Mrs Omotayo Omotosho, MFR
[edit]Mrs Omotayo Omotosho, popularly called “Madam Tourism” is a TV broadcaster, journalist, public administrator, publisher and a successful entrepreneur. With almost three decades of executive management positions in broadcasting and public service, Mrs Omotosho’s highly successful TV program “Towards a Greater Nigeria” which started in 1990 remains the oldest and longest-running weekly public enlightenment program that has survived many military and civilian administrations in Nigeria.
She was born on the 16th of September, 1963 into the Fidipote royal families of Idenwon in Ijebu-ode, Ogun State - Nigeria, to an educationist father and a retired matron mother.
Mrs Omotosho was appointed the Chairman, Governing Board of the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation in 1996. In August 2000, she was appointed by the Federal government of Nigeria to the position of Director General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).
As a philanthropist, Mrs Omotosho has supported and still supports tens of Nigerians with scholarships through her private Charitable Fund. An author of the best-selling book “From Want to Wealth” she also mentors many Nigerian youths, giving freely of her time and resources as a volunteer.
She is a graduate of the University of Lagos where she earned her BSc Honours degree in Psychology, with specialization in Communication Psychology. She has a Nigerian National Honours Award of Member of the Federal Republic, MFR which was conferred on her in 2006 in recognition of her service to the Nation.
