Offensive defense actions

[edit]

Do you plan to add offensive air operations of the japanese to improve the safety of the japanese archigelago to the article? If so, the chapter Chasing a Decisive Victory: Emperor Hirohito and Japan's War with the West. in Edward J. Drea: In the Service of the Emperor: Essays on the Imperial Japanese Army. gives a good insight of the active defense the japanese tried to get into negotiations with the allies after one big victory. On the other hands it shows the problem of extremely overestimating battle reports. For example an air raid from the homeland against the allied fleet threatening the Marianas, inflicting only light damage to one american tanker. The inexperienced pilots afterwards reported up to 12 allied carriers sunk. Such things were important points for the strategic planning of the air defenses. --Bomzibar (talk) 18:58, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
