk page and I didn't really find anything that may be related . Thanks again ! And yeah I was clear on the edits part & I don't really plan on making any big edits . Any minor edits I make will also be sourced properly. If I'm unblocked it's great. If not that's fine too 😊 . Thanks for your time.
I'm actually planning on deleting this account and creating another one , to start fresh you know , cheers
- 1. Accounts can't be deleted. 2. If you create a new account to "start fresh" while this one is still blocked, that account will need to be blocked as a sockpuppet. only (talk) 15:41, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
@Only so I have to get this account unblocked 😓 , I just stated everything that happened. Can u reveiew my request again? Thanks. I don't really have anything else to say , I'm not sure what more to do.
- Like I said above, there's more than just this one incident going on. You'll see further up why you're blocked and will need to explain that. But based on how this is going, I don't foresee an unblock in your future. only (talk) 16:00, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
@Only I did read all sections on my talk page , I found I had added user boxes which I didn't own . I believe I had deleted them when the moderator warned me of it. Other than that I didn't find any other vandalizing edits. That I may have made. Thanks again
- What other accounts have you used? Have you edited in the last three months while logged out? Don't tell us the IP, just yes or no. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:36, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
@Deepfriedokra no I haven't made any edits. @Deepfriedokra @Only @Beeblebrox I went through all my talk messages again and found out that I didn't had linked sources to my edits , and I create pages which were nominated for deletion but most of them were found out to be genuine as I provided sources later on . As I said earlier from now on I'll definitely add sources to my edits & I will not create any page without source . Thanks , I have been an active member for 5 long years . Please consider my request to unblock
- There was also the matter of the use of multiple accounts on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Veeramadevi, as warned on 27 January 2018 above. AllyD (talk) 15:18, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
@AllyD I don't think I used multiple accounts. I didn't find any warnings on my talk too .
Problem with your custom signature
You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
