Copyright problem for Victorian Railway Station images
Image copyright problem with Image:Watergardens-station-platform.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Watergardens-station-platform.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 21:11, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Image:Lalor-station-platform.jpg
Hello, and thank you for uploading Image:Lalor-station-platform.jpg. I notice that the image description page says that this image is "used with permission". Unfortunately, Wikipedia cannot use images "with permission", because the goal of Wikipedia is to be a free encyclopedia that anyone can use in any manner, and so copyrighted images must be released under a free license such as the GFDL.
You had tagged this with {{NoRightsReserved}}, which says that the copyright holder has released all rights to the image, so that anyone at all can use it however they like. Do you have some evidence that the copyright holder has indeed released all rights in such a way? If this really is the case, then you can change the image description page back to the {{NoRightsReserved}} tag, and please include the evidence you have. If you need help or have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 09:44, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Railway station photos
I have about 200 railway station photos where the licence+summary is in need of retagging. Can I automate this at all, to avoid doing each one by hand? --ozzmosis 05:20, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. You can try asking at the Wikipedia:Help desk, though. —Bkell (talk) 10:31, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey, just wanted to say awesome job at getting all the station photos up. --Tumble 09:37, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- :-) Thanks. I still need to fix the licence on them though! :/ --ozzmosis 07:45, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Follow up on copyright issues with Vicrailstations
Hey Ossmosis, if you don't mind, I've collated all of your talk issues relating to this so its easier to follow.
I noticed that your permission tags are broken for most of the Vic railway photos (for eg Image:Lalor-station-platform.jpg). Also your assertion that the author of the photos had released 'free' copyright is currently unverifiable, and Wikipedia requires Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission. It'd be easier all round if you ask the image author to place a licence statement on their website.
If you have permission already via email, then proceed to the Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission#When permission is confirmed. I know its a bit of a pain since you put alot of effort into placing the photos up, but this is somewhat of importance to the legality of the images. And you don't them to be deleted due to insufficient permissions. Cheers. takagawa-kun 09:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm I see. Actually I was thinking of replacing some of the pictures myself, along the line between Dandenong and City Loop =) once I noticed the copyright tags weren't be explicitly confirmed. I may start working on take photographs sometime within the next couple of weeks. You could give one more shot at emailing Wikipedia. If still to no avail, then I suppose just leave it as is and hope an admin leaves it alone for a little while until I can slowly work my way through replacing some. Actually I have a better idea, you said you've already submitted to permissions-en AT wikimedia.org. Then add a little note saying "permission has been sent to the m:OTRS system". Once you've done that, then the whole issue of confirmation of permission is done on your end, and the rest will be in Wikipedia's hands. --takagawa-kun 11:33, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:QBasic Opening Screen.png
Thanks for uploading Image:QBasic Opening Screen.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:Ms-word-5.5-dos.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ms-word-5.5-dos.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JackLau 02:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ms-word-5.5-dos.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Ms-word-5.5-dos.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:26, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Mornington tourist railway station, October 14, 2005.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mornington tourist railway station, October 14, 2005.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:42, 12 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Fastback-plus-1.0-dos.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Fastback-plus-1.0-dos.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:43, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
