[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Party Booths", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website. Please note that Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or appear to be shared by multiple people. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 04:24, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

- Basically, you may KNOW that you were the first, but we cannot accept that without independent evidence. No offence intended to you. We have seen so many claims made that could not be backed up (some being totally ridiculous and others fairly convincing) that we do not accept any. Peridon (talk) 17:55, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Please put new stuff at the bottom of a talk page, to maintain chronology.
Actually, I didn't block you. I declined your request to unblock. Many editors write a few things about themselves and their Wikipedia-related interests. However, you will note that nothing on my user page is personally identifiable, or promotional. I don't mention my family business, my LinkedIn profile, my Facebook page, the web sites I have created, etc., because none of that is really appropriate here. If you want your user page to state a few things about you personally, that's fine, as long as you aren't here to promote your business.
As to other businesses getting mentioned: If they are not notable, they should be removed. There are millions of articles here, only a few thousand active editors, and only a few hundred active administrators, so we can't monitor everything and correct every problem. I just went through the article and removed some inappropriate links, which you should have done rather than simply add your own. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:57, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, one other thing: In your first unblock request you mentioned that your company offered the first digital photo booth. That's a claim of notability deserving of a mention in the article, but Wikipedia would need a link to a reliable, independent, secondary source that confirms this. Primary sources such as the company web site or press releases aren't sufficient. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:05, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Ok yeah that makes total sense. No worries, I won't be doing anything on here that benefits me in any way. Thanks for removing some of those other links. I would have done that myself but at the time of my first edit, I wasn't really sure of all the rules, etc. I am now though. ;) Thanks! (Party Booths (talk) 21:10, 13 August 2012 (UTC)) Oops, still request to have my username changed to dman517 please. (Party Booths (talk) 21:12, 13 August 2012 (UTC))
