English Rose

[edit]

The phrase does indeed denote an English cultural stereotype, and quite a positive one! I would summarise it as a modest, attractive, smart (as in clever), and well-mannered woman. Normally this name is given to women over 25-ish. However, the term, at its most basic, means a woman with a very natural kind of beauty. For example, a typical English rose, both in beauty and movie casting type is Kate Winslet (think Sense and Sensibility, Finding Neverland etc). Hope that's answered your question! Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 21:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
