Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Ngill13, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Incomplete DYK nomination

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/African-American socialism at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; if you would like to continue, please link the nomination to the nominations page as described in step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 08:08, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi! I've closed the nomination as a procedural thing, as the article wasn't expanded enough to qualify for DYK. This would need to be expanded to at least five times its original length within the past 7 days to qualify. Given the size of the page, expanding it would be an extremely lengthy process that would also likely require extensive collaboration with other editors. It would be a fairly massive undertaking that would likely take about 1+ months to complete at its fastest, if not even longer. • There are also many issues with the article that would need to be fixed before it could pass DYK as a whole, many of which were already there prior to your editing the article, which is another reason why this would be such a massive undertaking. I'm not trying to dissuade you from this, just letting you know that it would be a very time consuming process to expand it. Given the size, expansion wouldn't be the right angle with which to improve the article - I'd more recommend giving it general overall improvement and trying to improve it to Good Article standards, which is also a fairly lengthy and often difficult process that can take months to complete. Again, not trying to discourage you, just trying to impress upon you the time and commitment that would be needed here. Let me know on my talk page if this is something that you're interested in doing. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 07:21, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
